What's savage about his post? I've gotten dms talking about how Sonic blew me up in this thread and I don't understand.

You don't have to be a close personal friend or relative of Sonicfox to know that in spite of his great play, he has made ridiculous claims about high-mid tier characters after losing to them. Sub Zero, Ferra Torr, Shinnok, etc.

I think everyone assumed that in my post I alluded to me being a Sonicfox groupie, and he blew me up for not being? By "knowing Sonic", I simply mean that I've followed him for a long time and have noticed the pitfalls in some of his tier lists.

When he lost to Killstreak, Sub Zero was all of a sudden #1 in the game, when we had characters like Quan, Raiden, Liu Kang, and even his character, who were possibly all better. After he lost to Bio on thecw, he told everyone at KIT that Ferra Torr is S tier lol. After losing to Wound, Shinnok is somehow #1 in the game when it's clear that Shinnok lost what he gained(not that he wasn't good before, but #1?).

Everyone gets salty and says stuff like that, but because it's Sonic, our community takes it way too seriously.

Even some of the positive Dragon Naginata claims before the patch were preposterous. People don't take enough time with the game, even the very best player. Jesus himself could come down, and not be able to figure out a match up in 1 set or the top 5 in 10 days lol. Fighting games are deep, man.

I mean fuck dude, he has 6 people in his top 5. We're not even counting up in this bitch, that's how serious this list is to be taken.

Agree with Tweedy on this. Top player opinion should not override objective discussion.

For example, if any person here would've made a tier list with Shinnok as #1 and Ermac not in the Top 6, this entire thread would be a roast of the thread creator until a mod closes it. Instead, since it was posted by Sonic it is the gospel. Why is this? Not saying anyone should start roasting, but critical evaluation dies when a top player states an opinion?

Obviously when a player of this caliber makes a statement you want to take that into account, but at the same time skill level does not always translate into evaluation. Michael Jordan was the best ball player ever and thought Kwame Brown was an A-list talent. Bill Belicheck couldn't play football but is one of the greatest talent evaluators and coaches of all time. There are tons of examples.

Not saying Sonic is wrong. Do I respect Sonic's opinion? Massively. Do I agree with this Top 6? No way. Nothing wrong with that. If anything, I would like to hear/see others opinion on it more than anything else.

and you punish him by how much exactly? 10%? and that's not counting he can mb all the 3 hits as he please and build a shit ton of meter while doing it. the risk / reward just inst in your favour everytime he has a bar (pretty much always). Also shutting down something means that he's not able to throw out that move safely, not that he can get punished by 10/13% lol, it's a joke.

again depends on the match up some people can punish it regardless of if he ex's the second part. if every time you throw out hellsparks in neutral you're getting punished on reaction seems like being shutdown to me

On a serious note he is entitled to his opinion just like you are. The fact that he has won more mownays than like everyone else who has played mkx competitively combined means his opinion has more gravitas than yours tho so ye.. It is what it is

Some people say pyro tanya should deff be top 5. Some say Pred, kitana and some others say Nimble reptile now that everyone else has been nerfed. There are a lot of variables to consider can you 100% say ermac is Top 5 and surpasses all those other characters? Some times it's not so cut and dry

It's pretty cut and dry with Ermac.

Sonic, for example, had him as 5th on the last version, the game got overall weaker, and all he lost was a little damage. He's the best case for #1 in the game right now without question. Acting like he's not top 6 minimum is crazy talk.

Big D, Toxin and 2ez were not present at SCR. Big D has been using Leatherface in the kombat cups.

Ermac is not here yet competitively for those reasons, but he's coming. They will have us now.

Actually at this point NRS did a great job re-balancing the game, and as Boon said they try to get everyone closer to the middle. Maybe Kotal and Kung Jin got hit a little bit too much, but probably, Shinnok bone and imposter, Sektor, Smoke, Subzero cryo and GM, Demo Sonya, HQT Pred, Mystic Ermac, Kitana Assassin and RS, SR Takeda and Unstopable Jason are all top tiers that are really close to each other and contendands for most top 5s. And its not that the rest cant compete, there are lots of very good variations in this new meta.

Prepatch Sub was broken which i had advocated even before pw beat me. Since he could infinitely place ice clone and 95% of the cast cluld not escape, yes it was a problem.
Thecw lost to ferra/torr was for show
Dragon naginita last patch was A+
I never made an official tier list for top 5 prior since i agreed with most last patch being
1.mil
2. Alien
3. Takeda
4. Sonya
5. etcetc
