FYI two of my mains are in the game. The one misdmis is Cyrax.
My fiance uses Mileena and my brother mains Reptile.
I just found it compelling that two fan favorites that have been in almost every MK are missing from the leak.
(Mileena and Reptile) both of which I never used and didn't really much care for in terms of playstyle but I absolutely believe NRS would be making a huge mistake by not adding these two.

Like I said before it was just my personal opinion/speculation. I wasn't by any means saying other viewpoints weren't valid.

Kitana will definitely be in - she's on the menu, she's in gameplay videos (Cassie speaks to her in one intro) and she's Empress of the Netherrealm, so there's really no way she's been dropped for a game.

The Steam leaks don't cover all characters, so it stands to reason some are missing.

Sareena, Li Mei and Tanya we can probably rule out, though I think one of the former may be DLC.

I agree Kitana will make it in.

I seriously hope so, because I'm sick of seeing the same group of 'safe' characters, and with what is looking like a relatively small roster (25 + DLC) we need to start dropping some of the usual suspects, e.g. Mileena, Ermac, Reptile... in my view also Sonya, and I wouldn't have brought back Jacqui, but what can you do?

I'm just holding out for Rain and Noob, because every time I see another bloody Kano or Sonya I just know that Fujin doesn't stand a chance for base roster.

I think they're gonna focus on Jade & Kitana as an interesting relationship instead. So I think it's possible, yeah. It's nice to have the two together, but their MKX stories were totally separate as well.

Nope.

There has never been a time in NRS history in which a character was in the main roster and then DLC in the very next game and I doubt they’ll do that now.

So either she’s in the main roster or she’s not in the game at all

I don’t count him because all 4 of them shared the same similarities as in normals and such. They just had different specials.

I can see if they were 4 completely different characters but they weren’t.

If I were Ed Boon I'd have the opening intro of the game be a recap of mkx and show D'Vorah eating Mileenas face off again with a disclaimer that says "I was going to put Mileena in the game but y'all spammed my personal Twitter account on a literal daily basis with mileena demands so you can go fuck right the hell off and wait until mk12.

Street Fighter V only had 16 in its launch roster. That's 12 legacy characters with most of their stuff carried over. They had little to no skins, just colors.
Let's be thankful we're getting 25. With various gear and skins to equip them with....as well as their own list of abilities to equip as well.

Scorpion, Sub and Raiden are the only ones that I think really should be in every game. They are the faces of the game and always popular.

I wish they'd give some of the other staples a break. Like Sonya, Johnny and Kano. That's not to say you can never have them again. But you could one in this game and the others in the next one, just to keep things fresh. In that sense, I'm kinda glad that we're not getting all of Ermac, Reptile and maybe even Mileena.

Don't get me wrong, I love all these characters. But some variety is important, otherwise we'd have the same roster in every game.

I think you seriously underestimate the amount of people for whom Liu Kang, Kitana, Johnny Cage, Sonya, Kano, Shang Tsung, and Goro are faces of the game as well.
