Work Costumes Coming to Street Fighter V!

It’s time to punch in for work!

In our previous blogpost, we mentioned school costumes are coming to Street Fighter V for Ryu, Chun-Li and Juri, alongside the remastered Thailand stage.

That’s not all as we have three more work-themed costumes coming on the same day for Alex, R. Mika and Chun-Li. The team created these by thinking what sort of jobs would the characters have, if they weren’t fighting?

Alex is all warmed up; paying tribute to the brave men and women of his hometown with a firefighter costume. We think we could make an entire calendar of just screenshots of Alex in this costume.

R. Mika, the Rainbow Bomber, is utilizing her vocal prowess and fighting spirit in a cheerleader costume. In case you’re wondering, the pom-poms can be taken off.

Chun-Li dons business attire, ready to tackle any meeting. Between Chun-Li’s work costume and Kolin’s nostalgia costume, who would you want working for you?

For those who want to rock the workplace, these costumes join the previously announced School Costumes and will be available on April 25th for $3.99 / ¥400 / €3.99 each.

It's all so very confusing.
Vega's changes basically read to me "Claw Stance is now not so shit that it's even worth taking risks early on to get out of". It's still the first thing I'm going to be doing when I get the chance (and they literally the st.HP Claw Switch to do so), I'm just not going to do it first thing in the round any more. I don't expect to see much gains from Vega over this patch
Possibly, but I read it as claw stance has more damage follow-up and possibly pressure so his like and keep-away game in claw will hopefully be more rewarding. I also seem to recall reading somewhere (this is complete hearsay so don't take this as ANYTHING approaching fact) that he can do some new juggles off ex wall dive allowing for better damage and probably pressure as well.

I don't think this will all of a sudden make Vega top 10 or anything but *if* the damage and combos into and out of claw stance are a thing , I'd think it would make the like and and keepaway style a lot more viable in a general sort of way.

The problem though is that mid range keep-away is difficult in a game like this with so many short, fast dashes and where a lot of the characters youd traditionally want to keep out have strong long range normals to contest you with.

I love Vega and in s1 he is probably my second most played character, though I drifted away from him for no reason other than my character adhd, so I really hope his buffs turn out to be useful. The idea of a keep-away character that can transition in to up close rushdown that's packing a command grab and best or second best in game walk speed? Yes,pls.

I still don't understand why he lost his 3f button and f+hp in claw being as awful as it is a little mind boggling. I also feel like I'm I spend a bar ex wall dive shouldn't be so mindlessly easy to stop but I can see why they did it that way.

Vegas not as bad as everyone thinks. He wasn't as good as everyone thought at the start of s1 and he's not as bad as everyone thinks he is now. He's pretty middle of the road.

Another Chun costume? ..,sigh. Firefighter Alex looks ok. Cheerleader Mika is boring and uninspired.

But hey , push that update back, But PLEASE keep throwing dlc at me. I know that I'm happiest to spend money on a game after the devs fail to deliver quality and quality of life improvements, balance improvements and general connectivity improvements.

I agree actually, but in an ideal universe everyone is in that a+ bracket and I feel like Vega is almost there but not quite. His changes might get him there though.,i,still want my dann 3f knee back.

I love this game, but agree man, could really work on improving the game but you have dlc every 2 minutes. I know designers and devs are different people in sf 5 but seems like they have 30,000 doing dlc costumes and 2 people working on the actual game play. Anyways hope patch drops soon.

God Confirm

We're all from Earthrealm. If not, cool pic brah.

the thing is though all those buffs you described for claw stance are already there in clawless, except with an excellent cmd grab mix up and even better frames on the normals... the hitboxes are so shit in claw mode as you touched on, but instead of providing a real reason to be in the stance capcom is really just trying to give some of the clawless bonuses to claw mode, which ends up just making claw mode hurt less to be in, but yet still not be ideal.

Most good Vega's spin out of claw asap, check Nemo he often backdashes first thing each round and sacrifices his space, just to safely switch stance before the fight begins. Trying to push the claw normals is a flawed strategy due to how overly cautious capcom has been with their hitboxes, and also just the nature of this game i general as you mentioned, Vega is best played as a mobile rushdown character with grapple mixes ala Mika, except with much nicer spacing pressure and combos as a trade off for the meterless grappling that she gets. These buffs will do nothing to change that. I think most Vega players agree that if Capcom isn't interested in significantly changing claw, the number one buff better than anything we just got would be making it so that we don't have to start the round with claw on, and thus can completely ignore it.

I'm not saying the character is bad, I'm just saying don't expect his placing to go up even a single spot over these changes, they are borderline irrelevant. There are some claw favored Vega's out there who will love it so I'm happy for them, but they are like the MKX equivalent of Hat Trick players at this point just sticking to a strategy largely outclassed by the other one because it's the playstyle they enjoy.

EDIT: the cr.HP buff is dope, and the buff to being able to actually switch to clawless off st.HPxxStance is kinda not that relevant but still welcome nonetheless.. LK roll being +1 on hit improves the mix-up too. Buffs aren't irrelevant, claw stance is still shit tho
