Street Fighter V General Discussion

NaCl man

Welcome to Akihabara
Guile isn't affected by the Shoryuken buffs. Only Ryu, Ken, Akuma, Cammy, and Juri. So, I guess Ibuki, Necalli, and Guile will have the same properties they have now.
guiles mk flash kick will have the same invincibility as the mp srks

you should check the notes again
Oh damn, didn't see that! That's a nice buff for him.

Can you explain the charge hold frames change? That's the one system change I didn't fully understand.

Hold frames for charge moves
  • The number of frames necessary to complete a charge has been increased from 6F to 10F.
Developer Comments: The initial change, where we reduced the total number of frames needed to perform a charge move, was made to keep unintentional attacks from coming out. Unfortunately this has made those same charge moves all that much harder to pull off.

To fix this, we’ve increased the number of frames needed to perform a charge move, but have still kept that number of frames lower than Season 1. We think that this will ensure that the charge moves will come out much more reliably, while feeling that much easier to perform.

We're all from Earthrealm. If not, cool pic brah.

it changes how long you need to hold back before pressing forward, to make a charge special come out

the buffer window for charge moves to come out has been increased. they decreased this in the first patch from half the original frames 12 to 6, because of issues charge characters would have executing command normals with such a big window for the charge special to accidentally come out.

For example Guiles f. Fierce is his backfist command normal. If I blocked a spaced Urien ex dp and wanted to crush counter with backfist I'd sometimes get heavy boom accidentally because of awkward block stun or late reactions whatever.

Now they increased the window to something in the middle since players are having trouble executing charge moves

Yup. A lot of the time with Urien I'll get a lp headbutt if I'm trying to stop crossups with jump back jab. Hopefully this helps.
Wouldn't this change make the accidental headbutt happen more often, since they are increasing the buffer window from 6 to 10 frames?

On the other hand, he'd be able to do headbutt loops or walking headbutts more easily, wouldn't he?

No, it changes how long you're able to input the forward and attack, after the back charge. The length of time needed for the back charge is the same.

Edit: oops, @NaCl man beat me to it.

According to my stream time it literally took me 3 hours to go up 600 points and I lost a single game to a yolo Balrog. Would've been on a 60-something streak but now its just 34.

600 points 60 games. Must be nice to down there with u guise lul I hope they fix this matchmaking for real

It's kinda obvious but just want to make sure, In v-league on player stats on casual and ranked, is that the record of the matches, like for example 350/450 would be 350 wins and 450 losses? On both casual and ranked?

Oh is it just the buffer window? Never mind then, but no it won't, unless Urien has like 10 prejump frames which im 100% sure he doesn't. I thought they were actually increasing the charge time my bad.

I was thinking that if you charged down, went to neutral for 4 frames then hit jump back then punch 3 frames later then you will get headbutt instead of jump back punch since it's within the 10F window. Right now you would get jump back punch since it's not within the 6F buffer window.

Yeah I try not to do it like that. It's more consistent and faster to just jump back and try to delay the punch by 5 frames(pretty sure that how many prejump frames Urien has).

What do you think separates yourself from the typical ultra plat / diamond Guile? What are you doing better?

I've personally hit a wall recently (not with Guile, but I figured the question would still be relevant) ... curious what you think usually separates super diamond and up players from ultra platinum / diamond. What are they doing different?

the truth is I've worked harder than them to understand the character and his matchups. most of the general gameplay problems people complain about with sfv can be overcome with practice and the game is rarely to blame for their losses, yet people will use it as a shield for their ego. Especially anyone under super diamond.

there's no real excuse (besides online issues) why, for example, your birdie shouldn't be a higher ranking when there's 2 birdies in master rank right now. Not the character or the game. you're just not working hard enough on your problems, it's that simple. you have to get your mind in the right place while you play and adopt a beginner's mindset again if you're stuck. To top it off I really just like my character, the playstyle is literally me

Short answer would be decision making. Not exactly guessing, more like reaching a level of understanding of the game, you, your character, the opponent, the opponent's character that you just seem to "know" things. That's what separates players after learning everything else.

This is an excellent response imo. Work harder means play more so you can learn and adapt more also.

It's all so very confusing.

I like it. A reasonable and intelligent post with a minimum of u guise and luls!
