Interactables need to be disabled for tournament play

LOL what? How dare you, good sir. Disabling interactables would make this a legit fighting game. I will not have any of that noise.

As I've said for a long time now, most tournament players are just waiting for the next MK. I know that sounds cliche, but a lot of tournament players are from the MK era and I'm willing to bet they will drop this game for MK, which means.....goodnight nurse.

Time will only tell the Greats
interactables shouldnt be banded because some characters MU will change big time but being honest why band interactables when The Flash has no need for them when he has 50% plus combos and then others like bane kind of need them to either counter zoning or use for spacing when vemons out and then also they help in other MU's jus dont think they should be banded for 1 or 2 characters who we all know are really good in this game

i love interactables . they give stage position outside of how close you are to corner meaning and adding depth to my game plan/flow . i appreciate good players altering their combos on the fly to use them properly . i also like to see peeps avoid them when they are used wrong or better yet punish them .

if your fighting zod and he gets trait out in position to throw 5 barrels at you ...you deserve to eat them because you let him get there .

if your fighting joker and he lands the bgb you deserve to deal with his teeth traps .

fighting batman he resets you with a bomb setup .

plaza roomba into bgb into transition (pure awesomeness)

i could go on forever lol . interactables are a massive part of the game and take a lot of practice to use right and avoid consistently .
props to those that embrace and master them .

and it could also nerf some characters who could use interactables to their advantage (NOT JUST THROWABLE ONES) and change the ENTIRE meta of a game that has been developing its meta for the past year. This game recieved such a BAD rep at evo last year and now we're getting a shit ton of exposure and people are finally beginning to see the hype and diversity in this game. it got accepted by MLG for christ sake and people pretty much want to stop and restart the meta from scratch?

people only see interactables, and think OMG otgs and 30% free damage and all these misconceptions, while yes all these things are possible theres a lot more to it. having the interactables on the screen just adds a whole other layer of "footsies" and "spacing" to the game. Lets say, I'm nightwing and i have a life lead on grundy on waynes manor, my job is to space myself properly so i can avoid any interactable he chooses to use. and even still, if you're standing and someone just randomly throws an interactable you can MB through it for baby damage and possibly punish because of the crazy recovery most interactables have. I'm not defending interactables because i play power characters, or those who abuse them.. i play nightwing and zatanna. All i'm saying is that it's a part of the game and has been and plays a VERY big part in the games meta. if you have/had trouble with people just throwing shit at you.. thats your fault, there are ways to avoid it.

Nobody is arguing that they can't be learned or avoided. The fact is, when two players choose their character in tournament 2 random stages pop up and one is selected. In many situations that stage selection can easily change the matchup of the two characters, thus determining the outcome of the match. If you can't see why that is ridiculously stupid then I fear logic is lost on you.

Stage selection should have no bearing on your tournament fate. As I understand it, it also took the smash community a while to realize this (at least according to the documentary). I get a chuckle when I see them dictate a match, maybe that's not a bad thing. Guess it depends if you think it's good when people laugh at your game.

A year ago I argued for them as the game was young and I thought it was too pre-emptive to just out them before people actually learned them. But now we see there effect on the game and the outcome of matches.

i believe you misunderstood. im not saying i'd be upset if interactables were taken out. like i said, i play nightwing and zatanna.. i barely even use background bounces. so i'm kinda neutral on the whole situation. what i'm saying is, with all the hate the game we got at evo, we are finally coming to the light and having something really awesome happen for the game and community. making a change this big could potentionally change the ENTIRE meta of the game and essentially, it will become a different experience. So close to EVO, MLG, CEO and UFGT, it just wouldn't be a smart decision to make. If this change were to happen once evo ends and we restart the entire tournament season, then yeah, it'd be kinda fun to start fresh. It just doesnt seem wise to change the meta up right now, especially since it's what we have all been playing for the last year.

Marvel 3 players have been dealing with Vergil and Zero for the past couple years, but they have fought and found ways around it and ways to deal with it. why change the entire game by banning them just because u couldn't realize their potential when the game first started expanding? now that they are deemed "broken" everyone wants to be lazy and holler "BAN THEM" rather then find ways around it.

anyway.. im pretty neutral on the situation, it doesnt effect me regardless.. i just think the game was built to be played the way it is right out the box.

lol

Have fun fighting Sinestro, Zod, Deathstroke and Martian throwing shit at you and zoning your ass Oh! and Batgirl blows up dynamite shit in your face.

What Perfect Legend brings up, this could very well be a universal buff for you and other characters but you are just too stupid to realize it.
i like fighting all those characters and using my own interactable combos and setups .
hg has wing evade , back dash , high jump , flight , mt , mc (universal luck of multi hit auto block) for avoiding them depending on the situation .
it is a major nerf to hg turning them off .

In Zoning We Trust
I main Raven, and I am only allowed to vote towards two, possibly three stages in the entire game depending on who i'm facing. Every other stage is a disadvantage. Some 5-5's leave that realm as soon as I lose the stage select.

I don't know what the solution is, but it shouldn't be this way.

Ayy Lmao
I've played with no interactables a few times with @Akromaniac27 and they were pretty fun matches. We weren't constantly jumping up trying to throw a tv or some shit.

Idk why people are saying the game is gonna turn into MK if we turn them off. The walk speeds aren't gonna magically get faster, there isn't gonna be any dash blocking, normals aren't gonna do a fuck ton of chip, there isn't gonna be P1 advantage, ect.

I want them on for the main reason being: Fortress laser for Arrow. Swag swag swag swag swag swag swag
Agree, the flip side of the coin being, a couple match ups would actually be a little better for Arrow with them off. But again, without background bounces we loose some damage too.

But I don't wanna live in a world where I don't have the option to throw a dead pig at someone, even if it does help my character in the long run.

Exactly. Not everyone uses Aquaderp, MMH or Batgirl, where you're pretty much worry free of interactibles. Because if that what it comes down to, for eveyone to main them, this games scene will go down inevitably due to the same repetitive nonsense that sent it down before.

All the talk of leveling up and adapting is redundant too. Gee I'm so fucking sorry that unlike an AI, I guessed wrong on a mix up and now the combo carry put me in an unblockable OTG situation. My bad guys for being human
