So yeah, still waiting for accurate reasons as to why Kung Lao is specifically top three. All I've gotten so far are defensive responses like "ull never know cuz u didnt play me bro" or "i guess im not that good since u have the nerve to question kl's placement".
The passive aggressive responses are kinda funny though. "I guess the game really has evolved if KL isn't top 5", at least there's some wit here.
The thing about online is, you get to play such a greater number of opponents than you would offline. Offline you're restricted to people that are actually there, which in UMK3's case, isn't very many people. I've played against great Kung Laos, good Kung Laos, decent Kung Laos, average Kung Laos, and shitty Kung Laos. You can say my experience against Kung Lao doesn't count since it's online. If you want to discredit years of experience just because it was online, that's your choice. But I'm sure I made some kind of impression 2 years ago at NEC so that my word and experience count for at least a little bit. And how about
REO? He's been to far more UMK3 tournaments than I have and has placed nearly top 3 in all of them. Let me clarify, has placed top 3 in most of them RECENTLY.
The tone of this thread suggests that the "OG's" are close-minded and won't even entertain the idea that the tier list they knew and used is not accurate anymore. Really the only person able to make some discussion on the subject is

Look, we're not here to say you guys were wrong. For the time, the tier list was accurate. It's different now, it has to be different. If it wasn't, then we would understand why Kung is top 3 and Kano is top 5. But we don't understand, because they no longer are top 3 and top 5.
I think the real problem is that the OG's don't feel it's necessary to take on this discussion. It's pointless to them and we can't change their minds anyway. This will sound disrespectful, but it's not it's intent... but you know what they say, "you can't teach an old dog new tricks".

You don't think Arion playing Jade could rival Arion playing Kitana? Look how their move sets counter each other and she can't be Zoned at all really. Jade is good, man....I put her at #12-#13 above U Sub, Stryker, Scorp and maybe more. She beats all them, man. How else could #13-#18 say she isn't as good as them? Jade and Mileena advance on the Chessboard from whatever Kitana benefits from KJ/GJ, right? No difference among girls. But it matters to the rest of the cast, I'm sure. Any female ninja's GJ/KJ is among the best in the game. I can't even justify placing her below top 15 with anything. Nearly un-zoneable; PI lasts full-screen making her rushdown rival NightWolf nearly, IMO.
