Mortal Kombat 11 at Combo Breaker has proven to be an excellent showcase in gameplay with perhaps the most diverse competition we've had so early on in an NRS title with representatives from all over the world including Australia, The Netherlands, Canada, and many more! Competition has been consistently fierce from pools to top 24 play and the momentum hasn't slowed down.
The Kombat Kast is back! Breaking their week long (hiatus?), the crew has come together this week to talk with Rick Hadou, Organizer of Combo Breaker and to get people excited about the biggest major the NRS scene has seen in a long time.
UsedForGlue, Irish NRS player, has found something interesting with Kung Lao and can help make him a deadly force from mid-screen and beyond. Might be a glitch, might be intended, but it's definitely something usable for anyone trying to make Kung Lao work.
Hey everyone, the @Slips and Hippo show is back to cover all things in the world of kompetitive Mortal Kombat 11! This week, Slips and I are taking a look at the recent Beyond the Summit event The Summit of Time, which featured a ton of high level play from some of the scene's best players and gave us a glimpse at the early game meta leading into Combo Breaker. We also talk shop, including expressing some love for Super Smash Bros. Ultimate and more classic game talk! A fun show as always, so please check it out.
There's apparently some longstanding beef going on between the Florida NRS scene and the Texas NRS scene. With some talk about a money match going on the past few months, we have it officially locked in for Combo Breaker 2019.
Combo Breaker is coming up, and the pools are finally out. Matches have not been assigned yet, but you can at least see who is playing whom. If you are going, you can start preparing. If you are watching, then you can figure out when you should tune in.
For all five of you who were actively engaged with the Injustice 2 competitive scene in its last few months, you may remember the announced Intercontinental Championship, where people outside of the US could earn a chance at getting into the IPS Pro Series finals without needing to fly to the US to compete. NRS is doing it again, but this time it's announced early and this time, Intercontinental is spelled with a "k".
The Team and I return with our latest Test Your Might Podcast... episode 9! The special part about the podcast is we bring on @eazytobeat who some may remember from back in the 2005 era when clans ruled the online competitive scene. eazytobeat was and still is an Xbox player and back then he was one of the select few that only the BEST players stood a chance competing against him. The thing is, not all of the players from back in that time are still around, so having eazytobeat return, if not just to come to the forums to chill with us, is super cool.
Of course I am also joined by the reputable members of the community, @Gerchap, @M2Dave and @mastermalone. We talk to eazytobeat to find out about his originals of playing Mortal Kombat. In fact, part of the way in, I thought of how @Shock would very much appreciate eazytobeat's UMK3 stories!
We do our best to keep our casts timed in good fashion and...
A lot has gone down this week, and @Jolt is here with the TYM news show to break it all down for everyone once again. Topics for this week are tournament stuff and the deluge of of tier lists coming out.
Some new details on the Mortal Kombat movie (not that one) have been released. We are now moving from vague screencaps of scripts and promises of directors and producers and moving into "this movie is going to start filming".
There was a lot of Mortal Kombat going on this weekend: Texas Showdown, a showdown going on in Texas, and the Summit of Time, a Summit where they had time to play MK11. If you missed one or both, here some details to get caught up so you can talk about what happened with your co-workers at the water cooler.
It's almost time for Combo Breaker 2019: the second big US major this year and the first since Mortal Kombat 11 has come out. And if these numbers are anything to go by, people are excited to play it on the big stage.
I leave my contribution for the players of kung lao with details of the use of interaction in combos, combos without meter, configurations, tricks and some tips that I hope will serve you. For the Shaolin ...
