Street Fighter V General Discussion

It is easy to react to drop kick or cr hp if you have it in your mind that they are reasonably likely to try it.

IMO it is near impossible to do it 5 out of 5 times if you are worried about that, along with all her other options. And against Season 1 Mika, getting it 4/5 times is not good enough, especially if you play a character with weak defensive options. The fact that body splash is not safe also doesn't stop her from doing it - the risk reward is still fine.

Even Luffy has said in interviews that he only started having success with Mika when he stopped playing so cautiously and just started randomly mixing up these options, knowing that the risk/reward is so attractive and you only have to get it right once per round.
All her other options being what exactly? Dash up or jump? Her risk reward was in her favor when she got in but everything she had WAS reactable or unsafe. It's not opinion it's just the frame data. Cr hp only worked from a range that was about 5 pixels wide so you didn't have took for it anywhere else, and dropkick was full combo punishable on reaction. Her offense was overwhelming, but her neutral certainly wasn't.

Anyone wanna kick my ass? I bought a ps4 and sf5 a bit over a week ago and have been playing with friends but I'd like some matchup knowledge outside of Balrog Urien Akuma and Guile.

Yeah, I agree her ability to win the neutral isn't great. Most characters should be winning the neutral most of the time, assuming equal skill levels. However, she doesn't need to frequently win the neutral, as her reward for winning it once is huge.

Also, my broader point wasn't that she was overpowered (she's not), it's that she's not fun to fight and fighting her involves more unsafe guessing games than usual on both sides. While all of her options in neutral are very reactable in isolation, I do not think it's possible to simultaneously react to her cr hp, drop kick, jump ins, dash, and simply walking into a range where she wants to be. You need to pick a couple that you want to react to, and resign yourself to blocking the rest. And if you picked wrong, you are in a bad position, as all of these are very threatening to even block for most characters. On top of that, body splash is completely un-reactable, and (if she can get to the right range) Mika can just roll the dice and make you guess if she feels like it.

In contrast, Laura does not have a way to alter her jump trajectory, nor does she have advancing moves which make her plus on block. She also doesn't put you in the corner as easily. Hence, fighting her is less guess-heavy, and to me, more enjoyable.

Agree to disagree then. I liked fighting vs Mika as ryu/mika.

Good stuff man! Are you going to keep grinding it or are you going to start camping Diamond? :p
Sit until they give the netcode a helping hand, the problem I have is that I can set the game to 4-5 and get decent matches with not many problems. But It takes way too long to get matches sometimes, or I play the same person 3 sets in a row rather a good selection of players.

Plus I have Blazblue to play for a bit.

Hitting diamond is free but if you drop the ball once to some platinum bumming you out since you're being matched with them 24/7 you have to beat them 5 times just to recover the points you lost lul the time invested with the loading screens and queue makes it hassle there really should be a wall separating the bumdowns from us gdlk diamonds

So, I caved and bought USF4 for PS4. There are so many things I hate about the game and yet I've played it 120+ hours AND bought it on 360, PS3, and now PS4. Sheer madness.

Add me if you want to play USF4, SFV, or KOF14. PSN is stnhdr, CFN is also stnhdr.

Please add, I need friends! I hate having to always look for random people.

It's all so very confusing.
Just exploring some characters I've never looked at before. Took a week or so break from SFV and just kinda poking around.

You mind to list me the main combos a Rashid needs to know? And any fun wombo-combo he happens to have?
