Except Black Adam was hella top tier and 100% needed nerfs (just not the extent that he received).

Both started strong before becoming what they are - and that is a character that is hard to land hits accurately with on a consistent basis.

The MU numbers did get reset so it's going to take some time for the actual numbers to settle. Once they do settle, it usually feels pretty accurate.

To be fair, a lot of the top players on twitter are saying that Guile and Akuma could be top tier too. It's not just scrubs whining on Eventhubs. Obviously, neither is an NRS-style broken top tier, and if they are top tier it's the relatively "fair" sort of top tier.

For those that think it's ridiculous they are top - which 5 characters are obviously better? Only character I personally think is guaranteed top 5 is Cammy, who was already top and inexplicably got buffed.

I think people are overestimating akuma for the same reason they overestimated ibuki when she was released. They see the weaknesses but they also see the v trigger highlights and think that that's how every game is. Akuma isn't as bad as ibuki was in season 1, and he can build trigger pretty well, but he's got a huge gap between his floor and ceiling and will never be as consistent as characters like cammy/guile that are always threatening and while his trigger is incredible I think characters like Urien have similar power spikes in trigger without having the weaknesses out of it that akuma has.

Time will tell though, but I'm putting akuma in the middle of the pack, maybe slightly below average.
