I think we can all agree this was not the buff we saw coming, but after seeing it I'm totally down. It's nice to finally see Swamp Thing use his wings in action. This is going to help him so much mobility wise its ridiculous.

Ok so assuming it is not a gear move. Would this help that much? I mean if you can go airborne before getting hit by a projectile it means that you could have gone for a jip 2 which has a lot of reach also.

Absolutely. Being able to hang in the air because of swamps slow floaty jump then airdash forward into a j.1 (which is very active) or a j.2 (which has huge reach and is an easy confirm) helps so much against zoners like deadshot.

Not only that but this makes midscreen control after a trait combo pretty do-able even if they roll or backdash out of a knockdown. Also makes his ambiguous j.1 after a green thumbx2 even better

Air dash with swamp thing means cross up j2/j3 if it works anything like firestorms. Lmao, this is the most hamfisted buff I've ever seen for NRS but I'm absolutely loving it.

I wish they gave him deadshots wrist shot, but wings will do fine.

Did NRS mention anything about a watchtower stream yet? I'm extremely happy that they're looking more into fixing swamp thing's gameplay. But tbh I didn't expect them to do anything this soon, so it's leaving me really curious as to what they have planned for everyone else.

I honestly thought we wouldn't see anymore patches till after Fighter pack 2. So to see something this significant is kinda jarring. But in a good way. Hopefully we'll hear more about what they have in store for swamp things and everyone else soon.

Trying to get my Swampthing up to the level my Banes at and really digging him right now. Some stuff I found recently.

After GT(2) in the corner imo it's best to mix up j1 ambiguously into d2xxGT(2) or d2xxdb2, d1xxGT(2), allowing you to loop this set up over and over if they don't know how to wake up properly to deal with it. If air dash is truly a thing this will become incredibly deadly.

S2 is kinda shit. I'd stay away from using it at all really. The best set up for s2 if you're trying to incorporate it is after b23 on hit in the corner. You're +31 on hit and if they block the string it's neutral with a lot of block stun so you can react accordingly. They ain't going anywhere and have to block s2 at best when b23 hits. Most people will stay blocking Swamp Thing low so if they are not looking for it, they'll get hit.

Also, if you launch in the corner with meter, always pop trait during your combo. The damage trade off works out in your favor plus it can lead to even more damage while putting the opponent in a state of panic. I posted a shit ton of combos in the ST combo thread near the end if you want ideas on what to do.

I tried to simulate how to go about setting it up. From my experience, after you set up trait and end in Vine Grab, back off for a second. People love to wake up in this game.

What am I doing wrong that when I activate trait at times it creates a small puddle of garden but then it immediately stops spreading? I am not deactivating the trait neither am I doing a move that stops the spreading neither am I getting hit. Does this happen to you? is this a bug or am I moving too fast after activating trait?

Are you mashing trait? Pressing trait again after activating it will get it to stop spreading, pressing trait a third time will deactivate trait.
