The 3 Things we need for lao in the next patch

Please fix this character, he's my favorite cannon character ;-;

1.) Fix the 21212 hitboxes to connect with characters crouch blocking for block stun
2.) an overhead option (it would be great if it was off of the 21 string to keep people from trying to duck under :/)

*EDIT for people misunderstanding: Adding an overhead option doesn't automatically create 50/50's or even mix. I suggested an overhead option to replace the two hat throw highs in 21212 (like 2U3 or something) because it's a triple high starter with a glitched hitbox. I would probably just want an overhead HKD spike off of it, just to make opponents not always low block and abuse the hitbox glitch. I'm not a 50/50 warrior, it's just a matter of I want NRS to fix the 21212 hitbox bug, but if they don't, adding an overhead would be nice so everyone doesn't just always crouch block. Not to mention every character in the game has an overhead option except kung lao, which is poor game design in my opinion.

3.) this one is a less necessary one, but if the hitboxes absolutely cannot be fixed Make the orbital hat not cost as much or not cost anything, like in MKX. (I feel like the orbital hat doesn't last nearly as long as it did in MKX and it's a lot of resources for a neutral tool that could whiff)

He NEEDS better strings. I don't think we'll see Kung Lao make it to a truly competitive level for quite some time (if ever.)

I'd be fine if his 21 was high mid mid or jailed after first hit blocked and if his F13 and F21 was safe. I think he would be dope then but as it stands he isn't good against the likes of top tiers.

I know many want an overhead but I feel like he doesn't need it if other strings are just made safe. The 21 being a triple high and the full version 21212 being his only plus on block +1 string is dumb af and poor design. I've herd other say it's a wiff punisher but that makes zero sense it being a plus on block string was clearly designed for pressure. I'm fine with first hit bring high but the next two should either jail on block or be mids. Even when used at max range it pulls opponent in making him easily punished on reaction.

The 21212 would be his main string and opener when it's fixed since you could throw or add more pressure conditioning your opponent to let go of block.
Do he wouldn't really need an overhead since he had low/throw but only after 21 being a mid/jailing on crouch block.

Then I'd ask for his F13 to go from -13 to -8 and his F21 to be safe -6. Then I think Lao would be honest and viable. And will be able to better deal with top tiers. He may need an overhead that knocks down but this was my suggestion to fix him without adding another 50/50 mix-up (OH/Low) into the game.

Yes but if you're low blocking you go under. As if you're neutral ducking, except you're not. Like, if I hit rt and down, two hits whiff completely. The hitboxes are messed up and behave differently than other highs in the game.

Your opponent goes under them like they're neutral ducking just by blocking low
I get so many american resets online out of 21212

people block the first hit then ducking the next 2, letting go of block then eating the rest of the string for full combo lol.

I'm just gonna let it rock though, if people can't even punish scorpion teleport this might as well be a true combo :)

yea but if they d1,d3, or d4 you might get cucked, which sucks

I don't think he needs an overhead. I feel like short hops gives everyone the option for mid games. But I agree with making 2,1 into a high/mid scenario. That way if I jail someone they have to hold that string instead of randomly D2'ing me.

I'd like for f3 to have a bit more range for whiff punishing, maybe the same as f,1 or f2 (or too op?). Also I feel like f2,1,3 is his only viable krushing blow

I'm losing 75% of the time against Kung Lao. What am I doing wrong?
Crouch Blocking too much? His teleport is reactible (I wish it was d2 KB but they saved him by not including it), his only advancing string is punishable (if I’m not wrong), we know that 212 is three high attacks , he depends to much on throws. Maybe I played against weak players but I’ve never lost to one Kung Lao
