Cassie Cage General Discussion Thread

Yes, Cassie is good, but takes you time to get used to. Combos are situational too. So add that & how she plays, you'll have to get a little bit used to her if you're not familiar with her archetype.

Edit: Sorry for the double posts, staff. CPU froze up on me for a sec & somehow split up my message I was going to type.
But what is her archetype. Do you just zone with the gunshots, and what's the use of the flippy special?

She's a footsies character with good zoning tools. The other variation (Yaas Queen) is more for up close fighting but you have to learn how to do 1 frame links for her best damage & corner carry. Flipping out at this point is useless imo. I've yet to find any use for it other than use it as a gimmicky risk.

I hear yea. To me it’s exciting. Went on a 6 win streak today and every game it got more and more intense lol. I did like 3 out of 5 better but what you gonna do.
Yes I agree with that intense feeling I felt the same with 10 streak lol.
Now it is normalized because I played Scorpion as well (just to not forget too much) and I lost games which I would have probably won with Cassie. But who cares.
There were laggy games and 2 disconnects right after the 1st match - it could be win as well - so with that circumstances the win ratio adrenaline does not work on me anymore I think. Which is good as I can play better and focus on the next opponent and not worrying about history. :)

You might be getting better opponents with better stat and rank I just started getting better opponents with 1280 points.

I fought a good Liu and realized that it is not easy for Cassie. I felt a bit outzoned (could trade but Liu had amp) and without too much footsie the up close war which is better for Liu. Hm I need to work on this (especially in the zoning) but there are many Liu Kangs to play with.
Maybe I will try my Scorpion against Liu if the zoning war is too annyoing on "higher" level. So far I felt comfortable with Cassie but got impatient opponents. :)

I think I like Cassie's footsie play more than Scorpion's footsie so the deciding factor might be the counter zoning ability of Scorpion in the future. Both are good but I prefer and feel better now Cassie's.

As long as you can get through lui kangs staggers, It’s ok. I just try to wiff punish him, but when he gets in it’s really a guessing game on if he gonna stagger, finish the string, or cancle into parry or low fireball

I had difficulty with zoning as well but I was never really zoned before.
Low fireball trades with low shot but amp fireball trades better.
Need to trick him somehow but he has the full screen KB flying kick... :)
Watching Sonicfox it was no miracle but trade and someone tries to jump and go closer etc.

I actually think she does better against Jade than Erron. Her low block low profile the f2 high from most range and b3/f2 bypass the push back. With erron he does not have to care about the +4 restand so much as d3 low profile f4 and b2. She also cannot zone him as scudd shot shuts that shit down for free.

Nice expression.
I could say: "not suck as hard against Jade than Erron".. :D

I try to practice against Jade/Erron with Cassie but rather with Scorpion. It is still not easy. :)

Cassie might be able to punish some of Jade's move with F2 (F21 F2xxDB3) but unfortunately not that define the match up but the keep away zoning, etc. But definitely it is doable just need to remain patient which is the purpose of Jade.

As an authority on braindead things myself, I can confirm she's braindead.
She really isn't brain dead, out of all the cast her combos require really tight execution compared to a lot of them. If the opponent sucks then yeah, it's an easy win cause they don't block anything, but maybe you just need to run a long set with a good Cassie.

only in counter zooning, if sonya opens an advantage in life the cassie will have to open the guard
Yep, yesterday in the KL I was frustrating the hell out of a Sonya with my zoning:

Scorpion is number one hated haha.

Even if you play well you will be stated as noob, lucky scrub, free win, etc.
If you lose with Scorpion you will be humiliated.
Every battle can go personal. What a terrible attitude but not surprised. :)

At least Cassie is not hated yet lol.

I really confused about people saying cassie have execution barrier in DS. Most her combo is really basic. No need for tight timing or dash cancel. The only difficulty is the weird s4 timing for max damage.

Hm it looked like she did not find the block button and forward button was locked lol.
Yeah that's nasty but I rather zone against Sonya than eating 50/50.
Sonya would zone hard too against others.

Yeah I didn't want her getting close before she was properly frustrated lmao

The fact he can amp tele on block is just a bad design. The move already have a lot of functionalities.

Cassie is a busted ass character and anyone who disagrees is clearly on some clown shit.

With top 3 best projectiles in the game, amazing staggers, monster in the mid, great mixup options, an overhead Fatal Blow, safe strings & pushback on damn near everything, you mean to tell me all it takes is "blocking"??? And her "downfall" is low combo potential?

I can't wait for this hoe to get nerfed into B tier.

I was just saying she wasn't braindead and you're just listing all her strengths, so let's go through what you said because I love dissecting people's salt with actual truth.

Great mixup options? All of her lows are slow as hell. B1=18 frames startup and if you finish the string it'd punishable on block. F3 19 frames start-up. Everyone blocks low and if you see F4 coming you can block the overhead.

She has amazing staggers yes, one is advancing the other is a 9 frame mid that's 0 on block. This makes her S tier.

Overhead fatal blow that's also slow as hell and all it takes it to block standing cause the chances they'll use it in a combo is slim to none since it's distance based, using it in a combo is pretty hard to do.

Safe strings with pushback?
B243 is not SAFE, 3 is a high and can be ducked and punished
F2 1+3, the F2 is a high and can be ducked and punished
F343, the last 3 has a HUGE gap.
111 is relatively safe (-8 on block) and you can poke after she does it

oh, and her pokes are shit, like literally.

Every heard of whiff punishing? You can catch her with this tactic, like with any other character. Try playing neutral more and labbing her and you'll beat her. Every character has weaknesses, but if you don't take advantage of them, then your opponent will take advantage of their strenghts.
