My 2 cents about THAT last tourney, there were NO real strats, NO corner traps, no reflexes, NO damaging punishers, hell even NO bread n butter combos! All I saw were random jumps (with no real purpose) after a run in and in the entire finals between Shock and joe, only were 3 run jabs by Joe and the Kabal Match. All feel like Shock were "letting" the kids play and feel well but after this came in:

Rsigley (kano) vs Shock (Nw). RZP was watchin the whole fight sit by my side, while watching he asked me "while Rob tried those failed combos with Nw? I mean he tried standard combo axe x 2, aaHp x 2 then fail. Later he tries the same but tries aaHp 3rd Axe and fails again!! Why he tries hard combos if he seem not to handle the game well?? Also Kano Hk him like crazy with no punish from Nw???"....

Then I replyed him: "RZP, actually the Nw player was Shock............"...

This was his face: :shock: then he ol: ol: ol:

he felt dissapointed totally.

Because everyone makes mistakes, especially with characters they don't play all the time. There are some players who use a couple characters all the time, do their combos perfectly 99% of the time, but for example, I rarely use Nightwolf, and I can still beat 99% of players with him even making occassional mistakes. However, I'll be sure to put my Mr. Perfect singlet on whenever I get to play you guys. It's obvious RZP has only watched a handful of my matches by the way, he also considers me an "medium" player which is far from accurate. I know Nightwolf is an extremely popular character for you guys. So you might ask, "Why random select and post videos of bad matches?" My answer is, "Because I can use everyone and I was having fun and more people appreciate them then not."

So more money = mk god? Lets NOT turn this in another Venezuela vs USA who is better thread. Just LIVE with it and go on. General US level in UMK3 right now is LOW and if you want to make them better you have to play with ALL you got to encourage ppl to play even more and more. Take all I said as a critic to get better instead of gettin pissed.

EDIT: Shock that match at 00:47... does that guy knows what buttons he has to press? He isnt aware of the RUN button I think... Or does he know that he HAS to hold Blk when getting up? If that is considered a match........ well.... :?: :?:

Man I'm so over this hyped up competitive shit these days. Great, the matches kinda sucked, big woop. I'm not gonna sugar coat anything, they were infact weak, you cant deny it watch the fuckin video!

The real factor is, there are like 50 people AT THE ABSOLUTE MOST that play this game hardcore across the entire USA that would be worth playing in a tournament. I can name a bunch but I'm not gonna, and 1/2 of them wont play on a cabinet... which I will add is a lame ass excuse, if your the best you dont have excuses for ANY platform, you learn and make due on whatever you gotta play on, PERIOD!

That said, the game isnt super duper highly competitive. No one fuckin played this game for years minus the few on on Kaillera, MKK, and some of you Chicago dudes. Now, its on xbox and that is where this website got 90% of its members as of lately. The fact is, the game is dieing, and its on its way out now with big headline games on xbox. UMK3 on there is fuckin dead as shit minus a few people. No more good comp on there.

This brings me to my point. The players you saw in that tournament that werent the masters we want to see, dont own a machine like RZP, Hanzo, or whoever the fuck else. They also dont give that much of a shit about the damn game... they play it for fun. I'll tell you this, if all these people played UMK3 for the last 10 years like some of you guys (and also to those guys, you need to get a fuckin life for real, there is more than UMK3 out there in the last 10 years) they would be fuckin awesome. You wouldnt see 1/2 combos, you wouldnt see crappy punishers, you wouldnt see average gameplay!!!!!!

I'm done ranting. Fucking shit man this game is like not serious at all, no reason to play it unless you like it for the game it is. Fuck competitions, fuck traveling to play it, fuck it! There is no big money in it like SF2/3 or whatever, there is no HUGE following like there is for SF2/3, there is no big ass fuckin tournaments sponsored with people being flown in and all around the country to compete!

I had to get that off my chest. These are some of my personal reasons why I wont be at NEC this year, basically I dont give a fuck and traveling 4+ hours to play UMK3 really aint worth it. I could do something better with my time over that day or 2. I wish I could have played at ECC12 being its an hour drive, maybe 1.5 hours... and I could have given people a good showing on that cabinet, but alas I had personal reasons.

Thats not what this is all about though. This post is about you all............ The ones that are taking this game way to fuckin seriously. Shit is over man, its dieing out again. Thank Xbox for breathing life back into it, but its dying out again and it isnt gonna come back stronger thats for sure. Maybe in another few years when everyone has time off and everyone comes back again when another major technology makes it available to the public (like Xbox live did) it will be huge again. And at that time EVERYONE ON THIS FORUM will be ready. But till then guys, just take it easy and enjoy the damn game for what it is. Play to have fun and make friends, thats what this shit was always about back in the day in arcades and its what it should remain as.

The point is, Hanzo, you guys consistently point out the most microscopic mistakes and errors in gameplay (of anyone you see) and then just say you're better, and can beat anyone in the US. In all seriousness, you guys make mistakes as well, and no one goes out of their way to insult your videos. However, you don't realize that half the guys in this last tournament play but once every few months, some just play because they like entering tournaments. It's not like you have no way to tell because you must recognize the names, and see they post here on a very rare basis. There are only 2 or 3 guys in all of South America worth talking about in UMK3 and don't bring up all these hidden players we don't know about because you two are the only ones who try and bring your presence beyond your country. There are probably only 1/10 the total players in South America compared to US.

I don't post match videos of other players for criticism, you don't have to tell anyone in these videos what they are doing wrong. The idea of posting tournament videos is to get people want to come out, to see that something is going on. If I posted the videos and said "These videos are AWESOME check out the great action US is the best" or something like that, I could understand, but I didn't. I said "Here are the vids, enjoy." If you and RZP didn't enjoy them, that doesn't bother me. There are a number of other players on this site who feel they could do better than what they saw, but they aren't showing up and probably never will. The majority however, just appreciate seeing footage of people playing one on one with no internet between them.

So in a nutshell, I should just cancel NEC8 because there's no point in holding US tournaments anymore and my effort over the last 6 years has been a total waste. While I'm at it, why don't I just shut down UMK and have the url point to MKK? Venezuela clearly has the monopoly on competitive play and from now on I will only play and record 20 to 30 matches straight against a single good player and post the 5 best matches from our set or examples of a single big combo being attempted several times in one match until it is achieved.

In reality, there are as many notable players in Venezuela as there are in the tri-state area here, NY, PA, NJ. The area is coincidentally about the same size and population of 26 million combined if you only count NY City so it's no surprise as many unique players would come out of that count. If I could gather all the best players from every area of the US, no one would be disappointed and there would be a full tournament where every match is good. There are at least 32 great players I can think whom I know personally that would make for a great tournament just on the east coast US let alone the entire country but the problem is so many people are content with playing online, in an incomplete environment, they would rather stay home than make a trip out, even if it's a couple hours away. I can understand people from Cali, or Florida not coming out regularly because there's not a lot of money for the winners, but once a year if you're over 20 isn't impossible. If UMK3 was at EVO World, I'd be there, and that's 2,500 miles away.

No one ever said this. In fact, as you could see, I ve contribuited with the umk site in more than a way. 90% of the text you re reading on the mk4 guides was written by me with Ded_ making small fixes, adding some stuff and all the combo vid examples and combo text. So, I DONT HATE UMK.com. That would be silly to even think. In fact, the more ppl get to compete the better!

Dont understand the point of this. Whenever I post a set of vids you can clearly see by the battle counter that we never skip a battle and if it seems so its cause we reset the machine or go into the test mode or something. And if it looks to you that I try a combo several times to get it you are wrong. I simply have good execution thats all. And sorry for the cockyness but its true.

Thats my goal here and that should be your goal there. Promoting REALLY what is the competitive MK scene. Not only UMK3 but all mk scene (if any).

Dont forget the controller. I suck donkey balls at MK on any kind of pad. Maybe I'm old school, maybe I'm full of it. But I do know I'm better on a stick.

My other problem is that when I learned how to play MK3/UMK3, it wasnt as advanced as it is now. All these combos vids, strategies, punishers, aaHP are all new to me. As in May/June 2007 new. I'm adapting, but its hard. Embarassing too. Dont get me wrong, I am not a noob by far, I've won my fair share of matches as well as losing too.

Man I Can't believe this thread exploded into what it is now. It really is disappointing that ppl sit back and criticize other ppl who love the game just as much as they do.

So what we don't play year round or all the time...we still show up. Sometimes traveling big distances. A majority of us players who LEARNED on a cabinet do not OWN an arcade stick or an arcade cabinet so how do we get back to being where we were in 95?.

I will admit to one thing...my style has always been simple. If you rush me and i see an opening I will just simply crouch and low kick you. It may be simple but it work's for me. I dunno who said that shock was the only one worth anything.....did you happen to watch the video where he came back from a mercy that I gave him?, my mistake sure, but I could have won that match. It's possible for any player to beat ANYONE at ANY time.

SUGAR don't mention my name in some fucking "MK 101" post. I have played you online and I have beat you. What the fuck makes you think you can teach anyone...anything. Everyone is human and if you think you are some combo machine it will just make it easier for me to win when you fuck up.

It is easy to say stuff and or talk crap when you are not there, you may all be better than anyone who played but show up then talk

I respect you as a player and as a good contributer for all MK FAMILY and what i was trying to say i just that when i see i love to give my opinion about it... and my opinion there in USA (i guess) it´s taking as a critizism (i see that) and it´s not what im trying to show/say... all what i want is just give my point of view of all matches (ALL FUCKING MATCHES) if someone felt hurted... don´t say "what he think? that he´s invensible?" and it´s not that, is just telling all what i have inside (to tell xD) is the same what i love to say on Colombian´s Forums and even (my fav good fighters of Mk´s Countr) Chile, there all are awesome ( i love to someday fight them, hopefully someday)

It´s not about if im perfect or you´re perfect... i play TMNT too and the Team Spooky told me some things that i took and now im playing better on this game, the gave their opinion about our Matches in Shoryuken.com and now im getting better (remember that you sometimes can´t see your mistakes, the only one that know that is who´s behind you or by your side telling your mistakes).

All peoples are always talking about "empty pockets" and all that.. the only reason why that i can´t trip to USA to play UMK3 and talk about anything (another thing to say is that remember that we can´t see trough the text the Mental condition(state)is that it´s really hard for us (venezuelans) to trip there because our president (he´s a totally asshole) and for some reason is really hard to get a visa and to get dollars but it´s more easy for a american to come here and get Bolivares and all that stuff...i hope someday someone pay me all to trip there xD... im not rich but i could fly to there but the only reason why is what i told you (get a visa and get dollars) i really respect all the USA players even Scheisse putta xD and putlex who is my wife! but please don´t said that we just hate you or something... is not about that... i saw the matches and yes... it sucks and just because i have a another point of view everybody have to hate me? sometimes i play bad too and some peoples always tell me that :S
