Wrong! He has been bugfixed, the nerfs are yet to come!
The bug fixes made the character worse than he originally was. Therefore, he was nerfed.
And honestly I don't buy that bug fix scaling crap. That's just NRS not wanting to admit that they made an unbalanced character so they call obvious damage nerfs to multiple characrers "fixed scaling". Sounds better than normalised I guess.
Also ex cartwheel was straight up nerfed, not a fix.

Fish can hear you thinkin just before you sneeze
The nerf to his overhead starter isnt that bad imo. Couldnt his overhead string be armoured through anyway? I tend to catch people with the low starter more than the overhead, plus Hes still got the faster one that causes a knock down

We'll pretend everyone can punish -8 from that range on blocked F24 k? "OMG YOU GON GIT BLOWDED UP" No.... you're not.

I love how the OP added the -8 and -2 together to say you could be -10 from the overhead. haha.. that was golden.

35% down from 40% OH NO HUGE NERF! His damage wasn't scaling correctly, and it was stupid easy to do too much damage... the end.

The frame adjustments weren't even character specific. Read the patch notes. There was a bug that was causing the intended frame data to be over ridden to +2 on a laundry list of attacks. Kung Jin had some that were included. What does this mean? THOSE MOVES WERE NOT SUPPOSED TO BE SAFE TO BEGIN WITH AND THE ONLY REASON THEY WERE WAS BECAUSE OF A BUG. Just think about that. His overhead was only safe because of a bug that was over riding what the developers coded into the game ORIGINALLY. I don't know how to be more clear than that.... and Ibasically just said the same thing twice. Bug fixes do not equal nerfs. They fixed a bug. Not target Kung Jin specifically.

He didn't get "normalized.." he didn't even really get nerfed. He had bugs removed that were benefitting him undeservedly and unintentionally.

Can people stop saying these characters didn't get nerfed lmao. The damage scaling is a nerf. Raiden was not fixed, his damage was outright nerfed, the same with Kung Jin. That's just their way of saying nerfed. The frame data changes were apparently bug fixes, fine, I can buy that, but the damage reduction on several characters is not a fix.

It's a fix if it was never intended, dude. Come on...

Who cares if it was a fix or a nerf? Call it how you want, all that matters here is that Kung Jin is now much weaker and maybe it's time to change main

All too easy...
Remember when Bojutsu was first shown off on the Kombat Kast? They described his air fireball as his main tool, saying he puts out the fireball so they cant jump and then out-footsies you when you are forced to stay on the ground. They didnt describe him as you run up and mix them up into 40% without thinking twice about your actions... Maybe Kung Jin players should try doing that and I dunno, ADAPT. I bet 90% of them don't even know his air forceball exists lol

Been playing the past few hours. I can definitely feel the ramifications of all the changes KJ received. He's more of an 'honest' character now. Let's be frank, having 1,1/f3/3,4 0f on block was retarded, and the damage he received off stray hits was also retarded, although they could have eased up on the added damage scaling. Must you work harder and be smarter in how you approach matches? Yes. Did KJ lose his excellent footsie tools and long range normals? No.

Adapt and adjust to the changes, it's not as bad as people are making out.

221 was always safe. 112 is nerfed by 2 frames. Obviously the nerfs aren't huge but they do matter. Are the scaling nerfs to Bo Swat or something else?

I.e can someone test these two combos are say which does more? (they did the same prepatch)

B14~BoSwat, U1(or run3)~BoSwat, Divekick, run34~BoSwing
B14~BoSwat, nj2, run34, Divekick, run34~BoSwing

Another fix that no one mentioned that hurts Kung Jin's offence is the instant forward jump 2 normalization. He can no longer jail you as he did before. With this fix, 11, f4+2 and F3 beeing negative, he's not going to be an "in your face" character as he used to. He's going to have to rely more on his range to start his offense. It all makes sence cause Kung Jin was probably intented to be more like a character like Aquaman in Injustice. He's still really good, it's just his gameplan that will have to be different.

They could have missed frame data inaccuracies easily, but you're telling me throughout all the testing they didn't realise characters like Raiden and Kung Jin were doing way too much damage? Nonsense. They knew how much damage these characters were doing, but now in hindsight they realise it was too much damage, so they nerfed it and called it a scaling fix.

Tell me, do you bleed?
It was a BUG. It was supposed to be -8 all along but the game treated a lot of shit that was supposed to be neutral or negative as +2 on block.

Also -8 means that SOME of the cast get to punish, and they only get a 1-frame-link punish. Boo fucking hoo cry me a river. They miss 1 frame, JUST ONE FRAME, and instead of you getting punished, they are.

GTFO.

Right because you developed the game and you know how it's supposed to scale.

"Try to cover it up"... GTFO.
I can't believe some people really buy the way NRS will present the nerfs. "Fixed" this, "wasn't scaling properly". Actually, what they mean is: "it was leaving everyone salty, and we want people to keep buying our games, so we nerfed it." Of course, on many occasions they're right with those fixes. Saying Kung Jin's outstanding pressure was a programming error is being seriously naive. I agree that -8 isn't that negative in this game; you can still block most attacks after that, you're just put in stand by for a little bit. Kung Lao will Spin the shit out of him, though.

First we had the Sub-Zero community crying, now the Kung Jin community. Greeeeeatttt. :DOGE
Oh, really? I thought first we had the community of every single character from mid to low tier crying for nerfs for both of these characters. Both characters may still be good, though, on that I agree.

Are ya' ready for MK11 kids?!
Okay, thus far I've honestly been the voice of reason concerning Kung Jin, but some of the crap I'm reading is ridiculous..

1,1 being -2 on block ends his pressure? Man god forbid Cage players in MK9 could never put up with a blocked F33 being -4, his pressure must've been pringles.

F2,4 being -8 makes it undoubtedly punishable? By who? Kung Lao, Reptile, Liu Kang, and Raiden? Maaaaaaaybe Mileena? That's not a very wide spectrum, on top of their respective best possible punishes not being that impressive and they still have to respect your option to cancel into EX Bo Swing.

And about his damage being nerfed by 2-5%.... yeah.... some of the areas where KJ is able to score a conversion, other characters get, y'know.... 0%. And nothing about his conversion toolset has changed, his could still very well be the best in the game.

On the contrary, if I catch any non-KJ player a year from now having nerfer's remorse, Black Adam style, "oh poor Kung Jin, why did NRS nerf him" and all that jazz, I will immediately redirect you to this thread.

You do realize that heaps of shit get overlooked during testing, right? Why do you think there are day 1 patches and shit like that? They can't catch everything and I'm sure not everything was able to be tested.

Either way, Kung Jin is more in line with the rest of the cast now, as he should be. There's nothing wrong with having a more balanced roster.

I'm seeing hella salt in this thread lmao.

If I was a Kung Jin main I'd be running around like it was christmas because NRS could've Kano-ed him, but instead he got the Superman treatment. He was stupid good, now he's just really good and people have to work a little harder.

So some characters are better than him now - welcome to fighting games.

Lmfao I love how people think King Jim was targeted with these nerfs. Talk about narrow vision. IT WAS A GAME-WIDE FIX.
But no don't buy that from NRS, it's not a fix it's a nerf. Kano's b1, F/T's d1 and f32 and tons of other crap in the game getting fixed was just a part of the Illuminati's plan of nerfing KJ.

Could I borrow your tinfoil hat for a moment?
