No serious people are trying to make their entire livelihoods off of fighting game tournaments.

Every time this comes up, the vast, VAST majority of voices in the FGC say that trying to do so is a fool's dream.

It's been a dry content season, and you need drama to keep the engagement going. I get it.

16 Bit retired from competition and went on to work at NRS and while you may or may not like her personally or disagree with balancing choices or whatever, she's doing what she loves and not being toxic to the scene(unless you count posting cat pictures as toxic).

Pig of the Hut retired and mostly disappeared from the public scene and went on to live his life and - apparently - win Emmy's?

You could have gone any of these routes.

Yeah I do not get the mods stance on "nah this is normal". Like in middle school maybe? It's their call, and I don't think a ban is appropriate either(although I muted them a long time ago so maybe that's changed), but the shit I've seen just be handwaved sure as fuck wouldn't have flown basically anywhere else I've been a part of. It's just disruptive noise with no room for discussion. I feel like the only main reason it's allowed is because people keep fucking engaging with it.

I agree completely. I think the content that Mike produces is very cringe and uninteresting.

If Tom made more gameplay related content or talked about tournament results, or something that would at least promote discussion about the game beyond a surface level, I wouldn't be nearly as critical.
