I think you make too much sense.. this comment clearly has no place in this discussionCounterpicking has a good argument for and against. When I first started playing, I was completely against counterpicking because I thought ti showed a lack of class and sportsmanship. As I became more seasoned and started playing in tournaments, I learned that you do whatever it takes to win matches. If that involves counterpicking, so be it.
In short, it depends on the environment you are playing. If it is a tournament, counterpick if you must. On the flipside, use hidden select to ensure your opponent cannot counterpick your character of choice. If however, you are just playing casuals, then pick whoever you want and don't worry what the hell the other player does.
Bottom Line - It's just a damn game and there is no unwritten code of ethics. Play the game the way you want to play it.
in a game with with three variations for each character...no, you right. mkx is a game thats supposed to discriminate both tiers and counterpicking with other characters based on the three variation style of the game. its funny because all tym cares about is tiers and almost everyone counterpicks. oh, the irony (counterpicks>variations)In your eyes, why should anyone play by your rules or play how you want them to play? We aren't here just to earn your respect. And counter picking isn't even being disrespectful to the game, it is just a strategy, that is all.
You try entirely too hard to make it seem like you've rubbed people the wrong way. Does it REALLY matter that much to you whether or not you irritate someone? I mean, if anything, you're only irritating people by posting all of this bile that you continue to litter these forums with.Funny how you're even in this thread then and having to feel the need to defend yourself. The statements made have bothered you to the point of having to respond to them which means they must ring true for you, especially in the angry manner of your response.
I don't see your point then. You're against tier whoring but support it at the same time? What is going on hereOh sir, I'm not in any way saying tournament gameplay should mirror casual gameplay. It is well understood and accepted that tier whoring is a well established practice among tournament players. No arguing there. Playing a top tier character when playing for money is the smart way to go, actually, the only way to go.
There will always be counter-picking in every game. If there wasn't the game would have 1 character with 20 different costumes to choose from. Everybody would main Liu Kang and pick which costume was their "Main".I personally don't like counterpicking because I want to see people work through bad matchups. I was expecting to see a form of variation only counterpicking but not this grand scale of character top tier counter picking. But I couldn't get mad at somebody counterpicking, because that's how most people win these majors and get the prize money. I feel good when I see A Foxy Grampa and Wound Cowboy win tournaments because of them sticking with their mains. But hey, if this game were balanced better there would be no counterpicking.
This is the only correct answer. It's only looked down upon by scrubs.
The fact of the matter is counterpicking will always be looked down upon. That's why its an issue that can never be corrected. As long as you have a game with characters that are stronger than others because of DELIBERATE design, and not just "it happens to be that way" players of those character will always have to stand up and voice their defense because if not, no one will want to play with them the moment they choose one of those characters and have a ridiculous win/loss ratio like 986 / 275 because the opponent knows what he/she is probably going to encounter. That's why so many people decline online, too many Erron Blacks, Shinnoks, Jacquis and Kitanas with such outrageous win/loss ratios. The title of this thread was reason enough to have been created and so many responding. Because its a real issue and the top tier whore players must respond in defense or suffer acknowledged guilt of being fragile-ego cheap asses.
Well since I killed everyone, I wouldn't expect them to say anything at all...You can't bring a gun to a knife fight, kill everyone and expect people to say "dang, u gots skillz bruh" lol
I'm not even sure if (s)he is trolling. It wouldn't surprise me at all if that's how they act in every day life.I play Erron Black guys, am I a tier whore?
Seriously though, can this NY-Shadow guy get banned already? I've seen him in like 4 threads and every single one of them he's just stirring up shit. Obvious troll is obvious
According to "her" profile it is a chick, but I'm skeptical of that. Just another trollish aspect of that lonely guy's TYM presence.I play Erron Black guys, am I a tier whore?

While I personally have no issues with someone counterpicking, I honestly think for some people it's a matter of wanting to see how players "figure things out" during a set. It's similar to why some hate "tier-whoring" (tier whoring being those who specifically pick up a character AFTER knowing they're ridiculously strong). It can come across as an admission to being unable to beat one's opponent in the mindgame/fundamental areas. They're not good enough at the game themselves, so they rely on their pocket top-tier or favorable matchup to fill in the holes in their ability. If you are able to play multiple characters at a high level and strategically select particular characters to exploit certain matchups in tournament, this is a testament to your mastery of a fighting game and more power to you. Am I missing something here? Why is it considered an insult to call someone a counterpicker rather than a compliment??
Why not create a fighting game with 20 different characters, but whose matchups are 5-5 for each against each? That way people would finally be comfortable to play with their favorite characters without feeling an obvious disadvantage. Tier system sucks to be honest, but this is just a dream to have a fighting game with matchups 5-5 and we have to deal with harsh reality, unfortunately. There will always be counter-picking in every game. If there wasn't the game would have 1 character with 20 different costumes to choose from. Everybody would main Liu Kang and pick which costume was their "Main".
It means he's gonna fucc him up!best believe player A is gonna wait outside the venue for player B and do some educating.
This.It doesn't matter what tier character you use online anyway- just how much you jump.
