How is -6 unsafe?

Again, nobody with half a brain wants Sub to get nerfed into the ground.

Mixups need to be punishable, that's all.

It's only -6 if he does F2 by itself. Which, if you block, he gets nothing and he may be safe, but it's your turn.

In order to get anything from the overhead... he has to COMMIT to either ex ice ball, the full string, or slide (if in thin ice)... ALL of which are NOT safe and FULL combo punishable.

You realise the overhead option comes with the ex ice ball, right? Which is unsafe. Nobody is mixing you up with the lone overhead that is negative on hit. They are cancelling into the ex ice ball.

Yeah, it's still a mixup that's -6 on block in both cases. That's all that needs to change.

You need to move away from this mentality that a safe mixup move is okay because it has to be cancelled.
Next you'll argue that all the braindead shit in MKX was fine because all you had to do was guess right :coffee:

On hit you cancel it, on block you don't. Nothing happens. Needs to be unsafe on block so Sub ceases to become a one-button dumbass character and people can start to play him properly instead of getting carried by a MKX bullshit tier move.

Again, I don't want Sub to be useless or a bad character, and making both F2 and B3 unsafe on block is not going to make him a bad character.

No, your argument is awful. You are saying F2 on its own needs to not be safe. The "problem" with Sub Zero is F2 cancelling into ex ice ball and allowing sub zero to loop you into a vortex. Why the hell would they nerf F2 which is already negative ON HIT? If Sub Zero hits you with F2 on its own, he gets nothing. It is literally your turn to press buttons. Why the hell would they nerf a move that is negative on hit by making it unsafe on block too?

This community really does have a habbit of demanding nerfs and buff's at the drop of a hat, which wouldn't be an issue if Neatherrealm didn't like to appease these players. We lost a lot of really good players during the MK9 days because of this.

Because he cancels it on hit and doesn't cancel it on block. So he gets a combo on hit and is safe on block.

NRS has grown wiser if we're lucky enough.
I really want this game to be the most balanced NRS game ever.
People are mortified of overperforming moves getting nerfed because of the horrible track record and I can understand that.
Jade has been shit tier for ages and she's not much better off currently.

Except he does cancel it on block. It's not hit confirmable.
Staggers. Seriously, just, stop worrying about Sub getting overnerfed and accept that F2 and B3 need to be unsafe on block. I'm not saying -40 just make them -12 so the Risk/Reward is not entirely in favour of him.
I'm playing a character whose only launcher is i28 and she has no damage to contend with Sub, he shits on her left and right.

You literally just made a series of posts full of misinformation, confirming that you haven't labbed the character at all and don't know what you are talking about, yet here you are telling people that the character needs to be nerfed. You didn't even know that F2 into ex ice ball isn't hit confirmable and needs to be committed to.

Amazing.

Dude, seriously, what are you talking about? Are you suggesting that SZ players are hit confirming a single hit move? F2 is not hit confirmable. It's also -3 on hit if you do it by itself. The only way to make use of it is to commit blindly to options that are all punishable.

This rhetoric needs to stop. ALL of SZ's options off of his OH are unsafe, and the best option (ex iceball) costs a bar in addition to being highly unsafe.

There is no Sub-Zero just throwing out naked F2s lol that thing is negative ON HIT

Actually f2 is not a bad stagger. It's not always about being negative, it's how the animation works. Once you realize he's not cancelling it to anything or do the kicks, you already lost any frame advantage and he's already doing his next move. Doing f2 to nothing is useful despite being negative. I've seen it work plenty of times.

You aren't staggering F2. It's not hit confirmable. lmfao

You either do it raw and hope they don't press a button during their turn cause he's negative or do it with ex ice ball/ex slide and hope they guessed wrong. OR do the full string and hope they're... stupid? lol

Sub would absolutely be bad if both b3 and f2 were unsafe. It's not like this guy has a gigantic move set with lots of options. This is a very straight forward and to the point version of the character that is clearly built around his ability to safely pressure with his low starter while playing neutral and fishing for potential overhead opportunities.

"Sub would still be good with unsafe b3"...how?

Oh yeah let's have a shit joke EVO for no reason other than "let's not nerf the obviously stronger top 5" that sounds perfectly rational.
It is rational, because not only is it too early for tiers yet, most characters don't have very good tourny variations, and more are supposed to be coming, which could change everything up. Custom variations should have been the only way to play from day 1. I'm sorry if you don't like the idea it takes time to fully dissect a game, but I'd rather not have rampant nerfs from an outraged vocal group ruining the game.

This dream has a sad ending
Sub-zero does need adjustments no matter what people are going to cry about. Either nerf his mixups or nerf his neutral.
Sorry but this character shouldn't be a jack of all trades and be good at everything.

My biggest problem with this guy is that all of his regular strings are safe. If he's supposed to be a 50/50 monster then leave that the way it is, it's not a hard punish on a correct guess, but it's so easy for Sub in the neutral to mix up staggers of his almost universally safe strings. If he gets to retain this 50/50 then he needs to be waaaaay less safe in general. I feel like I'm constantly trying to poke out of neverending safe stagger pressure and thats when I get hit with his big damage.

Sub's b1 strings and his b3 strings should all be made much more dangerous to use if he gets to retain this 50/50, since they all cover so much space and also lead into this crazy vortex.

A fat woman came into the shoe store today...
Isn't this like complaining about MK9 Scorpion's vortex? Pretty comparable it seems.

-Most in MK9 didn't have it.
-B2 and F4, Spear led to big damage and a vortex, but were full combo punishable.
-Or he could stay safe with F4, Takedown.
-On top of the damage and vortex, you had to worry about staggers with 1 or 1,1 or 1,1,1 and throw.

I wouldn't say in hindsight that Scorpion was playing MKX while most others were playing MK9.

(which is what that video claimed after he ate consecutive unsafe overheads)
