That's 9 tournaments out of how many?
The number of tournaments are irrelevant. Competitive players are going to go where the money is, and NRS/WB sponsored tournaments are going to offer the most money. If someone wants to set up a community event using whatever rules they want, good for them. But I can't imagine they'll get much participation if the prize money isn't there.

In INJ2 I played a lot of Robin. I really wanted the Staff of Grayson just to mess around with in player matches. Guess what? I never fucking got it. Ever. Hundreds upon hundreds of hours and I never got it.
Ha, I think that's basically the first thing I got. Probably within the first 5 mother boxes I opened. Life is funny sometimes. I never even really played Robin.

flawless block must be the biggest shit a game dev. ever has released
NO ONE is using it.

i havent seen any of the top tier players use it ONCE in their streaming sessions.
nor did i ever see some of the NRS guys use it at the kombat kast gameplays lol
Because it’s something you have to practice, a LOT. I was practicing FB’ing Kitana’s D1. At first it felt impossible, then I started getting the timing down. The timing is really strict especially on quicker moves like D1’s.

I often FBing unintentionally idk If it's just me but it is quite common

Noob Saibot
Here's my list after 2 days of 99% online matches.

  • Noob is underwhelming.
  • Kollector is my favorite character to play at the moment.
  • I dont like the wakeup system especially broken hitboxes (Kollectors U2 for example whiffing on people jumping in.)
  • RNG Krypt
  • Fatal Blows are are a really bad comeback mechanic. It puts the game on standstill due to fear of a yolo move that can make a 75% health lead turn into a 40%.
  • Netcode is iffy
  • Having to make tournament variations before blabbing a character is dumb. They should already be premade and have the "trophy" symbol next to them.
  • D2 krushing blows make throwing out high attacks useless.
  • Tournament variations are terrible.
  • Zoning is practically useless from my perspective and if you dont have. Character with a mix, good luck.
These are my main gripes. To be honest I'm kind of not feeling this game at all. I'm almost forcing myself to play.

Hot takes?

1.Over half the cast feel incomplete. Seriously, so many characters feel like 75% of their full moveset/ability potential bc of half-assed variations.

2. The game in general feels rushed as hell, even if the combat is pretty fun and the mechanics work well.

3. We should not forgive NRS for the freemium bait & switch lootbox economy bs. Every time buyers turn a blind eye to shitty tactics like this another AAA dev adds shitty tactics like this. Professional bitching should be encouraged.

So we're not even gonna attempt to have a conversation that could lead to a better game because of some money that 90% of the competitive scene will never touch. Gotcha.

TYM's #1 L taker.
Game feels like it needed some extra time in the oven.

That being said there's a lot of this game I like. I enjoy the gameplay and characters A LOT more than MKX and I feel that a lot of criticisms about MKX's different from MK9 gameplay are being reiterated for MK11.

I think the game is going to be amazing a few months from now, I'm worried about how many people will actually stick around that long tho.

Here's a hot fuckin' take:

Why are the developers setting the rules for our community events? Honestly, if the default preset 2 variations are more fun and interesting than the ones prebuilt by NRS, there's absolutely nothing stopping us from running tournaments in plain ol' versus mode and using the built in presets. Or fuck, even creating our own community list of tournament approved variants. It'd be more work for TO's making sure consoles are correctly set up, but shit, we have to customize tournament chars for training mode already anyway. We can balance the game to suit our needs, not what NRS thinks is best for online ranked, which is 100% how they've approached balance in the past.
I now support custom variations, but I still believe they would present a logistical nightmare for tournament organizers as well as players. The following would be a couple of my oncerns.

1. Time limit in tournaments. How much time would customizing your character take? How much longer would it take to re-customize your variations in order to counter pick?

2. Speaking of counter picking, how do you manage counter picking in tournaments? Are "blind picks" for moves reasonable?

3. A plethora of regular moves and special moves. How would your opponent know which moves have been customized?

I am not sure you can resolve these issues by giving the middle finger to NRS. We would need their help and support.

Dumb grind and Tower stupidity notwithstanding, I think this game is really good.

The lack of Rain or Smoke however basically means it won‘t ever be a 10/10 for me. They did a good job of making lots of characters interesting so you‘d want to try them, big props to NRS for that because it‘s not always easy.

Seeing how good the gameplay is, how cool all the new designs look and how awesome the graphics are makes me feel bad that we might not see those guys in 11. I hope there‘s more DLC characters than what was datamined.

Has any PC people found anything yet?

That's not what I said. Personally I'd love to see customs used at tournaments, and I hope NRS considers it going forward. I was just trying to offer an explanation to your original question as to why we allow NRS to set the rules. It's because they sponsor the tournaments and pro tour, so people play by their rules.

This (soap bar in my mouth) tutorial with Skarlet/Barka where you have to press Up 3 after blocking the first two hits is (soap bar in my mouth).
Ya, the whole Flawless Blocking thing just isn't a mechanic that the majority of people are going to use. I guess it's fine if you're a person with super reaction time, but for normal players, it's something that will randomly happen by accident on occasion, but by the time you notice the message, the input window to put in a counter because of it will already have passed.

That's not really an issue, since it's an advanced mechanic and better players will be able to use more advanced mechanics than average players. However, when it's part of a progressive reward system in a tutorial, it's just dumb to have it there.

Idk if it's just me but I feel the Flawless blocking Is more of a lucky press thing atm

I don't think we can go full customs just because of the logistical nightmare you just outlined. But something like, the 2 tournament variations plus the 2 built in preset variations. Or even an approved list of prebuilt variations. It would be extra work up front to make sure the legal versions are available on each console. Each char also has like 10 ability presets besides the 2 tournament ones, we might look at those because they're very fast to set up.

The main point is, a Lot of the variations we have now are kind of sad and some are nearly unusable. And we have this crazy awesome tool for tuning the game that we haven't really seen exist to this extent. (Smash miis are about the closest thing I can think of).

I don't know the best way to do it, but let's at least try talking about the possibilities.

All too easy...
Couldn't agree more. Anyone who thinks this shit is ok is part of the problem.

Locking Brutalities and Fatalties behind horseshit RNG, loot boxes or absurd grinds that aren't fun whatsoever is not ok.
2 years straight of playing Bane and I never got to backbreaker anyone, not even the damn bot
