Sup gang? Joker main here but ive been using CC as a back pocket character but that might change..been having a lot of fun with him just having trouble opening ppl up/dealing with pressure (also inputs etc)

Please welcome me with open and hopefully slightly chilly arms...

wow just played a green arrow and Harley quinn match up..

Im stumped on what to do against arrow...low arrow show seems to really mess up zoning and pressure/jump heavy characters seem to give him a hard time..not sure what to do against characters who just press buttons etc...

Also what string do you guys normally use to get started with? I tend to try to start with 133 but people low profile that and 213...

Is it best to do f2/233 or?

I always start with F23, D1 then once they start respecting that i go for 122 or 133

Usually start off with F23 staggers. 122 is only good if you space it so the 1 will miss. Same for 213, missing 2 makes the string useful when you're walking back. If you end a combo standing with bf1, 213 will give you space if they block the follow up. I haven't had to deal with an arrow yet

In the beginning of the match I always start with the Wall to prevent them from comboing on me. I start the combos with F23xxMB BF (Big Freeze - DB3). The MB BF, also, works as an ice trap. With the right tech, this Ice Trap is a deadly weapon for punishing the characters, while forcing them to stop using half of their special moves.

Think of Captain Cold as a defensive character. Unlike the rest, he has defensive stuff to show out. He's quite similar to UB Sub.

Another question: should i not be playing him as a zoner? I tend to a bit and only start doing strings etc when ppl start to get close and or get passed death chicle obstacles....am i kind of playing him wrong or?

I play him as a zoner/spacer. I also think his icicle zoning is downplayed. He can drop one right after the first. I usually put the 1st where my opponent is and I drop the second icicle where I think they'll go to avoid the first. It can be pretty overwhelming if you're making the right reads cause if they block any, you're still plus from full screen and you can "trap" then between two falling icicles. He has decent rush down.

For the record i can NOT doing anything against ppl pressing buttons in this game....its usually low profile, d1 it interrupt then d2 or something like that...ive also seen some characters literally special through the wall as a meaty....

When people press buttons, I just d1 into wall. But I understand your struggle, I feel as if CC struggles against mashers or maybe it's just us.

Man catwomen and super girl online...is this real life...? lol damn those match ups...super girl has range, lasers, online tele....come one

And catwomens jump whip goes THROUGH db2 wall...

He's a unique zoner. His ice powers only slow and destroy the opponent, and then after 3 secs they freeze him. His snowstorm dome (F4 - lvl 2 trait) slows down the juggle, so use it at the corner or in any middle combos. Use them between the iceshots (BF1) and the icicles (DF2). You can use the MB Wall to kick them away from you (useful against the CQC dudes and some of the zoners).

Considering he's really meter reliant I think you almost have to zone at least a little bit to try and build some meter. Plus all it takes is one icicle trade or read and you can charge your trait a bit.

Only problem is some characters will shut his zoning down hard and you pretty much have to go in (Ivy for example). It all depends on the MU.

Ah ok, been having trouble in the neutral..f2 doesn't seem like its cutting it...still not sure what string to open ppl up with really..

I have a habit of trying 122 and then trying f2 and someone just hitting buttons etc...but yep correct people shut down his zoning a bit hard sometimes...hard to get stuff started

you want to play heavy keep out against rushdown characters with cold. Frustrate them with your traps and bait them with trait taps and force them into a mistake. Sounds like you are doing it right to me. Basically any character that can keep cold from using his tools completely shut down his game IMO and there are a ton of chars in this game that do that. IMO Cold is an awesome char, but just in the wrong game.

Sorry, but this phrase seems a bit contradictory there. What's not certainly canceable into it? The D1? AFAK, D3 is certainly not canceable into anything. :S

I was making fun of your spelling. D1 is not cancellable into BF.
Are you sure it's not cancellable into BF? For me it's similar to Sub's D4xxIK, so it's fine. ;)

If it wasn't cancellable, I wouldn't add it anywhere near the battle. It's cancellable, but its frames are way late to cancel it earlier. ;)
