Question The Buffs Bane Needs?

Well, we got their attention, but I did some thinking...

A patch takes over 1 month to move on to the networks for downloading. Assuming that the patch deadline is exactly 1 month before evo, it would require June 11 be the latest release date of the patch. That means NRS has to have had the patch ALREADY DONE as of today... and if they are LUCKY they will get it in on time for Evo.

The exception to this is if they do the patch by June 11, but they do a direct update (similar to MK9 quick fixes) for the remaining patches. Although that would allow them to fix Bane in time based on the suggestions of this thread, it is a lot of WHAT IFs. I'm glad Bane will EVENTUALLY be fixed by NRS if they read this thread, but I think the timing won't be good enough for Bane players of Evo 2013, which is the exact same problem Sheeva had throughout MK history. I know... I'm boring you all with a history lesson.

Anyways, back on topic, I'm saddened everyone wants a cancel for the charge. I want it to stuff backdashers, meaning faster start-up and/or movement speed. I don't care about the cancel, because who cares if I cancel in front of an opponent when I'm as slow as bane is. Even with Venom armor, the opponent has enough time to do a 2 hit string. Also sad that only 1 person shares my opinion that Level 2 Venom is too weak.

D_Matt_Ma A cancel would save you when they successfully avoid a charge, keep that in mind. Having a cancel with inputs right into strings like Grundy would also make it very ambiguous with smart timing. Charge kind of sucks in general and I think needs a speed boost overall, I guess it's just a matter of deciding what's needed more.

I've done a little thinking, and i believe making back 3 for bane a little safer on block or a little faster, hopefully the later, would be a pretty good improvement because right now i'm only using back 3 as a cancel because it's too slow to use in combos unfortunately

This is why I want the Charge to be faster. I think Charge should take the place of what you are looking for in a faster Back 3. And unlike Grundy's 3 hits of armor, Bane will have 1, which makes the cancel more of a "I messed up" tactic rather than one I used pro-actively.

And he's STILL able to put up a fight against a number of the cast. All Bane needs is a bit more love and I believe he can take a major. (Crazy talk, I know.)
Ehh the top 5 in this game are absurd, bane would need a whole lot of love, charge cancels, more damage on normal combos, less punishment after use of venom- then yeah I could see him competing with the top members of the cast.

Why not make charge like f.2 and make it dash cancelable and chargable?
We basically get something to the tone of the f.2 parry at all venom levels, grab immune, and we can bait out jumps while making our way in.

You brought up some good points. Honestly my fav is talking about that air grab. It's slow & feels like it's priority is weak. I've played Doomsday just messing around with friends and his is vastly superior for speed and priority, they have the same purpose, oh and his can be MB'ed.

Ours has a lot more range though. And we get more advantage for the most part, especially in the corner.

Sure in the out and up direction only. It does nothing once someone is past your hand yet literally right above you still, like doing it on reaction to everyone trying to jump over you. Which for me is almost everyone I play. The corner thing is true, love using it there.

If you are worried about cross-ups, learn to use your standing 2. Unless they are completely behind you, it'll stop them from doing it for the most part. Works exceptionally well against people dependant on late cross-ups, and honestly most every other character you can usually just venom upper for the armored hits. Only exception is flash with his triple kick, he can stuff out the armor as fast as it comes out.

Bane has to change somewhat in order to remain competitive. If you guys have a twitter, look them up @injusticegame and @noobde

It would be great if our voice was loud enough as a Bane community to show that the character has a lot of support.

Haven't tried the standing 2, will attempt. Yeah late cross ups is about 85% of the people i end up playing main strat :rolleyes: I started using venom upper a while ago, much better except with that lag at times grrrr. Standing 2's hitbox reaches about to the back of Bane's head/shoulder area. If you use it properly it stops jump-ins as long as they aren't just flopping in like a doomsday. Afterwards you can chain into 123 venom upper/body press or, if you know what you are doing, you can use the secret tech. We haven't made a name for it, but its kinda nifty I guess.

No one aside from me, RYX, and -Deadman- really know the dirt. Even then its not really "dirt" in the conventional sense...
But it does give us a much higher reward for a bit lower of a risk. One wrong guess by the opponent from anywhere on the screen ends up scoring us some pretty good damage. I won't get into specifics because I don't have all the details just yet, but once I figure it all out then I can be a bit more open overall. If you really wanna know, ask RYX to let you in on the conversation.

Just don't expect too much, as I said its just a little something simple but it has its effectiveness written in stone just about.

Since I think we've had a good discussion on his special moves, let's talk normals.

Do you feel his normals need to be changed? Which ones? Why?

Currently he suffers from slower normals than most of the cast, with his lows having sub-par reach compared to other characters and his overhead in f.2.down being abysmally slow. I find it far too easy to avoid a lot of his moves in neutral situations thanks to the backdashes.

iMLGzus and I were having a discussion in PMs about the possibility of Venom increasing his speed(via start-up frames). Mostly for a sequel version of Bane but I think if NRS really wanted to it could be put in here to make his frame traps deadlier and giving an honest reason for him to slow down during recovery.

My thoughts are that, for the duration of Venom, all normals come out faster proportional to the level of Venom used. Coupled with the damage boost and any other hypothetical buffs Bane recieves, it would make his up close game worthy of a monster like himself. To offset the increases in speed, a SLIGHT speed debuff for a few seconds after venom wears off, then back to normal until you feel the urge to pump that green glowing good stuff back into your veins.
