MK11 Story Discussion Thread (obvious spoilers)

Also there is no way Kronika should have lost with her powers. She somehow didn't forsee Liu Kang fusing with Raiden. She also said she had conversations with Raiden countless amounts of times about him stopping her...........so if thats the case, what happened in those timelines to where she couldn't do her time reset. This makes no sense
Yeah

This entire story is just a giant plothole that leads to another reboot, but with infinte possiblites with what they can do, due to Liu and Kitana being the new keepers/couple of time now

so, while we wont see any new mk game for a while, they did get themselves out of a messy corner, caused by themselves.

But this was really ugly

i still felt mkx was worse though.

MKX was not worse. This was literally incoherent.

Why did Kronika bring back the fighters that were against her?
Idk, it felt worst to me, mostly my opinon

mk11 had some cool twists though (Liu mergring with Raiden caught me off guard, Raiden is now human)

So, some interesting things

Rest was bad though

Its kinda hard for me

But, they both bad tbh.

BIG D POLE .
I don't think this is better than MKX. MKX at least had a coherent plot and tried a little bit to move the story forward.
NRS STOP. WITH. THE. MULTIPLE. TIMELINES. You can't pull it off. Give some respect to your new characters. Their development was shit.
yea erron or scarlett didnt do much i hope thier arcade endings are good..

What's the point of a random Krypt?
I am avoiding reading anything to not spoil the surprise, but I do want to watch the storymode. Is it uploaded anywhere? I could not find it.

While MKX can be seen as a mess:
-The story feels disjointed at times
-Wasted plotlines/vague comic references (the whole "civil war", the "Edenian resistance", the "Reiko Accords", plots that in the end mean nothing)
-OOC Kotal Kahn in the third act
-Some cuestionable plot decisions (Raiden missing for like the whole central plot)

Besides all of that, MKX had a clear goal: To tell the story of the new Kombat Kids and how they learn to trust each other and work together, eventually going full circle with the awakening of Cassie's power and defeating Shinnok just like her father did. It's cheesy, but it works.
At the same time you have the new Outworld ruler and his comrades. D'Vorah is the one that plays a major role, that involves Quan Chi and Shinnok. Shinnok --> Johnny --> Cassie.

You can follow it. You get to know the characters, there is a sense of consequences (deaths of characters, Revenants being trapped forever thanks to Hanzo, etc), you can roll with it.

MK11, while it has a strong start and an interesting set of characters; it starts to go downhill when time travel is introduced, and then it's just like an excuse to do a reset.
The way Raiden fuses with Liu Kang is a solid Deus Ex Machina. Especially because there is no character on their side that could fight Kronika in a one on one battle. The only character that could've filled that role of aid/guidance to defeat such a powerful enemy is Cetrion, and guess what...

It's a complete mess. Why does Kronika bring back characters that will fight against her. Someone already pointed that out, she should've brought evil/neutral individuals!
Revenant Liu Kang learns Shinnok's magic, and now steals souls. Where is Shinnok? In the prologue Kronika hints at changing things because she wants him to success, but then he is irrelevant in the whole story.
Why kill characters, make alliances (like one of my favorite moments: Kitana joining forces with Baraka and Sheeva, this is amazing, but I bet it's already discarded), that won't matter because this is a reset.

Shouldn't Noob Saibot be neutral/free if Quan Chi is not around? Yet he keeps sticking around with the Revenants lmao

I think there are a lot of REALLY GOOD IDEAS:
-The rule of Kotal Kahn and his relationship with Jade
-Kitana uniting all the armies
-Liu Kang becoming a Protector God
-Raiden making peace with Liu Kang and retiring
-Dark Raiden going to extreme measures, starting to question himself
-Cassie and Jacqui growing as characters, taking the lead on the Special Forces

But they're all poorly executed!!

Oh, both were bad no doubt. But MKX also had twists at the end, Emperor Liu Kang and Dark Raiden. Cassie and Johnny’s green energy saving the day. It was completely abandoned in this game though.

MK11 was about nothing. Kronika, a new being we have never even been hinted at prior to now, decided she didnt like that Shinnok was defeated, even though that happened before and this was not the outcome. She keeps time, something I didnt know needed “keeping” in this universe. She wanted to start fresh, to do so, for some reason, she needed to first create seperate timelines and then merge the timelines? Not just turn time back? Im not sure what that deal is, but she summons mostly her own enemies, save for the known hero and undefeatable Jax, who she knew would have her back. She states to Raiden in a very well worded way “Ive done this every way possible and failed so I KNOW this ones gonna work.” Like wtf. You did what. Youve tried this a bunch already? But youve been failing each time? K. So she has Jax, Geras who is literally Drahmin and Moloch level of charisma vacuum, and Frost. Jax because hes easily manipulated, Frost because Raiden didnt see her potential.

Shao came back, with a pretty remixed crew, and it didnt matter. It was for nothing. What the actual hell.

What the fuck.

How did Liu steal his own soul.

What exactly gave Raiden the forced fusion power? Is that new?

Where tf was Fujin.

What is this story. Why did Shinnok being Cetrions sister ever matter? What the hell dude. Why did Noob, Skarlet, or anyone else decide to show up?

How can you say its better than Mkx. Mkx sucked, but it sucked with purpose. This did the opposite of make me invested or explain the characters and universe.

Looking back at it more

Yeah, Mk11 is worse than Mkx

I hope we dont go back to this time travels hit again.

Oh yeah, I wanted to mention that the idea of Frost as Tekunin Grandmaster (or Cyber Lin Kuei) it's also really good and interesting on paper. In my opinion, it's especially good to put the current Sub-Zero in a difficult situation.

But then... they barely interact with each other.

Not to mention having Frost killed by Raiden, so don't know whhyyyy they exactly brought her back. I mean she's a dope kharacter but yeaahh. Her story is pretty lackluster and doesn't lead to anything.

Noob and Sub dont interact.
Frost and Sub barely interact.
No character grows AT ALL. None of the extended universe lore likemany of us love is even touched.

Was the Kollector even necessary? Would anyone have been upset if that spot went to Ermac? Or Motaro or Rain or Reiko or any character historically working for Shao? If we were expected to accept Frost as a Kronika henchmen, couldnt Cetrion had easily been replaced by a requested God level character like a corrupted Fujin?

It was pointless and Shallow. If you story and lore fans got so upset over Mileena that you beat Twitter to death, I really would like to see that amplified over this story.

Give us either a new form of Mk media that can be respectful of the property and tell a proper cohesive tale, or dont put this trash in your games at all.

I would rather not have to think about how the tournament variations look so half baked and its because you bafoons think you can be fighting game Quentin Tarrentinos when youre actually knock off Michael Bay.

Yeah, but she is the leader of the Tekunin just because Kronika wanted? I didn't sense much motivation on Frost. The whole Cyber Lin Kuei thing is weird. Why is Sektor a subordinate of Frost?
