The only morality in a cruel world is chance.
Huge hitbox/hurtbox inconsistencies in the corner with noob . B1 upknee randomly whiffs 21 as well most of his normals actually . I get it happens midscreen cause of push back but this isnt right they need to adjust upknees path or something
agreed. his up shadow doesn't feel right

Can anyone give me some tips on vsing Jade? Seems like every string she does is near unpunishable. My only success vs her is to keep her at mid range with B3 and occasional projectiles. If I get into a corner I have no idea how to escape, the vortex is real.
It’s just a bad match up at the moment. Her anti-zone buff, combined with her outranging noob and being either safe or having good push back makes it a bad time. I went like over a dozen matches in competitive casuals with a not even especially good Jade player and felt like I couldn’t do anything a lot of the times. I took maybe 3 matches. You have to be super patient, block well, and wait for her to slip up or whiff and punish. You can try an read when she is going to do the anti-projectile buff when you try zoning and tele for a combo. I had luck with this one mixing jump ins, low pokes, the 112 string, and throws. Not sure that would work well against a better Jade player though. This one actually did not seem to know to block low always pretty much because doing so combined with her ridiculous d2 would make the above strategy not work really. Only real option then is patience, good blocking, and waiting or trying to bait out mistakes or whiffs to punish I have found. Gets real easy to get predictable though with your limited options : /. Her and Scorpion and really anyone with good pressure with a tele or anti/counter zoning option are nightmare matchups atm.....unfortunately everyone has gravitated to those characters early too. I think he needs some love. Needs some type of mixup option or viable solid mid starter/punish option and his zoning needs some love if that’s how they want him to play.

same with his shadow tackle. his crushing blows are so hard to pull off.
Tackle kb at least carries over with rounds. Can hit 5 shadows in each round and get it. But it's not rly worth it cause it means you won't be ending combos with tele that gives best dmg and positioning

So I'm still sucking pretty bad with noob, mostly bc my skill level.
After watching a lot of video on Dark Sabbath, I'm starting to realize why he has so many high combo starters....it seems to me those first hits are almost intended to wiff, move noob forward, and then connect on the 2nd hit which is often a mid (or in 212 opener, a low). Those opener strings all move him forward quite a bit, which is counterintuitive to my spacing habits after playing mkx so much over the last few months.
Sorry if I'm stating the obvious. But in most of the videos of people using Noob who know what they're doing, the space control seems to always connect that mid part of the opening string, leading to your solid Noob 20-30%.

If im reading his frame data correctly, if he connects his D1, which has a hit advantage of 11, he can follow up with his B1, which is a 9f mid, thereby annihilating any players trying to press buttons after eating his poke?

That is a luxury that my current main, Frost, doesnt not have.

I actually figured this out and have seen it too. The f22 and b1,1+3 you can whiff the first and almost kinda frame trap or meaty with the second. Hit confirm is tight though on f22. My fear is the amount of Krushing blow moves on counter punish in this game making that a dangerous game to play if they know it’s coming. Also have no option to overhead for mix up leaves jump ins and throws as your only real options to not become predictable and easily read : /.

Yeah I am starting to see him kind of like MKX Ermac, unsafe as hell, but superior damage.

In regards to the overhead, I think that's when 112 comes into play. I keep forgetting to use this, but throwing out well-timed 112 is the only reliable tool we really have to open up those low hits.

Yeah but good players will likely just take the chance of that one hit hitting because you can’t combo off it and just play safe blocking low. It’s also pretty punishable and the 11 is stubby only use I see for the 11 starting strings is punishing unsafe upclose fighters and there aren’t many if they know what they are doing or off jump ins if you struggle to get b1, 1+3 after them and want a surer bet. I’m find just the pushback from most characters putting me out of range for the 11 strings and they are highs too so I end up whiffing or getting ducked and getting punished or uppercut Krushing blowed or worse. He is meant to mid rage to full screen zone and whiff punish, but his zoning option are pretty weak at the moment and his get off me tools are not quick enough to escape pressure. He also gets wrecked by anyone that can counter-zone or has anti-zoning options because his zoning is so telegraphed and has such long recovery. Spirit ball is solid in speed and recovery, but it’s a high so they can just duck lol I think NRS was worried about having a deadshot situation again at launch and overdid nerfing zoners because they are all struggling. You can’t beat players that aren’t as great just in footsies and stuff and be successful, but at higher level he will struggle. I still play him because I figure he will get love eventually and I’ll be that much ahead. Also you basically have to just be super patient and wait or bait out mistakes from the enemy and playing him makes for pretty much forced good good fundamentals and footsies practice which will just make you a better player over all anyway. He has some competitive matchups, but like everyone is playing Jade, Scorps, and Liu who are nightmare matchups for him atm.

100% agree. noob has no 50/50's. he is all about neutral and footsies which make him hard to play. on top of that most online users seem to play scorpion and sub zero. not easy match ups.

advice on getting b1,1+3 into teleport for restand to come out?
Like just that cancel or are you saying the b1, 1+3 after an amplified tele? If it’s that you have to walk forward slightly as soon as you recover from the tele and the link to the b1, 1+3 after it is a lot later than you probably think. This whole game has my muscle memory off with that. I keep dropping combos because I’m actually trying to go to fast like in MKX. In this it has a nice rhythm to it. With a lot of links you have to do them way later than you probably think.

Does anyone else think who can and cannot punish B1,1+3 will be a big factor in the matchups? I think once all the Kanos and Johnny Cages and Sub-Zeros gain the matchup knowledge, fighting these characters means your only mid starting string is unsafe. And they'll get the punish every time because of the reversal system that lets you buffer their charge attacks during block stun. Every time I fight these characters online I know they could be punishing me if they knew the frame data.

I understand the damage comparison, but Ermac has better normal attacks and strings, a 50/50 mix up albeit unsafe on block, a superior teleport that can also be done airborne, and arguably the best move in the game in EX push.

I have yet to play Jade and Liu with Noob (not that I necessarily want to), but I can see how these two match ups would be difficult. I am speculating that Geras and Sub Zero are the most difficult, but I may be mistaken. Perhaps Erron Black is the most manageable top tier character.

It's funny how often I see this scorpion sub zero comment on this forum. I'm on Xbox, playing competitive vs and have not seen that a ton. Def not that many subs.

Honestly patience and not panic. I know that sounds canned, but it’s the truth. He just has a lot of tools and is a really well designed character. If you go rounds with one that gives you trouble, add them as a friend and play them more. Really do this with any character. The more exposure to a matchup you have even if you lose 9/10 the better. Learn that character’s tendencies and the matchup and learn when to punish, when to block and what works and doesn’t one round at a time. It will be rough at first, but as you do it you will get to know Noob more and get your mind in a place that will make you better and it easier overall. Keep rematching those players that body you and try to just get slightly better each time. No one cares about your Kasual record and those scrubs you body are making you better. If you are losing or struggling it’s an opportunity to learn. Take it for as long as your opponent will. Watch your matches back too. That’s how you learn and get better and you don’t even need to know a combo to do it.

My friend that I play against the most actually mains Erron Black. I feel like he has the advantage at any time during the match and at any distance. He can completely nullify my zoning, has up close and midscreen 50/50s, and his mids that lead to combos have better range. And then there's other stuff I'm not even mentioning like his dd3 cancel (which doesn't even take a defensive bar). I'm a pretty patient player (I've always been willing to lose a bunch of times), but I don't feel like patience is rewarded fighting Erron. I know my reactions aren't the best, but I just feel like I'm guessing all of the time

I also don't think him having a projectile counter that he just has to hold and f4 being safe is well-designed. Don't even get me started on his 10f Fatal Blow!

Yes. Fortunately, Kano's ball and Sub Zero's shoulder are inconsistent while some other advancing forward moves always punish reliably. The most notable ones are Cage's and Jade's shadow kicks, Jacqui's dash punch, Liu Kang's flying kick, Geras's sand pillar, and Sub Zero's slide, but there may be a couple more that I am forgetting.

Another big (and irritating) factor is the low-profiling of Noob's u+3 on wake up. Bad karma from using Atom in Injustice, I guess. LOL.

Hey guys, I'm colourblind and need a bit of help here...
Does Noob have a dark purple version of his no-crotch-flap/pants/chest-armour skin?

erron is imo better than noob. if you fight against a good erron you will likely lose. he has insane tools. i'm playing noob at the moment but will also learn erron / sub just to compete against high tiers.

I too have been using Erron Black. In fact, he is currently my best character. The difference between using Erron Black and Noob is like night and day.

By the way, Chris G's opinion on Noob (from a tweet).

I know noob is kinda wack, but hes literally the only reason I am playing MK11. I hope his variations get opened up a little, his crushing blows get fixed, and his frame data not be sooooo negative. These are only dreams, and considering that I just won, I expect the opposite LOL.
I am also giving Toxin one month before he drops the character. LOL.

I always end up picking low tier characters so I was surprised to see some big names using noob. But as you say I have a feeling it's only working for now since it's new and eventually he will be only able to poke and never get to land these big combos.
I need a new char and ready hard enough without Ermac, now I have to start over again. I'm getting too old for this shit.
