Are you going to take MK11 seriously/competitively?

Are you wanting to be competitive in MK11?

Wouldnt be surprised to see some old faces emerge from the shadows to catch wreck in this game. It happens every time a new MK is released and is tradition.

I am not sure it's even possible for people that have full time jobs and social obligations to get competitief in any game. Maybe if you are extremely talented and spend most of your free time on a single game but for most it's not feasible. I just play casually to relax after a long day's work and MK11 wont be the only game i will be playing either. There are plenty of single player games i plan on picking up this year.

Take it seriously, yes.
Become competitive, no.

Meaning that I'm going to try and "git gud" with a character or two this time around, most likely Jade. But I have no intention on signing up for any tournaments or anything like that.
^This is exactly what I'm going to be doing, which is exactly what I did in Mortal Kombat XL. I'm looking to learn and enjoy the mechanics and be my own personal best, but I'll mostly be playing with friends, random matches online, and against the AI.

With the officially revealed roster, that will probably be Jade and Scorpion, but my mains the last two games have been Mileena and Kitana, and I would be surprised if Kitana is unplayable.

Any serious players in Denver or mountain towns of Colorado?

I’d like to play some local sets.

I’m traveling to EVO this year. Might try and make another event or 2.

I entered a couple weeks of War of the Gods and did ok (by my standards). I beat sooneo in a single game (he switched to arrow and mopped me) but beat 2-3 other people first.

If the full release game is as awesome or better than the stress test, I'm going all in because the joy I get from this game is organic/natural.

I traveled for MK9, Injustice 2, MKX, but the best I ever was was during the Injustice 1 era when I focused almost exclusively on Hawkgirl and was a major specialist. I'm hoping to be at that level of cerebral play again to where I can be a threat to bigger names again.

Additionally, I have international travel commitments for this year so I'm gonna be trying to grind hard to stack up my skill to travel in 2020 as I always make it a goal to travel to a different regional/major every game maybe I'll be aiming for EVO this time.

Also gonna be collaborating as much as I can with other competent players to help everyone level up. It's going to be a fun ride :).

Fujin and Ermac for MK 11
I plan on competing online and in locals close to me. Should be fun since I stopped playing MK X after the first few months and I2 didn't really take seriously outside of the customizations, missions.

I am going to take learning the game and matchups seriously, but I am no pro level talent. Along with that I work full time, and when I am not working, often times my personal life digs into my playing time.

I have been watching MK tournaments religiously since MK9, and keep up with them and the who's who both online and offline.

Good luck to everyone competing out there in MK11. I am sure the experience is rewarding whether you win or lose.

If the game plays more like MK9 and is as much fun, I'll do my best to learn and deal with things, but probably won't do more than play online. My focus in life is getting the hell out of this shithole state before next winter.

Well, based on your description I guess no because I don't attend tourneys offline or online, but at the same time I do plan on trying to be the best player I can be and playing a lot online against other people so I guess a yes in that sense.

If you believe enough, -7 could be +7
I plan on it. I like what I’m seeing and loved what I played in the beta. Hopefully the offline scene in my area will be playing it as well

Bomb Setups & Ball Rolls(Mileena/Cyrax)
I'm going to test my limits and learn the game inside out. Learn what I can from better players than I and hopefully improve and adapt to the changes in 11. Gonna try the online and locals in my area again and see where I fall and hope for the best.
Let's see what obstacles arize and pull through.

I don’t have time to play competitively, but I have a lot of passion to play it seriously.

I really didn’t expect so many responses! This is very interesting to me, love seeing what you all have planned for MK11. It will also be cool to come back to these to see if anyone who is wanting to compete has been successful in their efforts.

I’m also glad there’s a lot of people that are just going to enjoy MK11. Meaning playing it casually. That’s what it’s all about, playing and having fun! Fighting games!!!

Real life is the main limiter. I'd like to at least be able to play online seriously even though I doubt i'll have time to ever show up to an in person tournament. That said I've voiced my concerns about the defensive mechanics and won't waste my time if devolves into overly defensive/get punished for hitting them style play.

I WILL EAT THIS GAME
Real talk: this is the first time ever in life I'll be picking up a game while being even close to having my shit together. Injustice 2 came out after my world imploded and all my passion was gone, I was fucked up in some way or another for all of MKX, Injustice 1 came out the summer my engagement of five years ended, and I had about a potato's idea of what I was doing for most of MK9. Now my head is clear (ish), my future is promising, AND I can comprehend frame data now.
So yeah...this one is a real, rrreeeaaalll big deal to me. I'm putting out feelers to all the New York OG's and getting some positive feedback back, getting my brothers and their circles of gamer pals involved to broaden the horizons even further, and will continue to be the most informative and delusional future President of the United States of TYM ever to declare his candidacy.

I'm gonna try to attend my local and get better but my area is pretty light and most offline tourney's I'd have to travel to, I may play in some online tourney's though.

Yup. I’m not doing tourneys or anything but I will take online seriously for the first time. I’m usually all about the local and SP content but I loved the stress test and I can’t wait to learn the fully fleshed out Shao and Shang variations. I will be better than average with these 2 characters and I won’t stop playing until I am.

I can't be dedicated enough with a single game to become tournament proficient, so not in that sense. But I will try my best online, especially since this time the netcode is good enough for me to stick around (I dropped MKX after the first few months).

nahh i just turn 40 years old, im old for video games anyway, I just will enjoy mk11
I guess this is my last hurrah then. Lol. I'm turning 38 this year, and though I have no illusions that I'll win Evo or anything, I still want to travel, have fun, and be in the thick of things.
Pft Sako is older than you guys and he had his best year ever in SF last year winning tons of majors. Age is an excuse for the weak who don't wanna try. I am 35 and the best I have ever been and gonna get better still
