Anyway, to the topic of the thread, winning people back is going to continue to be an uphill struggle for NRS especially if they don't make good on the promised long-term support. We're still waiting on any kind of post Khaos Reigns content support. I don't find it personally plausible but it's not impossible.

The big thing is that WB has stated they they want to focus on MK as their primary video game franchise. That's actually good if WB makes good on that and realizes they have a game out right now that needs more support so that future releases have legs. This is basically what Capcom did with SF5 when that game had its awful launch (even more so than MK1's). They kept with the game and kept investing into it while seeking avenues to maintain incoming revenue. That's a tightrope and, of course, we have no idea strictly how well it went. One thing to consider is that Capcom had revenue coming in from other major games that were doing very well so burning some money on SF5 to set-up SF6 for a good life-cycle instead of undercutting faith in the SF namebrand was a potential sound investment especially as they knew SF6 was definitely going to happen.

We know another MK is definitely going to happen...so WB is in a similar situation EXCEPT for the fact that they have not had other big profit games surrounding MK. On the contrary, a bunch of their games have been eating shit. WB has actually been eating shit from every angle because they're just...amazingly poorly run as a company at almost every level. It's actually crazy how much they've been losing. That means they might either judge further investment (of money they don't really have) as unwise and not worth it, banking on the MK brand to just be resilient enough that a future release will still sell even if some customers feel burnt with the current product...OR they are so incompetent that this risk-benefit analysis doesn't even meaningfully occur to them. Normally I'd say the latter isn't really possible with a company that big but...c'mon...this is WB we're talking about and their leadership seems to be about as smart as a rock garden from everything we've seen...

Stuff like Floyd helps with 'feel good' stuff but it's very fleeting. It reminds people of when that stuff would just be in the game and it's fun for sure...but the lasting impact is pretty minor and it doesn't really attract new players into the game at all. It's not a bad thing, it's just not the oomph needed to turn around general feel towards the game. It's not meaningful content like that. It's not bang-for-the-buck. It's also been surrounded by some other dumb stuff like Warrior Shrine and on-going issues with less-than-acceptable online...but there was the replay stuff so that's good too. In fact, stuff like that is actually a good way to go to show value and turn around customer feelings about the product.

Is the juice worth the squeeze though? Oof. Hard to say. Probably maybe? Word of mouth is very VERY strong and it definitely helped SF6 that core SF fanbase was able to say that SF5 was supported very well throughout its life and had a big turn around. The No Man's Sky effect (obviously not a 1 to 1 comparison but close enough). The only thing that has to be weighed against is if that word of mouth from a smaller core fanbase that will stick with the game through its lifespan is enough to overcome however many casuals were turned off by the initial product offering and won't come back regardless of that aforementioned word of mouth. That's marketing level stuff I'm not familiar with actually measuring so I have no idea. I would hope it'd be enough? The FGC has a VERY strong core audience, generally speaking, and that does go pretty far.

I think transparency and some kind of roadmap would DEFINITELY help. That'd be one of the first things I'd do and get in front of the community if I was in charge of all of this.

Dizzy used to be a Johnny Cage Player, and a really good one, today he is a Q.A at NRS and has been learning game development on the side to further his goals (Soon to be developer) on the franchise he loves.
Eric Tiberius Tran, started here as a player, was also a comic book artist and worked for NRS as a concept artist for Injustice 2 and MK11. He is now employed as a concept artist at Tripwire studios, bro is living the dream, and yes we still keep in touch till this day.

Kohei Ikeda "Nakatsu" went from being a tekken player from a tekken developer for tekken 8 being now the third pillar along Harada "game director" Katsuhiro, Michael "Game Producer" Murray.


I know the number is niche, but the path to success at videos games doesn't just need to be from playing and earning, become a pro player and being invited to big events with big cash, i think this is the dificult one, but if you're really good at it, there are other ways to be successful at, Tom, REO, PL, Check at some point worked for NRS, but they don't anymore.

But i would still advise to get a job that gives you a wage daily/weekly/Monthly rather than betting on competition to get money, i know for a fact that Skar used to be a really good player and really good at the characters he played, one of the best to rival sonic fox at his prime, and today he has a work schedule and barely has any time to play.
