My opinion is this: Should she be banned? Vote for it! If you dont wanna see her played competitively vote to either ban her or not. I couldnt care less,I only play vs friends or KL (or someone I meet there). However,all of this could have been avoided if NRS decided to actually nerf Upgraded Jacqui by making her easily punishable on reckless leaps across the screen(the ones where she does not use meter to cancel),or by making her use meter all the time while making her punishable much easier on some options. Sadly NRS needs gigantic amounts of time to fix stuff like this so situation is really awkward. One thing you gotta understand,Jacqui is breaking fundamentals of MK11,game marketed as footsie-neutral oriented game. She is in dire need of normalization. Those are facts. Facts are that she is beatable as well,so ban is INDEED insane,but then again its up to tournament organizers what they want to do.

Part of the reason I brought it up is because yes, I've been cleaning up those posts for months. This is definitely not a recent thing.

That’s really disappointing. Especially because Jacqui isn’t ratchet or ghetto in the least. Her character isn’t like that at all, if anything she had that military brat vibe. Now Kano on the other hand is the definition of ghetto and ratchet.

That said, Jacqui is a bland as hell character in my eyes, and I just could never play her and I hope this is her last go around. It’s a shame because a black woman is a great addition, but man she’s dry as hell lol.

There's been a bunch of hate for Jacqui since she was introduced in MKX, and some of it stems from racism. Like, I get that she's good, but before this game came out, I was seeing posts from people saying they didn't want to see Jacqui in MK11 for reasons like "because she is ratchet" and "she's just ghetto" etc.

I'm no longer putting up with that nonsense here, but it lets you understand the mentality that is behind the way some people think about fighting games.

Let's not elevate the vocal minority anymore than need be. Were there racist people that didn't want Jacqui in the game for that reason, yes. Is that the main reason people dislike Jacqui, no. Not saying you said it was, but even bringing it up sets a easy to run with precedent that only needs to be parroted by a couple more people to start gaining traction and becoming the new narrative. The last thing I want to see in the future is reductive conversation when anyone says they dislike Jacqui getting called racist and dismissed despite valid criticisms about the character, on some reddit tier nonsense.

She’s not as broke as OHKO MK9 Cyrax or Vanilla Quan Chi but compared to her peers in MK11 she’s far and away the best character post Aftermath. Oppression session the character. 2. There are definitely characters that give her trouble. Try using her normals against Johnny Cage or getting in on good Cetrion's with first round KO. Its not fucking easy. Even with the bounce she can just tele outta there.

As a Jacqui main I can tell you I think she is balanced in a way because of her short range normal attacks and not having a projectile worth at all in two of her variations.
But I can agree there are nerfs that would be justified

Race was one aspect out of several, but the point was that hate for Jacqui has started long before MK11 was released, and long before people know how Upgraded would play. So when she's the only top tier that we're somehow supposed to ban, out of all the ridiculously strong characters we've seen over the last 6+ years, it's not at all surprising.

I referenced specific comments that were made and I'm not applying that logic to 'anyone' or 'everyone' -- but I will point out the hatemongering trends when I see them repeated across multiple situations and games.

(And just on a person-to-person level, I'm also tired of having to moderate these ridiculous comments every time Jacqui is brought up. The reason you don't always see them is that I often have to clean up the mess.)

Been here since 2012, got banned indefinitely for posting a video of a top batman player RQ'ing against my Grundy. The mod said I was shaming and I should have blacked out his gamertag before posting. Lurked for a couple years before creating a new account.

Anyways that's neither here nor there. Shoutouts to @CrimsonShadow for bearing the brunt of load the load in keeping this place clean. I believe he's had the same avatar for damn near a decade now, MK dragon inside a GoW cog. My two favorite franchises. Also shoutouts to @Eldriken, as he also does a lot of the lifting when he's available.

Just to tell you what kinda player I am personally. I play Cassie, Baraka, and Subby mostly.
My primary two being Cass and Baraka. Hell I even got Cass tattooed on my forearm lol.

That being said....Seriously though. Don't ban Jacqui. It has already been repeated here ad nauseam. She is VERY strong. She doesn't play neutral. Her normals are godlike, yes. We've been through worse. Much much worse. I played Jacqui at launch but never really stuck with her. I knew she was strong then and that was well before upgraded ever existed. I don't think she needs to be banned. Period. Not 1st Round KO, not Next Gen, and Certainly not Upgraded. She's tough but she's not impossible. I've been destroyed by many Upgraded players and never once did ban this character ever cross my mind. You adapt and you overcome. If you're not labbing the match up. You're begging to be destroyed. Even if you do lab it you're begging to be destroyed lol but this isn't Rune Trap Quan Chi. This isn't mk9 Kabal or OHK Cyrax... We've seen the NRS track record for Nerf's in the past. They leave that nonsense in but destroyed Sub-Zero in both MK9 and MKX. Upgraded needs to be addressed but it doesn't need to be banned. It also doesn't need to be nerfed into the dumpster like Mk9/X Subby. They've gotten better with balance over time. I feel like the next patch that rolls around will finally address Upgraded properly. We just have to wait for it. Until then. Tekken Master can eat a dick. He's a pro player. We're not jumping into this banning Cascade because where does it stop? We ban everyone that's not MK9 Sheeva? Fuck that.
