Fujin Discussion Thread

DarksydeDash

You know me as RisingShieldBro online.
What have you guys been doing for Meaty to stop your opponent from jumping? I've been using B1 and F4 but people still wanna hold up because the damage threat isn't there.

Is there something unique you have to do to cancel his single hitting normals into D~U like F3, B2 and F2?
These all have different cancel windows. F3 is the largest and easiest to cancel out of; you have ample time to hit du after this hits.
B2's cancel window is delayed just as the opponent is being pushed towards Fujin, it takes a bit of feeling out but it's basically later than you would expect.
F2 can't cancel into anything but 1+3.

For B11212 you want to hit the cancel as the sword is returning to Fujin after the 3rd hit, but before it reaches him.

My working theory for why it doesn't cancel the same is that it the cancel window is small, and the input happens faster than you think because there's no face button involved, so you miss the timing, which is why the suggestion of inputting ddu I got from someone actually did help some.
I think you're right on the money. Lack of face button changes the timing, but all we need to do is hit UP on the point where the cancels occur just like we would with a face button normally.

Once you get used to it there's no problem.

And most of the combo routes are starterxxdu ampxxdd, stringxxspecial?

Is Sky Wakka bugging sometimes or something? If the opponent character flinches in the wrong way after you hit him with a string it seems as if the Sky Wakka misses quite frequently.

Yes.

I have noticed on occasion that the opponent will get knocked in the wrong direction somehow, but it doesn't seem to happen often.

This is the first time I’ve said this in an NRS game...but sky walka just might be too execution heavy for me lol. I like V1, but it’s so clearly worse. I haven’t played a ton of difficult characters in the past necessarily, but this is a struggle for me.

Maybe I’m spoiled by this game though, because most characters I just mess around in practice and stumble upon bnbs.

Well trust me, I'm a guy that has a hard time implementing Shang Tsung's B3U4 and 3U2 in his game because I find the input weird to do on a match.
Sky Wakka and Fujin in general is the kind of character that is stupidly hard at first but once you know what to do you can get it to work 95% of the time.

The trick is canceling Sky Wakkaa slightly after the second tick, if you do it early it won't extend the combo, if you do it precisely when the 2nd tick happens it will knock the opponent far away but trust me it's not hard to cancel it at the right time. As for the rest of the combo, if you play Downburst you probably have mastered everything you need. After canceling Sky Wakka you'll go for the usual 4,2 into DB2 and just like in Downburst you want to let it come out on neutral for a split second, then you finally move the tornado forward, if it connects you see how easy the dash into DB4 is.

One thing that might happen is that after 4,2 the opponent might be a bit more far than usual, in this instance you don't need to do the neutral tornado, you can go forward immediately that it'll work. But this is something I wouldn't bother when trying to learn the character. If you manage to get the combo down you'll naturally learn how to adapt the distance.

Is Downburst DU~DB2 cancelling really practical online? Is it even doable consistently? Still having a hard time confirming it every time.

I live in Brazil and my experience playing the game online here is pretty much stellar. If the connection bars are green regardless of wired or wi-fi the game plays perfectly. I don't know if where you live you find a lot of laggy matches but it should be 100% practical online.

Unga bunga dude

Ive been trying to nail the best ways to deal with mindless stompers with v1 fujin. This all works fine and dandy but v1 sheeva makes this all interesting with the delay. If you wait too late or just do normal db2 (no advancing or retreating) it trades.

anyone got tips on how to stuff the v1 stomps?

Edit; This was a dumb question, and would require a delorean going 88 mph to see where in the future they are going to stomp.

The conversions also work with highborns tele kick and upgraded’s bounce.

Man...I have to say, this character has reignited my will to play this game.

V2 finally brings some execution to MK11, and I'm loving feeling a feeling I haven't felt in a while since all I play lately is Granblue...getting excited about hitting my combos in match.

If they solve some of his whiffing issues I think V2 is an awesome character. It sucks that you have to burn defense bar for your bnbs but b1 is a great normal, needle is a great cancel, and air wakka is genuinely hilarious to troll people with. I'm having more fun than I ever had in this game.

Same, dude. I hit the b11212xduAMP cancel 42xdb2 b11db4 in match twice just now and peed a little.

For the Shokan since Mk3
Can anyone give me some tips on how to Sky Wakka to come out with B11212. I honestly can't find where you're supposed to input Sky Wakka in the string
