Street Fighter V General Discussion

My rank is Super Silver but I never play ranked. I've just been playing battle lounge. I've never played Gief in ranked actually.

I don't think he's in that top tier, but I do think he has the tools to compete now. Probably a few bad MU's but not like before. It's too early to say for sure.
Okay. I was jw. It matters what level ur playing of opponents ur playing him against. He is a bronze/silver crusher imo.

He's Def improved save for the vskill/white life relation. But let's not forget that all of his worst matchups got (arguably) some of the best buffs in s2. They are INarguably much stronger.

I find a lot of really good players in Battle Lounge. Some of them are Super Platinum and other have no rank at all. I gave up on ranked a while ago as many others have. You get to play longer sets in Battle Lounge and there is less wait time between matches. Overall, it's a much better experience.

Which Gief MU's do you think got worse in season 2?

Urien got buffed in numerous ways. And he has chargeable multi hitting, speed changing fireballs. His normal game is even stronger and his aa got better.

Sim makes it even harder to walk forward and block to close space now that he is positive after his main zoning normals.

Guiles booms do more damage. His normal AA is now a crush counter. And his grab beating normal now combos regardless of counterhit.

Chun I still need time to see. She got some nerfs and some buffs. I am not sure how this will affect the matchup as a whole but I expect it to still be difficult.

Gief, like Sim, is a very polarized character. He's meant to get destroyed is some mus. And crush others. However I still feel like the quantity and quality of his good matchups does not match that of his bad matchups.

Paul the Octopus

Slow Starter
The combos are generally pretty easy in this game, so IMO most the training room time should be spent practicing things like the jump back OS tech, meaty setups, characters specific answers to gimmicks (e.g., Karin's rassenha), and difficult hit confirms (e.g., off target combos).

Urien, I agree with. He got overbuffed. I don't think there is a character that got better in the Urien Matchup. He's possible S tier now.

Guile MU seems like it could be better just based on reacting to booms with lariat. White life could be an issue though. Headbutting booms doesn't seem realistic unless you are very close or fullscreen.

Sim sounds worse.

The Chun MU seems like it would be better for Gief just based on all her nerfs and all his buffs. Maybe she still wins but it would have to be better than S1.

How do you feel about Nash? Still bad?

I fought a Nash yesterday. He still is a pain in the ass to catch. Depends on how much you let him get away with. It's 5 5 at best imo. But that's a good shift from where it was. I'll have to play a few more nash mains to know for sure.

As far as Guile goes, because of the speed differences it's very challenging to headbutt consistently. Instead u eat a lot of unnecessary dmg trying to. I just watched Hagejin eat like 6 in a row trying to headbutt them lol. And he has an advancing normal to punish lariat.

Chun might be slightly better, but it still sucks. Make no mistake.
