Man I need my 360

This game can be a pvp paradise with the right nerfs to magic and pyro. So many weapons I wanna try

Zerker blade, darkdrift, inquisitor's, crypt greatsword, defender and watcher swords, dual poison manslayers, etc.

When I speedrun my second char ill get him to 150/200 so I can test every one of these.

Can anyone with a spare vessel tell me if you're forced to respec all your points? If I'm 150 am I forced to go 150 again or can I stop at 125?
When you use the soul vessel you have to re-assign every point yep, no way you can de-level i dont think.

Theres so many awesome strategies in this game now, crystal magic MLGS is kind of dumb but as a min/max point of view that kind of damage on an int build is hard to pass up...

Im currently trying with like 50faith and 35 strength i do plenty of damage with my sword and "Force" to get people on the back foot if they wont open their defence.
If WOTG wasnt so hard to come by, i imagine that would be fun to play around with too on a Faithsword build.

Watcher sword looks pretty good, but you cant CMW it, as its got the same kind of 2hL2 as the defenders (a magic buff) but it means spare attunement slots/levels so its more suited to a mellee focussed int build.

Hm...looks like someone didn't take his daily supplement of git gud.

Can you drop soul vessels? I've got like 11 and give give you guys some.
Cant drop them nope. Not too hard to come by though

People who summon you into poison cloud/lifedrain patch/flame swathes and then spam soul spears and forbidden sun your way, whats up with that shit.... Dont even mind the MLGS damage compared to these idiots. Almost as bad as people who summon you and empty their stamina bar onto your back before you even stand up... this games got a long way to go, but its definitely funny as hell.

it's a shame Great Magic Barrier doesn't block 90% of magic damage anymore
On the contrary when you get a shield with decent magic/lightning/dark/fire resist and imbue it, you can get like 100% magic resist on some shields and people are not ready for it.

I mean specifically the spell great magic barrier. Blocking magic with a shield is fine, but walking through spells like a champ was the real deal

Yeah i have tried it since i got into this faith build, i think its more like 20-30% resist to all elements/magic types.... i ended up swapping it for force because being able to airhump people off cliffs is winning.

word, I've been trying to find a few miracles or pyros that are pvp viable. Sunlight blade + Great Magic Barrier + WotG was my standard for DS1 but WotG is out of reach and Great Magic Barrier caught mad nerfs

pyro is mostly garbage. I tried flash sweat + immolate for the lolz but that failed miserably. poison cloud is marginally useful as area-of-denial but that's about it.

I feel like avelyn is much more viable than any ranged-casted anything. maybe poison cloud + avelyn shots?

Santier Spear swag is off the charts, too. Might be viable as Lightning + Sunlight blade even though the damage is a bit low

My build atm is 50 Faith with 35 str and lightning defender greatsword in each hand. Spells are Force and Emit Force (really slow though)... force is really good in pvp. Emit force is more for people who want to run and drink, it hits for like 800 damage but has a silly start up and fairly poor tracking

Dual wielding is what i wish dark souls 1 had done better, it lets you cancel your 1 handed r1 or r2 attacks into themselves, rather than their followups.

get a weapon that can follow up on successful stunlocks and also has a decent roll tracking move, and stick it in your offhand. Something like a spear/halberd offhand is really good for catching people (katana dash attack into offhand halberd r1)

theres some really shady stuff going on already with this, not sure if its lag or something but when i hit someone, see their guard break animation and go to followu up, only to see myself get backstabbed..... lets hope that i dont have to see that guy again.

halberd/spear in the off hand? intersting
Its preference obviously, but having a second moveset to use can really help. you can still 2 hand your main weapon, or off hand, or if you have the stats can powerstance... just seems a lot better than shields to me!

Man, I wanna make so many builds lol.

But first thing ima do is make a freaking ornstein build. I've been using that spear since dks1, why the nerfed it is beyond me.

I'll definitely check it out; I like seemingly mismatched weapon sets that actually have synergy.

My favorite DeS build was Blue Blood Sword + Offhand Uchi

Anything is viable if you know what you are doing, and have decent reactions. Not factoring lag i would say you can beat anyone with any build as long as you dont get hit by tryhard pyros or MLGS R2.

I've been spreading my stats out throughout all fields going for well rounded as opposed to being a specialist in any particular area and that seems to be working really well for me. I haven't run into many hard troubles this way.

I also find helping out other people via summons has leveled me up much, much faster too. The fact that it allows you to acquire a lot of souls and if you die, you don't lose them while being in another person's world and you get to help people, plus it sometimes restores your humanity if you succeed so you save human effigies is a win all around.

I'm having a blast and actually making steady progress, I don't feel nearly as lost or like I'm struggling as much as I did in Dark Souls one, but maybe it's because I've decided to level up a ton before advancing to the next areas each time.

Killphil

A prop on the stage of life.
Well we have seen how hidden weapon is down right cheap, let alone a ring that does the same. But for PVE,....yeah........
I see the applications. People do tend to back up/get more defensive/evasive when I bust out the large club and it makes it tedious to lock them down. I just think the reward should of been something different. I mean do you really need to hide your MLGS when it one shots people anyway? ;)

Has anyone else realized you can backstep while blocking? Not only is there iframes in backstepping, but you can also block while backstepping for almost 100% defense. I don't use a shield that often, but it seems WAAAAAAY more viable in DS2 than it was in DS1, PvP or otherwise.

I've also found some really interesting combos with a lot of different weapons and spells. There's so much variety in this game, jesus fucking christ!

this games not friendly to dex builds.
What do you mean? I have 2 Dex builds and they both do very well in PvP and PvE. Claymore, Halberds, Shotel, Katanas, and many other weapons are fucking ridic. I haven't even made a Str build yet because there seems to be a lot more and better options for Dex.

The problem with evenly distributing stats is if you're going for the PvP cap, 150, your character won't be optimized. If you're not level capping, than stat splurging should be okay. Side note, if you are evenly distributing ALL stats, try out the mundane upgrade. It scales with your lowest stat, so if you're not level capping AND evenly and equally distributing stats, you're gonna have a beast of a weapon scaling.

Also, keep in mind, that if you help a lot of people with bosses at a certain level, eventually your soul memory will be too high, and you'll hardly get summoned anymore for that boss. I'd advise that once the summoning slows down, to go level up and move on to a new boss.

My katana playstyle is outdated it seems.

You can backdash while blocking and then attack with a running attack, it's my go to whiff punisher with manslayer.

That's nuts, I guess you can bait it and whiff punish, but it's still a really good tactic.

I've been absolutely crushing people with parry ripostes in pvp. Riposte, if they live hit em' with a lloyd talisman and laugh as they run around wondering why they can't heal while you finish them. With at least 20 adp parrying is really easy. Especially with rapiers/bucklers/falchion
