Iron king ascetic runs for the 1m takes less time than getting the 4 primals, atm i think fastest route to Drangleic is this (took me about an hour to get to Iron King):
Dragonrider > drown the miracle bitch lautrec style > Skeletons > Covetous > Mytha > Iron king (up to like NG+++++) > Shrine of winter @ 1m.
Hardest part to speed run is the first half of Iron keep, purely cos you get ruined by the archer if you cant make the jump to the old ember.

I think that some of the speedrun dudes are doing the same method, and also The Rotten can be farmed just as easily to the 1m, but i think its marginally slower (and a pain in the ass to get to). At this point you also have access to like 3 branches of yore, so you can go pretty much anywhere for the NPC vendors/blacksmiths.

I did notice that when you go to Drangleic without the 4 souls the Emerald Herald will tell you its a bad idea.....

So far i guess the only place in the game that sucks really hard is shrine of amana, but you only need to pick up the lightning short bow +1 from Iron Keep and buy like 50 arrows and you can kill all of the mages from pretty much the max draw distance and its fine.

See what the fastest time is to iron keep and how to get all those ascetics, 1 hour and 45 mins is the base speedrun time for the whole game.

You need way more arrows than that, I came very prepared with bows and shit but from max range on my dex build I was barely doing any damage, needed at least 40 arrows to kill one of them.

http://speedruncharts.com/ds2anypercent.html -- Tylers got like 34mins as his first iron king kill in his million souls% run, though i havent watched the run so god knows where the ascetics come from. I thought that one respawned every time you used one, and also Chloanne (harvest valley) sells one for like 7500 to get you started, but im more than likely wrong

Edit; Makes sense actually, you only need the 4 kills on the iron king, so 3 ascetics = starting gift + chloanne + the one in the lava in iron keep you actually spend like 1 minute getting them.

I was killing the mages in shrine with iron arrows , 4 to 5 shots each from max range, i dont know why you did so little damage

So am I the only one who really only plays this shit for PvP and looks for speedruns so I can quickly make new builds? I like the story and will look for it online and pay attention to stuff but when a man wanna pvp a man wanna pvp.
I hate speedruns in any type of RPG. I play RPG's to immerse myself into the world, as nerdy as that sounds. I get way more out of the game if I explore every nook and cranny and really pay attention to the story line(s). I want the full experience, and that simply cannot be achieved from doing a speedrun. It wouldn't even be fun to do a speedrun, at least to me.

I enjoy PvP, but right now it's not as fun as it was in DS1. Like I've said before, it's a lot more braindead and derpy right now, so I'd rather focus on PvE. That said, I still do plenty of PvP. From dueling in the arena, invading people, and bodying invaders. I love being ganked by PvE, then getting invaded, and proceeding to not only destroy the PvE, but also body the invader in the process. It's happened so many times already, and it's the only time I really feel satisfied with a PvP win. Duels in this game are just boring because I personally don't see much skill involved in the current meta. There's still some skill, and the better player will win more often than lose, but there's way too much randomness and luck involved at the moment. And for the record, I'm not saying this because I lose a lot of duels or something, I rarely lose. Not bragging, I use OP shit and tactics, which is precisely the problem.

Well obviously you play the game the first time man, I'm not playing the game being all like "o thats a cool ass boss but when am i getting my buffs yo". Just don't wanna run through what eventually is recycled content.

Man, derpy, random and unbalanced when DKS1 was a backstabfest? Everyone I've seen so far is happier with this game, it's generally agreed upon that DKS1 had the worst pvp of all the Souls series, one of the reasons I didn't play it, even if we ignore the shitty netcode it had.

They should've brought back DeS backstabs instead of just eliminating them though.

I havent gone to NG+ yet outside of ascetics, still havent fought the last boss, but i have 2 characters in the same position where i can go fight her, and also my third and 4th characters are both in iron keep (for the ember), i really liked the PvP this time round, despite it being odd im enjoying it to the point that im spending most of my time invading, and my Soul Memory shoots up, so for now i just re-make a character, try a different build, have some laughs, and then eventually i will take whichever one i want to play most through.

Speed runs are REALLY fun. Not as fun as actually playing the game through the first time , when you are stuck in Forest of fallen giants for 2-3 hours because you didnt notice the elevator going to the last giant, and you cant open the door to the pursuer, and the spearmen stunfuck you... but when you think you want to put your Flame Swathes down for a bit but you dont have the strength to wield anything noteworthy, and you dont have a soul vessel to do that with.... being in Drangleic castle with enough souls to go to 150 already and you only started 2 hours ago... thats good shit!

The story is fun and all but this. I Just want to pvp maaaaaaaaaaaan. I Pretty much drop my sign down at iron keep bridge a all time for duels or I'm destroying bellbros in the tower.

Yes, I need to get that dagger, where do you get it?

Parrying was always my thing but the DKS netcode just didn't allow it, guard breaking and cheating the shit out of your opp seems to be the thing now.

Strength weps sound very interesting.

I still want to see that katana that the game mentions but no wiki or forum yet does.
Bucklers or rapier has a better and longer parry animation than the parry daggr.

Anyone here rocking the Zweihander? I'm a STR build and it has been unmatched for me in how useful it is. +10 Lightning Zweihander is amzing. I also find that I love the Faraam helm too much to put on something else, so I'm rocking that with Fengarl's armor--very nice stats on Fengarl's set.

What other suggestions do you guys have for STR weapons? I have the Black Knight UltraGreatsword, but its only +2 or +3 and hasn't caught up to the +10 Lightning Zweihander. I also sunk all of my Petrified Dragon Bones into my Pursuer's UltraGreatsword, only to regret it now that I'm seeing how beast some of the other UGs are.

STR weapons? Should I be aiming for a powerstance of 2 UGs?

Is this PSN only, does it bypass soul memor yand how do you do it

Answer
I believe it's just for PSN right now. I don't know about an Xbox megamule. Basically, it does everything the mule for DS1 did, but it does not give you max souls in your counter, you have to use the consumables in your inventory. Your soul memory starts at 0. For PSN, just download the file at the below link, then create a folder called PS3, and then a folder inside of that called SAVEDATA. Then just drop the folder with all the files into it, put it on a flash drive, and port the save data to the PS3.

Forgot the link. http://www.nextgenupdate.com/forums/ps3-trophies-gamesaves/723628-dark-souls-ii-mega-mule.html

Its an RPG game, throws you in the deep end big time. Most enemies will 1 shot you if you are not fighting strategically, so you battle it out with them and struggle through. Go through the next door and you are probably now looking at 15 of that enemy that just 1 shotted you for the last hour, get ready to die some more!

Big Bosses, tons of weapons, tons of spells, tons of pretty areas, dark caves, fiery mountains, all that good RPG shit that we love. Then you get the online where players at any point can invade your game, in the area which you are currently struggling to get past the enemies themselves, and now theres another player with his badass fireballs from hell shooting you in the back of the head annnnd YOU DIED.

XP and Currency is dealt in Souls. enemies drop souls and you pick them up and store them on your person. You cant deposit souls, only spend them, and when you die you drop them all on the floor, you go back to the start of the area and all the enemies respawn. If you get back to the spot you died you can reclaim them, but if you die before that, you lose all your money/xp and back at 0.
Anyone who plays this game loves it, if you like baldurs gate you will no doubt love beating shit up and collecting shiny stuff!

Your dude starts at base level with 0 souls and 0 soul memory. You have 99 of every soul in your inventory and once you consume them they add to your soul memory.

I actually forgot to check if my soul memory went up after using the consumables, but your soul memory starts at 0 when you first choose one of the mule characters.

Its left quite open as far as your character build is concerned. Weapons and spells have certain stat requirements to use them. When you start the game you pick your starting class, and this determines how your first few stats are spread and the weapon/spell you start with, but after that its free game. Every level = 1 stat point (Strength/Dexterity/Vitality/Intelligence etc) and you allocate them in whichever way you want your character to go.

Being specialised is pretty good for PVP and engame stuff, wasting your stat points will mean you cant max out your effectiveness. You can level until all stats are 99, but the community has agreed that level 150 is where the pvp happens as it makes you specialise to an extent, so we dont just see people with giant swords and 99 in strength firing spells with 99 intelligence and invincibility with 99 endurance.

The idea is that if you want to cast spells, you need to invest into intelligence, that means you have less points to go in strength etc, so it balances itself out by setting a level cap for pvp. Also makes your character feel specialised. If you want to be a mage, you can, but you lose out on the ability to wield the big weapons effectively and proably heavier armour will be too heavy and slow you down.

There arent defined classes, but your playstyle should definitely influence your stat point allocations

No races. Yes classes. However, the classes really only matter in that they give your stats different loadouts. You can learn pretty much any spell/miracle/hex and wield ultra greatswords/bows/staffs with any class. Just helps a little to have a better stat loadout from the beginning for the build you want to play (ie choose sorcerer if you want to be an intelligence build).
