UMK3 Tier list discussion

I think the tier list is accurate to a cerain extent. It's just an overall generalization of what should happen. But anyones tier list isn't 100% accurate or even 90%. There's some characters that are high tier that alot of people are really bad with. I know a few people who are absolutly garbage with Kabal, and do good with C.Sub, and Liu Kang. I just think a tier list is 70% opinionated. My tier list would have Kung Lao near the bottom. Why, because I can easily beat a kung lao, and I'm complete garbage with him. I obviously won't beat a better player who picks him, but if were equal skilled than I know that I'll win. And there's some characters who are low tier that I have alot of trouble with. I have trouble against: Mileena, uSub, Kitana, Sheeva, and Sonya. When someone picks these characters I get really pissed.

Anyway, I think tier list are good, but they are just for general situations that may or may not happen.

Well most of the time I will. Kung Lao is just easy for me to beat.

She doesn't rely on cheap moves to win. She has an enormously easy auto combo that does 40%+. Her HK's are far range, unblockable special moves. Her sweeps are long as well, and she's very hard to juggle.

Facing CD i'd rather face his Kabal than Sheeva.

Good Kung Lao players are a big pain in my ass to go up against. Hell, I don't even feel comfortable using R. Smoke on him. He definitely deserves his spot especially in the hands of someone who can use him well.

As for Sheeva, I think she's better than some characters like Cyrax and Liu Kang, but definitely not Unmasked SubZero.

IMO Sheeva is a UMK3 version of Jax in MK2.

I think she can be fucking deadly in the right hands of a MK2 player. Ever fight MK2princes Sheeva? You don't want to. lol

What you guys don't realize is that cheap abusable moves = higher tier rank, saying a character doesn't rely on cheap moves to win is arguing against yourself. Sheeva can win matches, but it requires a lot more effort. No, Sheeva is no higher than bottom tier. She is placed last because other characters in the bottom tier have semi and universal infinites, but in general, she can compete with the bottom tier easily and most of the mid tier, but once you get into expert players with mid tier characters, an expert Sheeva's chances go way down because the play becomes lopsided.

Phoenix, your tier list is nothing more than a preference and honors system theory. If you lose a lot to Sheeva, then you need to learn how to play against Sheeva, because even a good Sheeva should get no more than a couple matches against you if it comes down to familiarizing tactics. She's limited and there are some things about her that make her harder to use in general.

I was not saying she was top tier or saying she should be raised at all, but if you use her correctly like a fucking MK2 Jax, she will take on anybody. If you have any mk2 skill at all you will see what I mean in the way she plays. She can defeat a lot of skilled players man.

I still disagree now that you've explained yourself though. Sheeva does suck. If a Sheeva is beating you, you should be able to take her down on patterns alone. Jax was a Powerhouse in MK II. As far as I know, Only Mileena could stand a chance against Jax. Many characters can easily beat Sheeva. Unsub, Ermac, H Smoke, Kabal, ect.

If you want to go with your analogy, then ANY character can be a beast in the right hands.

The only reason why people think that nobody but Mileena can go against Jax, is because they suck. The end.
