The gear unlocks that change gameplay has me pretty confused, I can't think of a way it would work well, I'm not trying to be negative we don't even know much about this new "Unlock" system yet but it would suck if you could only do certain combos if you have certain pieces of gear. Is it a progression unlock system? RNG system where you just get random loot? Will you be forced to wear a certain piece of gear and keep the way it looks even if you don't like it just because of some stats? How the hell will it work with alt costumes? They could have it to where all the gear kinda just works with all the alts they plan to release but that would for sure rule out some fan favorite DC costumes. Like a lot of them. I don't know there is like tons of questions just about that one area of this game. I hope they break it down at E3.

Prediction: variations are back but in a different way. youll pick a single character and build meter toward a transformation, kinda like overwatch ultimates. once you get it you can do 1 of multiple specials that will armor you up based on which transformation you choose (trailer looks like batman had both green lantern and red hood armor ups), so you can mid match make the call, im winning and wanna zone, im behind and need extra damage, i need more mobility ect.

I expect that tapping into the armored up form will be an even more drastic difference between each than MKX variants. there will be no reptile. so youll basically be learning a few characters when you learn 1. i dont think any of them will be simple additional special moves. lots of strings should be changing or added. if the transform also uses super meter then managing meter will be even more in depth, with some characters that can do well without transforming potentially wanting to save it
