No, not in the slightest. People should be prideful about themselves, their culture, their families, their beliefs, etc. I would hardly say it is a false equivalency because gay and straight people are most certainly equal to each other. Not to mention, the point I was making in my other post was how incredibly stupid it would be to profess my straightness. I could give less of a fuck about how society is or about some great social stigma. I'm my own man and I'll treat gay, straight, black, white, whatever people exactly the same: as individuals with their own unique personalities. I'm not gonna put someone in a box with their race or sexuality, because race and sexuality are such meaningless details of who a person truly is and has no bearing on if I'd want to be their friend. I don't want or need "white pride" because im not Will: the straight white guy, Im my own person with my own hopes, dreams, and beliefs, and will take "pride" in that fact. He has expressed his sexual preferences on numerous occasions, its not as if he is making some social statement or actually helping or changing anything or anyone. Wanna know whats gonna actually bring about equality? Not acting like gay or bi people are abnormal or deviant or something, and just treating it like the natural thing it is. For fucks sake guy
I agree completely. When I was growing up, the LGBTQ movement was about them not wanting labels, that they wanted to be seen as individuals outside of their sexuality, now it seems that since the younger generation have taken over they welcome labels and it's gotten to a point that sexuality defines someone's personality and they forget that there are many more facets to themselves that just that preference.

Why have a personality at all? Why not rely on your sexuality to give you a personality? That's really what you're asking here.

Why is it seen as brave or warrants praise when we know there are people EVERY single that that are fighting for our freedom? Or those who are fighting for their lives? What about those who are finding medical breakthroughs to save lives and dedicating their lives to help others?

But hey, coming out sure is brave in a first world country.

Someone's sexuality can strongly coincide with who they are, I'm sorry if that makes you upset. And jesus christ you just gave the TROOPS are the brave ones argument. Look pal bravery doesn't have to be a dick measuring contest. There are different forms and they are all admirable. Fuck firefighters right? i mean they aren't dodging bullets everyday like muh troops. You sound like one of those people that shit on Colin Kaepernick and say the troops are the real brave heroes. Once again buddy you don't need to have a metric for bravery.

What on earth are you talking about? lol Do you know why most US states in this "first world country" have hate crime laws? If you cant understand the basic concept of visibility for underrepresented people, then you should really educate yourself a bit more before spewing out this nonsense.
Why are saying we need to pick and choose what brave is? lol cant it be all of the above? I'm really at a loss with your posts.

Sexuality is a personal preference, it shouldn't dictate your personality that's how stereotypes are born and it's more harmful to someone than anything else. If you knew how many times I was called a lesbian because I'm a tomboy, you wouldn't be surprised because it's become the norm, why? Because sexuality is defining people's personality.

What are you talking about? Firefighters enter the 'those who fight for their lives every day', so do people with illnesses. That's what I meant by that.

It's about normalising and being seen as equal as anyone else.
The more you've had something thrown into your face, the more you get used to it and the more normal it becomes. Hence why a lot of LGBTQ+ people announce their sexuality to people out loud. It's the whole "We're here, we're queer, deal with it!", really. And it can be seen as being necessary still, because a lot of people are still not accepting it as being normal.

It'll take a few more decades before that happens. There are still people who think being a woman, having another skin colour etc. is still not something that should be considered equal of worth to their own personal values. Which is also the reason why some people are being obnoxiously loud about it, because it should already be accepted as normal.

To you guys who already consider it normal and non-problematic that someone is of another sexuality - that's awesome! Thank you! But it's still an on-going struggle for a lot of people in certain areas, so that's why.

I'm not talking about visibility, or that people shouldn't publicly say it. I'm talking about people who think they'll get adoration from doing it. They think they're changing the world and helping people when publicly coming out doesn't come close to what people who put their lives on the line do every single day. That's what I'm saying.

Essentially what I'm saying is, the more you make it seem like a big deal when people do come out, the less 'normal' it's going to look. If you want it to be accepted, well received and understood as something that's normal, then you need to stop making it a big deal every time someone comes out.

because they're insecure as hell .... but due the aggressive and destrutive behaviour some people have about them, it's understable ...

All I know that any kind of prejudice/preconception is boring and dumb as fuck .... the world need people with good attitude and good character, so fuck off what the hell his/her sexuality is all about, this doesn't matter in the end. ;)

Nothing wrong being gay, lesbic or whatever the fuck hell people want to do and be with their lifes, sort of. Being good instead of evil, it's much more important than this. People waste time worrying about stuff that really doesn't matter at all, lol !

I partially agree, but there are ways and ways to go about it. Being upfront and confident is one thing, being obnoxious is another. I have a gay friend who once told me that he feels ashamed to represented by the Gay Pride movement, and that's the opposite of giving confidence.

Uh, stop talking about people’s sexuality and everything else that is incredibly off topic, please. Seriously, if y’all wanna make a thread about that go ahead, but this thread isn’t it.
Have you read these responses? This thread has become a show of unity.
I would use my voice, but @Dankster Morgan , @kevkopdx , and @HeavyNorse have stolen the words right from my lungs.

Responses like this are why I'm proud to be here in the first place!

It’s completely irrelevant to the topic. Like, by a lot. Just because I agree with something that doesn’t mean it isn’t off topic, I have a job to do here.

Lmao. This is the exact reason why I had the response I had in the “NRS community leaders” thread. I don’t know you. I’ve met met you. I think you’re a good guy. But I’m not here to bow to you and your achievements I just wanna know why you and the rest of the “top” players feel like you can shit on this site(which consumes most of your nrs community) give it a bad rep, yet most of y’all still come EVERY year using tech from threads, engaged in convos lurking etc. I’m not accusing YOU but some of your peers who supposedly HATE the site do it so yeah.. Idk the history of why you all left and it may be something along the lines of having thin skin over the internet if you could believe that.. Either way I feel like if you were just going to shit on certain ppl that responded and tell people “it’s my Twitter I do what I want” you could have posted that to twitter and left it there. What was the point of coming and then saying “see ya in 2 years!” Same goes for the players who “hate tym” but come here to promote patreons and other business endeavors. To each his own, but at least be consistent with the bullshit.
The reason people dislike the site so much is do to constant harassment and toxicity that occurs really only here and nowhere else the past few years. It wasn’t always like this and I hope mk11 changes for the better. But it actually got to a point where people were just straight up being personal and offensive here, and that is something we hardly experience on twitter. Achievements have nothing to do it, just tell people here to act more like empathetic human beings for once.

the same guy that made lots of people leave tym and got into their personal lives to begin with so absolutely! It isn’t toxic to not want shitty people in your community.

Also this thread had gotten derailed at some point to straight guys talking about my sexuality and why I shouldnt be what I am online and that is what I am talking about. Us other players lurk around here for tech and that is about it. Anything we say or do tends to get mad dumb shit to happen. The site itself isn’t the problem, it is the way people carry themselves around here even in threads. Like how did in this thread before I even approached it did it come to players talking about my life twice??? That is something you never find anywhere else. Really this problem wouldve been solved long ago had rules been enforced by mods better.

TYM is a good site to bring newer players into tech. But if you are serious about the competitive scene, you should use Twitter for NRS Discussion and tourneys etc. And that’s just where lotsa of the “leaders” you guys talk about is at. We are absolutely willing to return if TYM is shown to get its act back together.

Some of us are women, but I feel like people do get derailed when we're waiting for a game to come out, new info is scarce, and we just end up talking politics. Every time we get a character reveal that's when the community shines. The week Cassie got revealed really showed me why I really love this place and the people in it. TYM is not nearly as toxic as twitter, let me tell you, that place is a cesspool. People here can have arguments and then agree about other things and there will be no love lost. That's how everyone should be, that's what maturity is.

Double post:

There also tends to be this weird thing that players seem to think that they can say whatever they want about people personally or not because we don’t see it. That is a huge reason people also left. This’ll be my last post for awhile anyhow. If mods care about the integrity of the site, then it should be very easy to clean this thread and get things back on topic so when I lurk I can consider more ideas here again.
