General/Other - Kitana XL Kitana General Discussion

You can also do 24 fan, jump 3 fan, 33 lift, 33 ender. Easier inputs for me since Im learning Kitana! and it only shaves off 3 percent mid screen. And yes, 24 its a pretty safe string too.

On a side note, I picked up Kitana about two days ago. Do you guys think she complements Scorpion well? I play Ninjitsu and I was never really sold on Hellfire due to Ninjitsu punishing everything for 30 percent meterless, but I need a zoner (which hellfire counter zones) and I wanted Kitana due to her combos giving you damage from anywhere on screen where a fan meets your opp in the air. Any other suggestions of who I should pick up alongside Kitana to cover her weaknesses?
The combo i posted actually does 34%, not 35. Sorry my memory was a bit fuzzy as i haven't practiced much since the patch. I did find a 46% meterless corner combo though.

Kitana is a lot better now but still has her fair share of Fd matchups.

It uses a bar of meter to do a tiny bit more damage (even using ex lift instead of regular lift in a combo adds more damage than using ex throat slice at the end), it has no armor, she already has a safe special so using it for that is pointless (especially since she can do rising fan > ex float instead), and I don't think it has any special uses. It doesn't seem to have a reason for existing.

It has solid backing. Throat slice is useless outside of combo ending and neutral crouch reads. Other then that...nope. You could literally erase this move from Kitana's arsenal and it wouldn't hurt one bit. Period.

well look on the bright side, it's still used for one of the easier brutalities in the game.

Does anyone know the absolute optimal f112 corner combo and b14 ex fans in royal storm? I've been labbing her for ages.. these are the max i could find with no jump in,

f112 fan, ji3, s3 fan, Micro run forward, s3 lift, ji3 fan, ji3 xx float njp, Instant air fan, 111 bf3: 39%

b14 ex fan, b14 fan, ji3 fan, ji3 xx float njp, s3 fan, d1 lift, u2 fan, 111 bf3: 51%

If anyone knows more damaging versions, please tell me, I want to optimize my combos as much as possible :eek:

You don't have to run in the first combo

But yea that's the damage I get too. I use different combos but still the same damage

Kitana is weird in how she can do so many different combos but end up at about the same damage anyways.

yesterday l found one specific against jonnys wake up kick ... b3 df1ex comes out as db1ex

I say very slightly because 5 then 3 deals very slightly more damage than 3 then 5 due to scaling. It's incredibly minor but it's still there.
both normals have 0.95 damage scaling
so B14: 3+5*0.95 = 7.75
F33: 5+3*0.95 = 7.85
however due to all the hit before this has huge damage scaling already, this 0.1 difference might become like 0.05, meaning we can all ignore it and focus about more important factor: because F3 is slower than B1, and because you must land it after a second ground fan, there is a high chance that you drop your combo and get punished (F33 has horrible recovery on whiff)

I find it easier to land than B14 just because the hitbox is better. The enemy is knocked up extremely high when you hit late with the jik. A couple times the 3 > fan made the fan fly straight under the opponent they go so high.

I didn't disagree with you though, I just add a bit calculation there to make things more complicated
Funny thing: i'm wondering what kind of damage Kitana can do if she gets Tanya's standing 4. I think she can reach 55-56% with 1 bar corner without sharpen
 
I see all combos say jump in 3, is this better than jump in 4 after they launch? Also aftee you launch them and run I see most of you guys do 33 then ender or 33 lift, but I find it easier to do 11 lift, basically doesn't matter right?
Edit- just tested this out, the damage of running and doing 11 or 33 into lift is the same, seems 11 has more range though and easier to do.

I use jump in 4 for everything. 11 is like 4% damage compared to F33 being 8%. Do you mean B14?
