This is false. You called him an idiot and swore a lot. I'm not telling you how to speak to people, but people will listen more if you don't resort to personal attacks.
Case in point, I think I've been really polite with you, and yet you've said stuff like calling me "big guy" (see down below). Shrug.
I'm not sure what you mean. Are you asking if I have proof that there have been violent protests?
If this is a genuine question and you actually have not seen any evidence of violent protests, then sure, I can provide a bunch of links. But I'm genuinely surprised because as much as there have been many peaceful assemblies, there are some areas, like Portland, that are a complete warzone.
Your first mistake is using Fox News as an example. It is a right-wing news source that will glorify right-wing views. Much like CNN will do the same for left-wing news.
Other media sources, like Twitter, Facebook, and many sports organizations are quite supportive of the movement. Hell, the law firm I'm at even has BLM plastered across its website page.
Sounds good, I'll do this. Curious to read more about it.
Bill Clinton is not running for President but he clearly has ties to the democratic party and they are using him as a support vehicle.
You're right, I did assume you support the democratic party (I mean, its a two-party system after all). Apologies for assuming.
But that doesn't change anything, really. Whether you support the democratic party or not, they are still using the likes of Bill Clinton to push their platform. And he is a sexist piece of shit.
I think I know what he meant, but if he wants to explain, he can do it. I don't want to put words in his mouth, it will only create confusion.
I literally said I support the BLM movement. I am critical of some of the things that exist around the movement, as I have expressed in this thread, but at no time did I say I don't support it. I also made it clear I don't support Trump.
Do you think I became a human rights and employment lawyer because I hate minorities, or something? lol.
I am not asking you to "dice up" anything. I am saying that things have come a long way in the U.S. especially when compared to other countries in the world. All I am trying to do is say that the U.S. is not all doom and gloom despite being a shit-hole.
Could Michael Jordan have become a billionaire when slavery existed?
I'm genuinely sorry you feel that way. Like I said, I help people who have been discriminated against and had their human rights violated, so I am sorry.
Well, slavery is illegal in the U.S., no? I do believe oppression exists, sure, but your issues with lack of health care, and homelessness are not related to slavery. Rather, those issues are related to a terrible safety net and social infrastructure in the U.S..
Affirmative action programs that give minorities more funding than white people to get into good schools? Good reparations. Letting people steal a Gucci purse in the name of social justice? Bad reparations.
I'm all for affirmative action programs, but the "reparations" I have seen on display is just people looting and vandalizing random shit that has nothing to do with anything. People of all colors, by the way.
I'm all for the creation of programs that give minorities the freedom and flexibility to pursue education, enrichment, and all of the other life basics.
I agree, and this is why I said I don't support him.
I am not saying that being a Marxist disqualifies BLM. You said in your previous post that people would respond to BLM by labelling it as Communist, and Marxist, in order to attack its character.
I responded to this by saying that BLM's co-founder called herself Marxist. That's all.
Well, there shouldn't be anything political about the statement "black lives matter", I agree. But its obvious that political undertones have been inserted into the movement. For example, BLM used to have on its website that it wanted to "remove the nuclear family" (recently removed by BLM, by the way). And when you click on donations on the website, you are taken to a democratic party donation site.
I'm not saying this political tie devalues the movement, I'm just saying there is a political tie.
I am not denying systemic racism, I agree it exists. Please stop being condescending with comments like "big guy". I've been very respectful towards you this whole time. We're adults. If we were having this conversation in person, you might realize that I actually agree with you overall even if I have a few critiques about some things.
Respectfully, you misinterpreted the point of my comparison. I was trying to say that even though the U.S. has obvious issues with everything we have identified, there has still been some progress. I gave a personal comparison just to show that other parts of the world are also fucked.
I have literally said I support BLM in principle and that I agree systemic racism exists. I don't know how many more times I can say it before you understand that I:
- Agree systemic racism exists; and
- Am not saying I understand it better than you.
