Well has no female tarkatan and says variations are a go. So they differ there. Honestly more inclined to believe the first only because this one says each variation is basically a whole new characer with different moves and xrays and shit, which would be much much more diverse than the current variation system and would effectively lead to designing 90+ movesets.
I like how that Reddit "leak" can name every single character in the game, what modes are returning/getting improvements, story details, etc, but he can't give the names of the new characters and just calls the game Mortal Kombat 11 (which could happen but I feel like the game is going to get a subtitle or something).
And then there's the 4chan "leak" that seems even faker. I would love to be wrong but I doubt we are going to get a full blown Shaolin Monks mode on top of a normal MK game. I think it would be too much for NRS to handle, especially since the leak claims they are switching to a new engine and are using a new animation system. There's just no way.
Most leakers can't tell you everything that is going to be in the game, or if they do, it's usually because the devs are done adding new content and are switching to polishing the game AND the source is very close to the devs (which is rare). I'm not believing this "I'm an anonymous guy with no track record but I have a source! *Proceeds to detail every single thing in the game*" BS that's spreading. It reads like a fan who is just hyped that the game might be revealed at TGA and is basically posting their wishlist as a "leak" for attention leading up to the event. "Tag team mode is in the game!", "Fujin is in!", "Shoalin Monks 2 is literally a mode in the game!"
The only thing I believe right now is that voice actor mentioning how his work was cut from the game, and I only believe that because he's a legit guy (he's done voices for Overwatch and stuff like that it seems). So really the only info we have right now that seems legit is: MK11 is a thing (duh), and Reptile and Kung Lao is in it. That's it.
Now I personally believe MK11 could be revealed at TGA, especially since Rocksteady was able to de-confirm their game being there which means NRS would most likely be able to do the same but they didn't. And the fact that Ed mentioned a few months back about how the game "wasn't quite ready to be shown" which sounded like, well, it wasn't quite ready but close (so we should be closer now). But I'm not getting my hopes up because I thought this game wasn't going to be at E3 and then Gamescom and nothing happened.
Now I hope it really happens (and I'll top my post off with a small wishlist), but even if it does get announced, I'm hoping they show gameplay. I really don't want to be speculating on a CG trailer about what mechanics the game could have and whatnot. Plus on December 6th at midnight (which would be the 7th at that point), Super Smash Bros. Ultimate will be available to play if you preloaded -- which I have -- so I'm going to be playing that.
I want more 3D characters (Fujin, Reiko, Havik, Li Mei, Kai, etc)
I'm hoping we get like 30 characters this time, but if it's around 24 again then I think certain characters like Johnny and Sonya need a break (especially since Cassie is probably returning, I don't want this roster to feel like MKX but with a couple more characters). I would say Reptile also, but the voice actor says he's in the game, so yeah...
Look at the hype it's generating, and we desperately need it. It's coming eventually, so might as well swirl in the speculation this leak has sparked with some optimism.
I think the "roster" looks great aside from Kombat Kucks. But I guess it's never too late for redemption, especially with the prospect of a juicy, lore-filled adventure mode.
No Ermac or Mileena is disheartening, but I'll suck it up for having Reptile, Noob, Bae Rai Cho, Fujin, and Shang.
And then NRS would lose a shitload of money if they did that lol. I could see the outrage now without those two. Boon would have to shut down his twitter lol
The Reiko part is so laughable after what happened in the comics. So now he's somehow alive, suddenly became a Kotal's buddy and protector of Outworld AND is gonna die again in the middle of the game.
As to the WHEN, I'm still thinking Spring 2020 makes the most sense. It pushes NRS out of the two year cycle, which they've said they want to do. It gives them enough time to let people do the whole pre-order thing during the holidays. And it sets them up to release the game towards the start of the FGC season, such as it is.
Not sure why some are getting annoyed by this thread. People are craving MK news and it's fun to discuss. Obviously we know nothing is set in stone, but INJ2 is in the past and people are excited for the next MK. I do hope that Ermac is in the game, though. I'd miss him a lot, as he's always been my favorite character. Reiko will be a nice consolation prize. If Shao Kahn is playable I don't really care who else makes it in.
I do not think the focus of most of the discussion here is about the games... more about fame whores and lie to your face bullshit artists on youtube trying to get views.
These are not a bunch of fans having a fun discussion about the future of the franchise they enjoy.. it is us (actual fans) discussing how these people are bald facing lying and manipulating us for gain.
People posting crap as "real spoilers" is bad enough.. but the endless chain of whispers as media people pick it up and run with it until it makes it to "legit" news sources is fucking disgusting, imo.
And sure, this is a game.. so it is trivial... but this exact thing is what makes so much of the news after the invention of the internet to be complete BS. The erosion in the quality of and the belief that the media is trustworthy is one of the biggest fails of the modern democratic world. So some asshat making up bullshit isn't the problem.. it is people like Max and Klautu Gaming and stuff that piss me off. Particularly when you think the same shit is happening with actual issues that matter.
