Teen Titans cartoon was very well loved and its fans all really liked Raven. Get used to the fact that not all fans of a character are fans of the comic book portrayal of them even if its the original and official canon. I was never a fan of her before the cartoon, but she was an awesome sarcastic goth girl who was fun in the series. I only started reading TT because of her as I'd kept it off my radar largely for other stuff.
The nice thing is that IGAU has the potential to let ALL the fans of all the versions of a character come together to celebrate their inclusion in this game with the way they are handling alts. Not all Green Arrow fans read his comics these days since many new fans of his are fans of his TV show incarnation. NRS put the actor in the studio, did VA for a model of his show design and put it in the game to celebrate those fans. Heck the VA for GA's regular model sounds like the cartoon series GA so thats a nod to them as well.
Point is any and all fans of any version of the characters in this cast are welcome here. Not a true fan? That doesn't make sense to me. You can like someone without having to be familiar with all their incarnations. Even if they don't get an alt thats "their" favorite version of the character like GA got they still get the satisfaction of experiencing a character their own favorite version was derived from.
Why hate on folks who are enjoying something personal for them? Just smile and feel happy for their victory. Besides...you can always skull bash them with double perfects online later anyway if they irritate you with their posts.
