In all honesty, a lot of things in SFV are fucked up and were better in previous (and other) games.
I don't want to be one of the people that just does nothing but bashes the game, then goes on to keep playing it, but sometimes it's super fucking hard to look at the really homogeneous gameplay, often terrible character design (aesthetically), Awful alt costumes that cost money, almost worthless FM system with the stupidest, most laughable 'mission' structure ever, idiotic hair and body clipping, total lack of polish, terrible online (every aspect, from lagg to features), incomplete features spread across every aspect of the game, bizarre balancing decisions that tell me they dont entirely understand their own game or the state of that game.. Shrug.
I look at the game and I start to wonder if the simply fact of the matter is, the SFV team just lacks the talent, expertise and management to make this game what it should be.
The thing is, SF has long been 'the' game, I feel like a LOT of what we're dealing with in V is because Capcom just figured 'yeah, well, people will buy it and people will play it because its SF' .. but that dominance stands to be challenged in the coming year. As FG players we are spoiled for choice this year. KOF (and there are hints at a PC release coming), GG Rev/Rev2, INj2, MVCI, KI, etc. In the years to come, we will likely see MK11, and this is something that doesnt get mentioned much, but remember the robot fighting game Rising Thunder? The devs and company were bought out by Riot. This hints to me Riot at least has some interest in entering in to the FG competitive space and IF THEY DID, SF is in trouble, because Riot will have the financial chops to FORCE a game they make to be big, and lets be honest here, professional players arent going to stick to SF if Riot is running a fighting game with heavily structured leagues and tourneys that are paying 2-3x what we see from SF tournaments.
I want to be clear however, that I WANT SF to 'win'. I want them to fix the issues and make the game as great as it could be, because the core systems are excellent and I still feel like the gameplay experience just cant be found anywhere else. The neutral and footsie heavy (compared to other games) is something you just dont see elsewhere. The game just needs more depth, a functional online and a competent team to lead the game moving forward.
