ALL I HAVE IS THE GREEN.
My completely unqualified opinion of Akuma after 1 week is that he suffers from SFV DLC syndrome and that he won't be good until season 3 overbuffs.

ok so i did a litte bit more research and it seems to me in my opinion in 4 and 5 the opponent has to be in a airborne state to do " resets "

A reset is when you put your opponent into an air borne state and then hit them with a normal move such as a jab to make them "reset" out of the combo instead of ending the combo with a standard finisher. Resets are used to start mix up games because the opponent will have to react to what you do after you reset them as they come down from the air. This is typically frowned upon in tournament play in that you are giving up guaranteed damage in favor of a mix up. That said, it is still imperative to know reset set-ups for each character to understand how they work and what to expect.

As an example, Akuma in many games has a number of different resets by hitting the opponent with a jab after a hurricane kick.

i apologize to everybody

there is only three 3 ways to put somebody in a airborne state either u can crush counter them knocking them out of the air after a anti air or something like akuma's tastu or cammy's ex dive kick moves like that have those properties.

Like v trigger fireball, and having it hit once, crossup, then hit again. And I think you can do fireball hit, instant overhead, fireball 2nd hit, crossup.

Really v trigger fireball allows her to go pretty free on offense.
I don't know a ton about the matchup but on the surface it looks pretty bad for Alex.

You gave her too much space. You walk back a lot and don't take advantage of Alex's superior range/space control. Once she's in or Alex is in the corner it's bad, but she's gotta work for that, unless you let her have it. Try holding down back when you want to build charge instead of just back, and work on your buffers to try and control the space that he likes to dash into. There were a lot of dash up jab into frame trap/throws that were too free.

Btw do you think I use the charge move too much or was it well placed?

Too much, and you were too obvious with when you wanted to do it. You always hold back to build space if anyone knows the distances it's obvious when it's coming. thats the only reason I could dp them on reaction with Karin. Don't be afraid to just walk forward and take up space with Alex backing off and trying to just elbow your way in is ok in some situations but the characters buttons are good enough that he can threaten a lot of characters in the straight up ground game.

I think Juri might be able to use her movement speed similar to Nash and that will probably help her against slower characters. But you were way too passive. You walked back a lot and let me have control very easily. You got to fight back more and hold your ground.

Alright so things I need to work on!

  • Actually using V-Trigger on Alex.
  • Being sure to use the +2 frame advantage on hit that Cr. MP gives me instead of just pressing the button again.
  • Press my advantage and use my good buttons to control the game.
  • LESS LARIAT (I press that button a bit too much)
  • Less Elbow
  • Stand my ground.

@@MylesWright_ my bad that crossup stuff is using regular fireball. You trigger after the fireball.

But I still believe trigger fireball can be - for lack of a better term - cheesy. Did anyone ever use that term before? Wondering if it's just an odd thing I grew up hearing or if it's common around at least America.

Lariat xx V-Trigger is like +11 on block right?
I don't know. I'm usually too busy shitting bricks because if I guess wrong I end up getting stunned in the next 3 seconds.

I can't think of an amazing reason to vtrig cancel lariat. You're already as advantageous as you'd really want to be after hit or block on lariat. +11 doesn't really give you more than +3 does imo. I'd save it to cover yourself on a risky sweep, cr.hp, or to combo off moves that have range that you normally couldn't combo off of. Like st.hk. The other purpose is ofc to extend combos for bigger damage.

Alex also has a very satisfying dp punish which also happens to be an easy counter hit confirm. St.hp hp chop combos on counterhit and then you can follow up with a comboable command grab.

Just to clear up more of the goddamn misinformation in this thread:

Resets don't require an airborne state, that's just one prominent method of landing them in this game because they often lead to ambiguous guess situations for the opponent (left-right mix-ups, overhead-low, cmd grab/normal, etc etc).

If you cut your damage short in order to make your opponent hold a guess for the follow-up and that follow-up can potentially lead to even more damage, it's a reset. If the opponent doesn't have to guess how to defend against the follow-up and/or it doesn't potentially lead to any more damage it's just being bad.

In order to get good at fighting games, it requires a good amount of little steps. Coming out of the gutter and getting from Rookie to Bronze feels pretty good in these early steps. Can't wait till that shit is a distant memory.

Also, I somehow completely forgot that Birdie had command grabs...i have know clue how that information decided to vacate my mind. But anyway! I've played nothing but Alex, might play some Birdie soon but for now, I rest, cuz it's fucking late.

Why is this misinformation being liked?

The character does not have mix-ups and has arguably the worst pressure in the game now you have to frame trap with 5f st.mk which pushes people away from you
