Anyone else feel that NRS is going to be setting the standard for fighting game content when this game finally drops? MK9 had a ton of single player content that got even bigger with the Vita release. It would not surprise me if this game surpasses that one with all the single player stuff available.
So again, do you think companies like SNKP and Capcom will be taking notes on how to not only cater tot he competitive community, but also give the regular consumer a reason to play past just the arcade ladder portion of the games?
Oh for sure. The content NRS put in their games is well above the standard. I love how they've basically revolutionised the whole arcade ethos of current and past fighting games and just treat it as a normal game, complete with story mode and whole bunch of other offline modes.
This is really good for people who aren't neccesarily hardcore FG players but are happy just playing as characters they think are cool or like and can enjoy the game on basic levels. Games should be fun period - you shouldn't have to go Hardcore (analysing frame data, hit boxes etc - although I admit I personally find all that equally as awesome as friggin ninjas and superheroes beating the snot out of each other!) just to enjoy it and I really like NRS' approach in that respect.
That's not even getting into what NRS have done for the Hardcore crowd either: turning OFF negative edge? MK or SF style motions as an option? In game Frame data?! Almost completely unheard of in any mainstream FG to date...Heck, I'm tempted to buy all the DLC for Injustice in advance just to express my eternal gratitude at those things being included from day 1!
I do hope that Capcom and other companies takes notes and see that it is worth investing some time in making their Fighting Games enjoyable as Games first. And I can't wait to see what NRS will do with their next FG.
