Ok guys, incoming dumbass question, I realized when you knock someone down and you go for a shimmy, I noticed if you walk back and bait the tech throw and you press a heavy (most likely the crush counter) you get that, a cc. BUT...you can just stand there bait the tech throw and get a crush counter if they go for a tech throw WITHOUT having to walk back (shimmy), so my question is, why even walk back if you get the same result. Can someone learn me a lesson here?

I could be wrong because I really don’t know shit about GuessFV other than how bad it is but I think it’s mainly to trick them into being more likely to attempt the throw tech (and making sure you aren’t in range to get thrown yourself, when they go for it).

If you move in close their natural instinct is you’re going for a throw and then you step out of range and mop them up for trying to tech the thing they thought you were gonna do but didn’t bc you’re two steps ahead and they’re idiots. Or you’re Ken or whatever lol.

That makes perfect sense, thanks for bodying me.

It depends on knockdown advantage too. Just how much time you have and what will meaty and what wont. The walk back can make it dangerous to throw out buttons for fear of a whiff, BUT since you are walking back, if they are on buttons, or a DP or somesuch, you're holding back, you block.. so its a strong position for you in general. You control the spacing, are staying defensive and forcing them to make a read on what you're doing where most of the options arent badly against you. The movement forces the opponent to make a decision to protect themselves, where most of their options AT BEST lead back to a neutral situation. Movement triggers response.

Yup, so true, didn't even think of this reason either, I mean you are blocking regardless of what's happening, thanks man great response also along with the one from @Johnny Based Cage.

Anybody remember FANG? Literally haven't fought one in a year and I just found one not too long ago online lol

Couldn't believe my eyes when I saw him, totally forgot about him lol

I think he's amazing. Im just too bad to ever play him. So I stick to Urien*.

*Urien can be quite difficult to play, with fancy conversions and all that.. Or you can just mash the shit out of st.hp forever. - Guess which style I pllaayyyyyyyyyy

Watching some of the Thaiger Uppercut stuff.

Ya know, I have no idea what/where Abigail actually falls tier-wise, since I barely even play this game I'm certainly not qualified to say.. but from the outside looking in, he is a HORRIBLE look for the game right now. Watching this character isnt entertaining or interesting, its pathetic. Honestly. Sorry, but it is. Even if other characters are BETTER, how Abigail wins and what he can do, etc, validates almost every criticism SFV gets in relation to gameplay and makes the game look TERRIBLE.

As disgusted as I was by some of the shit Balrog did last season, Abigail takes it to another level.

This isnt a salty response to losing to an Abigail. I lose to everyone. Fuck if it matters who I play against or who they play. Oddly enough the two Abi's Ive run in to since I started playing a little here and there, ive managed to beat. They were both terrible terrible players, equally as terrible as me, my advantage being.. Fuck if I know. I won. This is purely fueled by WATCHING Abigail lose over and over again.. but still take games. I cant help but think when Abi gets nerfed, these players are going to be considerably worse than when they started. I get it, its part of your job to win.. But god damn.

What actually are you crying about when it comes to the character though, then? That’s a whole lot of long paragraphs that didn’t actually really say anything at all.

Like, what do you expect the quintessential, age-old grappler/brawler archetype to have besides damage? He’s big, slow, has poor defense, gets little oki, and is last season Laura all over again once people are learning the matchup.

S2 Gief was scarier, Guile is more braindead, etc., etc. so idk what you’re so salty about. I mean the comeback factor’s been hype to most people, it’s just the oversaturation of all the bandwagon dickrider Abigails that seems to be killing it at this point.

First off, no crying involved chief. I don't even really play SFV right now, outside like.. a set a week or something. So I have little to no emotional investment in Abigail. I will always love SF though and want it to do well.

If you don't see how he makes the game look bad, well, hurray!

I said he makes the game look bad. I didn't say he was OP. Or that he was braindead. I don't know, nor give a wet, sweaty fart where he actually falls in the power spectrum.. but when you see the looks of disgust on the faces of people playing against him, and watching from.th crowd and everything else, then there is something wrong. Itazan himself looks sad when he plays abi. Dude is so hype normally and camera pans over even after a win and he's expressionless.

If you think he has no Oki (or what he has is weak or bad in some way) ok? If you think he has no defense, ok? If you think he has NOTHING but damage, and that damage is fine because he's a brawler/grappler, ok? You are welcome to your opinions and I'm welcome to mine and time will bear out the truth of it. And I'll admit when Im wrong if it happens. And it could. Last season after Ibuki's buffs I said that wasn't enough and not what she really needed...and I was super duper god damn wrong. But... I don't think I am in this case.

Nothing I say is going to change your mind, and you aren't going to convince me (or anyone else who isn't an Abi player or just likes playing devil's advocate) otherwise. Yes, just because everyone thinks something, or an opinion is popular doesnt mean it's true, but it doesn't discount it's validity either, and popular opinions are often popular because they correct.

So, one last time. I didn't say he was OP. I don't know where on a tier list he sits. No clue.. that's not the point. HOW he often wins is the point.

I wasn’t trying to argue though, I was asking and trying to figure out what you’re so butthurt about. Paragraphs upon paragraphs about the glimmer of a tear in the corner of Itazan’s eye while he plays this character because of “how he wins” is the most vague, inarticulate shit I’ve ever heard and I’d like to know what your beef actually is. “How he wins” mostly seems to be by absurd damage to me so if that isn’t your issue what is?

You’re entitled to your opinion but if you’re going to spew out such a strong one in so many words without actually saying anything at all about why you feel the character is “pathetic” and “makes the game look terrible”, expect to be questioned about it, champ. I’m not even trying to argue, I’m just genuinely curious as to what the fuck you mean because right now you sound like a kid who doesn’t like veggies because they’re “icky.”

What did you guys expect? He has more horsepower than the rest of the cast. :DOGE

Seriously though I get in a way what both of you are saying. There's usually a character that is called a noob killer if you will, a character that seems too strong from the outside but when you start finding exploits then becomes an average character. Blanka in sf 2 is a perfect example, he scared people when someone chose him but once you started getting better at the game you were like "meh blanka". Not saying any of you are wrong and I understand both of you guys, I just say it's too early to see what Abigail will do.
