Sometimes I wonder how much money I've saved in my life by having never touched alcohol
I think about that as well, but came to the conclusion that, as much as I've poured money down the drain for drinks, I've probably saved myself from pretty questionable decisions/environments/nights out by simply staying cozy at home savouring some mojitos and watching dumb stuff on the internet lol

Dizzy used to be a Johnny Cage Player, and a really good one, today he is a Q.A at NRS and has been learning game development on the side to further his goals (Soon to be developer) on the franchise he loves.
Eric Tiberius Tran, started here as a player, was also a comic book artist and worked for NRS as a concept artist for Injustice 2 and MK11. He is now employed as a concept artist at Tripwire studios, bro is living the dream, and yes we still keep in touch till this day.
Mishimastar Went from being a mishima player to a Q.A at namco for tekken
Kohei Ikeda "Nakatsu" went from being a tekken player from a tekken developer for tekken 8 being now the third pillar along Harada "game director" Katsuhiro, Michael "Game Producer" Murray.

I know the number is niche, but the path to success at videos games doesn't just need to be from playing and earning, become a pro player and being invited to big events with big cash, i think this is the dificult one, but if you're really good at it, there are other ways to be successful at, Tom, REO, PL, Check at some point worked for NRS, but they don't anymore.

But i would still advise to get a job that gives you a wage daily/weekly/Monthly rather than betting on competition to get money, i know for a fact that Skar used to be a really good player and really good at the characters he played, one of the best to rival sonic fox at his prime, and today he has a work schedule and barely has any time to play.

These things happens
Agreed. People need to have something substantial to fall back on and as you said, there's a lot of ways to make a career out of video games outside of just playing them.

There's nothing wrong with chasing a dream, provided you're practical about it.

Imagine writing all that when I already said Mike Hollow is nothing special and is the definition of mid.

This is legitimate mental illness at this point. Bro is living the "I was just pretending to be retarded" meme. He really is the pants-shitter trying to laugh at people pointing out that he smells like shit. Unreal.

We all look forward to your next desperate-cry-for-attention profile post. Please make it about how you hate women in the FGC and despise a Mike Hollow video for saying not to pathetically attack them. Please.

...no shit? Brian F makes top-tier content. I watch almost everything he puts out. Jesus Christ, you really are so brain-rotted you don't even know what you're lashing out about and are just arguing to argue.

Yeah I'm done. Forget this, man. You've got actual emotional problems so this (and future) interaction won't go anywhere and it's not good for anyone as it shits up the board. I genuinely feel bad for whoever is around you IRL. Once again, get therapy. It could actually help you.
I think it's really fucking funny that you opened your unprompted criticisms of me with, "All he does is insult people and make no arguments REEEEEE"

Only to then just throw insults and make no arguments.

As for the junior psych analysis, you really do think that this forum is real life, huh?

The Sheriff has decreed that you pay a fine of at least 24 hours of going outside and touching grass.

Yee-haw!

Because he's a scamming scumbag that preyed on this community.
As far as i know, he took donation money some of which was to go to a tournament, he didnt make it to the tournament becasue of a confusion witha a ride or something like that, he then refunded the donation money.

It was messed up he tried to fake that uber ticket, to try and prove he was there at the place he was supposed to meet his ride or whatever, the details escape me but the bottom line is he took donations didnt make to the tournament and refunded the money.

But its not like he wasnt hated on before that.Watching the tournaments and pro events from mk9 to inj2, the hate for tom has been a pretty constant variable throught.

Dude was caught on stream by Sonic Fox photoshopping Uber receipts. Fuck that guy.

And even before that, Tom mostly thrived off being toxic and mongering him some drama.

Is it a surprise that he's burned so many bridges within the scene?

He won't travel to EVO, but he WILL tweet about how, "No noise was made" during an MK1 Top 8 he wasn't there for.

Then there was the screaming at his kid on stream cause he lost a tournament match on MKX, constantly "quitting" MKX and un-installing/re-installing and making a big scene of doing so, and just in general doing anything and everything he can to cultivate negative attention toward himself.

Dude is a douchebag.

Not like me tho. I am as pure as the driven snow.

I remember watching that live, he definetly didnt need that but imo aside that he gets alot of unjustifyed hate and has before that event.

I dont wont get involved in the personal relations between him and other community members/pro players who hate him or had a falling out with him.

Im just saying in general, i think you cant deny he has and gets hate just because he is tom brady, even when there is no reason for it.

Oh, yeah, definitely. I'm sure he does have haters that hate him just cause.

However we can acknowledge that he's contributed to his own bad reputation, no?

Anyway, to the topic of the thread, winning people back is going to continue to be an uphill struggle for NRS especially if they don't make good on the promised long-term support. We're still waiting on any kind of post Khaos Reigns content support. I don't find it personally plausible but it's not impossible.
Speaking of long-term support., I feel like my thoughts on that have shifted over the years.

Perhaps it's because I'm elderly now or maybe my gaming priorities have changed, but I think today I would prefer a complete game on release without much in the way of season passes, even if that means the finished product is smaller. What made this come to mind, other than your post, was a recent invitation from my brothers to play some For Honor the other day. I thought to myself, "man, For Honor was fun, but when are they going to make a new one?" I looked it up, and the devs said that they want For Honor to last for 10 years. Even though there's a lot of new content and stuff, I don't really want to play this 9 year old game, and would legitimately be excited for a sequel or spiritual successor.

Again, perhaps it's because I'm old now, but I really don't want to play the same Mortal Kombat game for 10 years either. Now, obviously that's different than a scenario where NRS makes a game so good that I WANT to play it for 10 years, regardless of later iterations. Personally, especially since my focus on single-player games has increased, I'd rather a game come out with maybe a season of DLC and QOL/balance patches, then end so the devs can work on something new.

MK1 came out two years ago, it had some DLC, had lots of balance adjustments, and some fun was had with it. Instead of NRS saying they've got three more seasons of DLC characters to be released over the course of the next 3 years, I think I'd prefer they announce that the game is finished with KR, and we can look forward to the next iteration within a couple of years. Now, in the case of MK1, promises were made and should be kept; however, when it comes to future iterations, I just hope that after MK2 comes out, I don't have to wait until 2040 or 2050 to play MK3.

So you agree he has done plenty to earn his reputation, and you still question why I question why people have weird parasocial relationships with the guy and feel the need to come out of the wood-work to defend him whenever someone disagrees with him?

I couldn't care less about him, I just cringe whenever I see people jump to his defense. He's not your friend, at the very best he's the funny ice clone man from the days of yore.

Disagree is a very tame word to describe whats going on lol, youd think tom is a mass murdere or a child molestor the way some people talk about and treat him hahah.

You are questioning how anyone can not hate his guts out, again as if the dudes the greatest evil that walked the earth lol.

People treated him basically the same pre and post donation situation, they were just waiting for him to fuck up in some way to justify their hate. And even that situation is not talked about truthfully and used only to garner more hate.

Dont even mention the screaming baby thing as thats so blown out of proportions it perfectly describes the desperation his haters have to paint him in a bad light.

and its this attitude and ppl like Vulgar that are part of the problem. FightingGM and I will speak about this on Mike Hollows podcast...

BTW... more "shadows"

Brother you did not just mention FightingGM as a pillar of authority

Also as far as Tom scamming people, y'all gotta let that shit go. It was a mistake, he reacted bad when a bunch of people were going at him, and he refunded people/started doing that before it really blew up. No one affected carries a sword on that one anymore.

Now dude doing vids with Hollow who willingly makes vids with homophobes/transphobes like Clayton Champan and a admitted Nazi in Arturo, that's something worth grilling him about.

I'm not questioning how anyone couldn't hate his guts. I'm questioning and judging people who borderline simp and salivate for a chance to jump to his defense at literally the smallest disagreement. Vulgar does nothing to garner grace from other posters so its not super surprising, but its funny when Tom calls them out personally, Vulgar fires back, then people dog pile Vulgar for being mean to Tom lmao. Why does anyone care?

I'm basically repeating things I've said in the prior to messages, but Tom fans seem to be burdened with a doozy of a victim complex and project what they want onto a reply, so third time's the charm. I'm not judging Tom, I'm judging you.

What was annoying about this micro discourse of Tom's, is that it undercuts his own observations. As he's said in many videos, tournaments are attended by a ton of FGC Casuals who participate for the sheer joy of it. Arslan Ash plays 15 hours a day because it's his job but thats just him. As Tom himself has observed, the fighting game community is made up of hobbyists. And he was also correct to point out how MK1 has abysmal attendance because there is low enthusiasm. Something went obviously wrong with MK1. But this new tangent about how these events are there to sell you a dream is coming from out of nowhere. Maybe it would have been more relevant 10-13 years ago when the "esports" bubble was growing

anyways id still watch his other videos but this tangent is woof

Nope i don't think so.
You probably noticed, every time M2dave asked whoever wants to be part of their streams and talk about the issues of MK1 in general, i always applied, even though dave said yes, for some reason, the stream never happened, that's because when i apply to the streams tom refuses to do them.

And then a few weeks later he does the stream with Dave anyway

I tried 3 times, and 3 times the same stuff happened, this last one had me thinking it was kind of a dick move, and i could at least get some explanation on why, but... no one said anything and they proceed to do the stream without at least explaining why wasn't i called or at least said "look man, we can't do the stream with you because this and that..."
I would understand, but the fact that they kept silence says a lot about personality.

So i don't think Tom gets hate because he is Tom, he may not realise this but it's stuff like this that says a lot about who you are, not that i hate Tom, but i'm a bit disappointed considering the respect i have for him and even agree to many of his points, so its possible that who knows Tom for years might have to deal with this over and over and just say "that's enough" at one point.
