Will third variations have an impact on the meta?

So here's something that brings me no end of amusement about discourse surrounding MK11:

We went from characters like Summoner Quan and MKX in general and Injustice where there were looping vortexes, ambiguous cross ups and heavy set play and everyone complained.

Now, people are taking a strike/throw mix up - which is one of the most basic mix ups in fighting games - and we're treating it like it's the most broke shit ever. What do people want? To never have to make a read or guess? Those things are apart if fighting games.

Something something, footsies and whiff punishes (why would I stick out any limbs if you don't have any tools to open me up though)

Are you not entertained!?
Btw, new variations have nothing to do with the meta. Not even individual character changes. General game fixes changes the meta, like removing armored launchers in MKX. Now these I'm hype about to see. Some changes I hope to see is giving flawless blocking more advatage across the board, like maybe recovering 3-5 frames earlier on a successful fb and reducing damage of comboable krushing blows to 250 or less, but they wouldn't scale. Also to not be able to cancel into fatal blows would be drastic, or let them bo cacelable but remove the armor. Except Shao Kahn, because he should be the do big damage character.

That's not the definition of milk.

Milk -
exploit or defraud (someone), typically by taking regular small amounts of money over a period of time.
My point was that they aren't here to milk it.

They clearly have a strategy built around giant cash infusions rather than trickle trickle over time.

i really feel Shao Kahn takes it honestly , probably the worst character design from NRS since mk9
he actually has a desgin pattern around his buffs.

but NRS really got scared of how they'd play and just literally nuked them.

Mid matches change when he has a hammer buff out. People block more to avoid poke into annihilation KB, but then they eat a 200 damage throw.

His spear charge tho.... that thing is hot cacca.

shao is so easy to keep away , i mean even his leap move gets frozen by sub frost ball at his peek.
every long range moves are way too slow. his spear is hot garbage. he doesnt have enough FUN kbs. he has god like s1 and d4 and b4 though. I feel like patience beats shao kahn everytime cause hes not that scary up close either. he doesnt feel like a boss he feels like a low tier to me.

I'm not gonna argue with your opinion, I just got home from work and I dont feel like it.
I believe Fun is not strictly dependent on picking a top tier and you assume their losing anyway so fuck that argument, we're not going to agree and I'm not going to bother, Move on.

Now Let's be real and call 3rd Variations what they really are: a last ditch way for NRS to spice up the meta instead of ditching official Tourney Variations and going full Kustom.

But even still will that impact the meta? I think it will but in a small way and then it wont be long until people will claim to have figured out the game in like 2 months.
I say finish out the year with this pretend MKX we have and then next year just go full kustom and we see what happens.

What a day. What a lovely day.
It won’t change the meta, no. It will simply add a fresh breath of air to the game for about a month.

However, we don’t know what mechanical changes are coming either, so it’s kind of pointless to assume either way.

You’re mixing two criticisms. They took out ALL of the fun things about nrs games and people are complaining. Nobody asked tor all the fun things. Just the really dumb fun things.

As for the people complaining about broken mixups... “broken” is relative to a game’s meta. It doesn’t matter how you lose, if character’s have tools others don’t then, yea, people will complain. Who cares what the term used is.
