We got some good stuff from the patch, all of Shang’s strings now combo into straight skull/straight skull Amplified on all characters. This is really good for corner, living them standing and going for throw/114 mix
Before the patch a string into straight skull was whiffing on females

We money match all the time to prove what is the best every week in tournaments.

Except here this man has given yall the opportunity to go straight to grand finals against someone that is probably not as good as sonicfox.

Anyhow, hype is dead anyways since this will never happen.

@deathstroke187 respect the hustle, but I think Shang Tsung was definitely in the upper half of the roster. The nerf was pretty hard hitting so he definitely dropped. Although he can still play the same game as before, Damage is important as now it lets the opponent make more reads against your playstyle. The reason it was so scary before was that it was an unreactable mid from a very far range that yielded 25% damage or more. And when spaced correctly would not be punishable from a majority of the cast.

The problem I see with the nerf though, is the move is also his combo potential move in addition to that zoning threat. So it definitely feels like he got hit twice with the same nerf. Design wise I assume they wanted more incentive to use soul steal to get damage, as it IS an iconic move of Shang Tsung. Before patch, there were few characters that the Soul Steal was really worth the risk because any combo you would have landed on them assuming you opened them up right away would do slightly more than his regular combos. Now I think it becomes almost a 50% damage potential increase since your avg. damage is 250ish. And a soul steal combo will give you 370ish on the upper ends. +the Throw mixup after.

I think he is still strong. For being a character with many unique properties he is good.
