Every character in sfv is easy to play. It's how the game is designed. I just don't like when people talk shit about how hard their character is and act like that's why they can't get wins. Mika was very good and still is good. That being said gief never got stomped by her and as of right now is an undeniably easier and stronger character all around, but I don't see him complaining about that lol. I don't really have a problem with him doing that but I just call it like I see it.that wouldn't make a difference when he edited even if he did, that just means he was correcting you on taking a an obvious joke seriously due to your insecurities about how easy Mika is to play
wow you are really hung up on this lolEvery character in sfv is easy to play. It's how the game is designed. Also I dropped Mika specifically because there were characters that are both stronger AND easier to play lol. Trust me I'm not insecure about shit I pick good characters for a reason, that being said fuck all of y'all if you think what fuudo/nuckledu did in s1 and continue to do in s2 had anything to do with Mika and wasn't just that they're better than 99.99999% of players.
Oh most of that was just explaining why I argued with him none of it was aimed at you. That being said I'm not just hung up on the joke lol. All of season 1 I had to listen to his whining about Mika. Play him in two sets then he comes on here to complain about her. Try to explain it's actually not that terrible of a matchup for him and that he can punish things like dropkick relatively easily as gief, then hear him incorrectly say he can't even when I explain how to counter what I'm doing. It's just something that's bugged me for awhile TBH. I usually just ignore it though. My b I guess.wow you are really hung up on this lol
my post didn't say the character was strong, weak, or easy or hard to play
I just said that you are insecure about it hence why you are still fighting about a deliberate joke about from months ago
which you've gone ahead and confirmed
And so is every character in this game lol. Relative to other fighting games there's not a single character in sfv that could be considered "medium difficulty" (in terms of execution/complexity)in a bunch of other series. Hell even sf4 had harder everything lol. People feel themselves for plinking a dash up demon and forget when just to do a combo with e ryu you used to have to plink 2 or more one frame links.but that being said she is easy to play tho

Currently? I'd disagree. I play a lot of characters and of the "I got in now you die" characters she's imo harder to play than a lot of them. I mean the mixups are easy and any schmuck can pull them off but her neutral isn't as easy as a lot of people seem to think. Yeah you can just go crazy and jump in/dropkick in/slide but that shit is all counterable and only works if your opponent screws up. It's usually ok because she only needs someone to screw up once to put them in a dangerous spot but there are a lot of characters currently that do the same thing without taking those risks in neutral.that's great, but relative to other characters in the game shes one of the easiest chars ever
shes also one of the funnest too I think I'm gunna pick her up again when my stick fixes
Honestly I haven't been playing her in s2. I don't know much outside basic setups/combos now. Just watch fuudo and do what he does. If you can(hint no one can fuudo is the god).actually she feels playable on Pad since I don't have to cancel shit into DP animation so might pick her up now
@FL Rushdown can you give me a crash course for Mika, just generally what I should be doing to take her to a higher level? The mix is self explanatory, but tips on using the st.HK smart, and how to best use her other buttons would be sweet
Just join me and switch to the superior(only in gameplay) grappler that is Laura.I'd still bop everyone here with nerfed Mika. Y'all don't want these Ls on your record.
regular st.HK is -4 right, is that really a good idea to be mixing in as a conditioning tool? That being said st hk is totally a conditioning tool imo. You can't just start with it if you're playing vs someone that knows the matchup pretty much every character has a good reliable punish. It's still strong but risky to use, make sure you mix up charged and non charged though you can usually throw off their timing enough to make it work even if it'll be inconsistent.
wait, is that double st.MP? I can't confirm a single st.MP into Peach even offline in training let alone in matchesSt mp is her basic bitch fishing button. Don't poke with it but try to whiff punish/put it in front of their pokes and confirm into ex peach for corner carry.
is it the fact that it hits low and has slightly more range that makes you say its a better button than her 3f cr.LP which is the same advantage?Cr lk is probably her best button. Sets up tick everything. Starts combos with a low and has great range in the neutral game as a fast poke.
one of my strengths as a player has always been making good reads on whether my opponent is going to expect a throw or not, i'd say that alone pretty much carries me through a lot of my wins with Vega, except, with Vega I have to spend bar on the throw to get real oki. I'm keen to jump back into Mika. whats some of her better frame traps btw? Most importantly I'd recommend you don't overuse her command grabs. At least at the start vs new opponents. Play it safe and stick to frame traps/regular throws with a buffered cr mp or wingless behind them. It keeps you very safe and allows you to spend time conditioning your opponent. I usually don't start command grabbing till I see them start stand teching.
Yeah it's ok to use cause the range is so much shorter than charged you can whiff it to make their counter to charged dropkick whiff and then punish that or use it slightly close to make them overestimate how much time they have to counter(use it close vs people that are confident in their ability to counter hit the charged dropkick and you'll get crush counters, which will cause them to respect the charged one slightly which can also lead to crush counters)thanks for the tips man just some questions

I'm going to go watch some Fuudo play for a bit as well
I C. I was trying to confirm st.Mp into MP peach cancel, I see now its a link to ex Peach on reaction. That is definitely doable, and also... much trickier than anything I realised she had and I can see that it would be a core of part of her game lolYeah it's ok to use cause the range is so much shorter than charged you can whiff it to make their counter to charged dropkick whiff and then punish that or use it slightly close to make them overestimate how much time they have to counter(use it close vs people that are confident in their ability to counter hit the charged dropkick and you'll get crush counters, which will cause them to respect the charged one slightly which can also lead to crush counters)
No it's single st mp. It's a link not a cancel so it's pretty doable. You can wait till after the mp recovers and link it instead of canceling early.
Cr lp is good but cr lk is better unless you're specifically trying to challenge a gap. If you're applying the pressure with a meaty there's no reason to give up the low starter aspect when apart from that they leave you the same options if they're blocked.
Her frame traps are gonna be cr lk/lp into st mp(4 frame gap but it's kinda rare to find someone brave enough to challenge this. St lp, st mp(beats everything but invincibility) and charged dropkick into either st lk xx st mp target combo(punishable on block so confirm off the st lk) or just st mp which will beat 3 framers. You've also got a ton of frame traps off f hp cause it's plus 3 so pretty much everything works after that, it's also a pretty grimy tick throw with ex punch command grab.
CMd grab range goes ex punch with the most then ex kick and outside that the lighter the button the more range(with the punch ones having slightly more range than the kick ones at even levels). Regular throw only outranges heavy cmd grabs i believe. And yes you use regular throw because it can't be punished anywhere near as hard as a cmd grab.I C. can I get some tips on the grabs, am I right in thinking the least damage ones have the most range? because they all seem to have the same frame data amongst buttons. and tell me about the EX versions? Also, her regular throw - does it outrange her cmd grabs? if not, is it's use just safety? hard to eyeball this stuff and nobody ever seems to talk about it
if my lp shoots up in my first week of playing mika seriously and on pad too, you absolutely have to admit that shes easy to playCMd grab range goes ex punch with the most then ex kick and outside that the lighter the button the more range(with the punch ones having slightly more range than the kick ones at even levels). Also there's a trick to increasing her cmd grab range. Instead of just doing hcb plus the button do hcb, fwd then the button. It's slightly tricky but because of input leniency you can input the grab motion then walk forward a few frames and finish it there are pseudo tick throw setups where you've gotta input it like this.
There's a number of reasons it could happen but sure. Whatever makes you feel better. But I guarantee if you learn Urien or Laura it'd be easier than learning Mika. Hell I've played Laura for a week and I take sets off my super/ultra platinum friends vs their mains lol.if my lp shoots up in my first week of playing mika seriously and on pad too, you absolutely have to admit that shes easy to play
I play most Vega. I'm Silver. Yeah Laura is pretty straight forward. There's a number of reasons it could happen but sure. Whatever makes you feel better. Also what's your lp at? Rarer characters get free wins at lowish lp. Fang is probably top tier vs gold players cause they don't know the first thing about the matchup.
Edit: who do you play regularly?
Mikas definitely easier to play than vega. Only characters imo that are harder would be akuma, Karin, and guile imo. That being said they're all still pretty easy.I play most Vega. I'm Silver. Yeah Laura is pretty straight forward.
ive also played a fair bit of Chun, she is much harder than Vega makes him feel like easy mode. Most SFV combos are fairly easy, shes the first I've found to actually have a key combo I can't consistently executeMikas definitely easier to play than vega. The late cancel on sbk? Yeah it's not super easy to get the timing down but it's doable.
