Community Concerns Regarding NEC '13

Why would you think I would purposly fuck with brackets in a tournament I wasnt even playing in. I came down there SOLELY to help run this thing for you guys. And Im sorry not everything went according to plan, and I wish I had more control over when shit got started and I wish I could have made everything perfect for you guys. Thats all I was ever wanting to do. You were there dude. Didnt you see me screaming over that megaphone all day? I was working like a slave for you guys, trying my best to get shit done. I was heart broken when the hotel kicked us out. I would have kept running pools until I could stand or shout anymore.
Is it really so hard to believe with all the shit I was dealing with that I forgot about an arrangement with RIU48 that was made 2 weeks prior?

Do I really have a reputation of being a liar and a cheater in this community? If so I will gladly step down. Im not here to ruin anyones day and if my oversight was so drastic and Im such a fucktard because of it, then I wont ever run another pool again because it seems like alot of you feel like im seriously not cut out for it. All I can say is I tried my hardest dude. Im sorry it wasnt good enough.

there are shit load of concerns and all this will be discussed this tuesday during the on blast show. ur more then welcome to come on the show to discuss things also with us. i feel ur pain and have a lot more i wanna add to this. i sure as hell gonna be venting out about NEC!

I have been saying this for like a year and half now, ever since I started playing MK9 competitively.


WHY THE FUCK ARE TOURNAMENTS NOT ON XBOX???

It's obviously the better system, I have never seen it lag ever offline on xbox, I felt the lag on ps3 many of times. If you use Freddy's EX Spikes on certain stages the game will slow down for a second. All X-rays lag. Hell stage lags. On xbox the hell stage does not lag, X-rays do not lag, there is no Kratos, there is no Kratos stage, Freddy's EX spike does not ever slowdown the gameplay..... I have heard from multiple people that FPS feels much better on Xbox than it does on PS3. Pretty much everything about Xbox when it comes to MK9 is better than everything about PS3. Not to mention it is easy as shit to get a converter for ps2 and ps3 controllers on Xbox, but it is not that easy to find converters that let you play Xbox controllers on PS3. I had to get a controller modded so I could play an Xbox controller on PS3, which costs like $100. So again, let me ask:

I paid around $140 for my Xbox360 to PS3 converter + a wireless receiver.
Converter is not that hard to find, XCM makes good ones. Dunno why you had to go and mod your controller .

Im not upset about you questioning the situation, though I do wish you would have come to me at the tournament itself. These things are alot easier to resolve in person. I cant put sincerity into type the way i could talking to you face to face.

But what I am wondering is what have I ever done to either you or Showtime to make you think Im not telling you the truth? To make you think Im a liar?

I understand it is not fair for someone to be just added into the tourney after the pools were already made, but we should be glad more people play this game. Imagine if some player like cd jr, tom brady or pl arrived alte and couldnt participate. A tourney without tom brady is not half as good the experience, just saying...

Yea I get it people procrastinate but this is ridiculous and yea i get it more money would be made by delaying registration for 12 hours but NO the foot needs to be laid down.

I do agree with this. What this thread turned into was something that can be resolved face to face. The good that comes from this, is that other issues about most tournaments are being brought up and can be addressed. This thread wasn't all about NEC, but NEC was the "straw that broke the camels back" so to speak.

I wouldn't take it so personally Rob. Many of the issues in OP are common theme in all tournaments.

I'm not calling you out, man. I'm voicing the concerns of everyone at NEC, not just myself. The only difference is I have no problem coming out and saying it publicly, which IMO needs to happen. NEC is over, I don't expect to change the past, I just want attention brought to the issues at hand for future events. No more players making brackets, no more late additions, etc etc. I've talked to you many times and you should know that all of us at GGA respect you, but if the situation is shady I will call it so, and if you're caught in the middle of it by association, I am sorry. I am not directly saying you personally chose to place Riu in a later pool even though he hadn't registered and are now trying to keep it quiet. I am saying that everybody knew he was coming to play casuals, he was not registered, and suddenly he finds himself entered in the tournament after most of the pools were already done. That is what the people see. This isn't a personal attack, this is a call for changes to be made.

I can't believe some of the things going on in this thread.

There is absolutely no reason to think that there was some sort of conspiracy going on with Riu48 being added to the brackets. It is true that he said a couple weeks ago that if he's able to go he won't be able to make it until late Saturday. After everything going on that day, I didn't even remember that he might be coming until he showed up in my hotel room. One of 16bit's complaints when he was blowing up was that pool 8 was too easy compared to the others. This was probably to account for the possibility of Riu showing up. There's no argument I can see here that something sinister was going on. What would that do? Do people think Riu48 found out Krayzie was in his pool Saturday so he spent the whole day at work practicing against Cyrax on a Vita or something?

For people like SwiftTomHanks, it is also a stupid argument. These were some of the most balanced brackets we've seen in recent days. They worked hard on this shit. 16bit being in the same pool as STH means..... what, exactly? Bit beat him pretty badly in tournament anyway. I get the idea that it leaves an opening for speculation even if nothing is really going on, but what is our alternative? Having MLG style brackets where we don't even take player skill into account along with tournament placement seeding? The people who know non-top8 placers and how good they are would be the PLAYERS. I'd rather have more balance in the pools even if people are speculating on shit. Soonk, what would you rather? Having a balanced pool with someone you have a "history" with that may or may not be a purposeful placement? Or having bracket makers who have no idea who you are and putting you at the bottom of a stacked pool?

Who should make the brackets for grass roots?

I really want to discuss this because with fr coming up ive said NUMEROUS times i dont want dare be near it. Shinblanka and I talked about it and i voiced my concerns and recently txted him about the nec stuff and just said "we got to avoid this and we have to get it right"

It sucks cause it has to be someone whose very knowledgeable of the scenes players. This needs to be discussed.

What shin and I discussed was forming for FR a "Elder Bracket Gods" and have 4 people from different areas (TOs, community members, etc) collectively make the pools, bracket, seeds, etc.
