Street Fighter V General Discussion

It's all so very confusing.
Sigh, how about no? You won't convince me and I won't convince you and the argument isn't worth the effort, I stated my opinion and I leave it stated for posterity. Kroaken posted a portion of the chart already anyway. Add spam st.mp when close enough, add a fireball in there somewhere and you should have an outline. I also literally just said it doesn't work vs people who know the game, etc.

Blah.

Moving on to Gav.

How on earth do we know that Daigo eats greasy food and even that he lives a sedentary lifestyle? That's a pretty bold statement, especially when it's common at the upper echelons of play (at least in MOBAS) for players to have and adhere to physical fitness schedules and regiments for the various benefits gained, not the least of which being that they don't look like a stuffed animal on Twitch and embarrass thier country. Obesity is way less common in Japan.

I'm not saying he's some physical fitness God who can do bust out two finger push-ups and run on water and shit but dude looks fairly trim and reasonably 'in shape' to me.. and honestly, do you know how bad your physical health has to be before it has a major effect on the ability to push the correct buttons on a joystick? Reflexes are the privilege of youth, absolutely but SFV is the least reflexive fighter Ive personally ever seen. They are damn sure important but far less core to being good at the game than a lot of other games (I'm looking at you SGs and every anime fighter ever) and besides, reflexes have little to do with playing a new character.. you mention he has 20yrs of muscle memory with Ryu but that's not true. He doesn't have an ounce more muscle memory with SFV Ryu than that incarnation has existed.

Ryu may share moves with himself, but these all happen in a new engine with new frame data and processing and timing and animations (even if they look the same, ie axekick is axekick, they are happening to a different model at a different timing) and against different timings and animations and blah blah.

I'm sorry but I just don't buy that a 35yr old is somehow too worn out and exhausted as a person on a mental and physical level to learn a new character that he's played before.

Confirming off cr.mk and cr.mp.

I'm looking at mastery level of the character when it's 3/4 days into the patch which is as ridiculous as Rushdown saying R.Mika was an honest character
Why focus on cr.mk to cr.mp? At that range shouldn't you be doing a number of other things? She's got plenty of confirms and setups to score damage.

She's definitely harder to use than most of the cast but not to some detrimental level.

tfw your alt account overtakes your main account in LP

God damnit what waste of time lol.
Stop ducking me with your smurf then.

Ryu absolutely could flow chart and take wins. Can he flowchart vs good players who understand the game? No, not really, only Chun and Mika and Ken (off the top of my head) could flowchart universally and still be effective..

But Ryu absolutely could flowchart. Just because YOU played respectfully and with thought, didn't mean everyone did and it further doesn't mean that Ryu didn't get mileage out of it at low to intermediate levels.
No he can't lol. Even mikas flowchart was full of readable gaps. You could still do it with Mika it was just bad. Ryu on the other hand definitely doesn't have a flowchart. If you think he does I'd like you to post it.
Can it really be a flowchart if it's a bunch of reads/guesses? I thought a flowchart meant the character had some simple effective plan that's useable regardless of what their opponent does.

You're lucky I read quickly. :p

He's a celebrity in Japan. His business is out there. You know who Taylor Swift is dating and I know what Daigo is eating.

Also, Justin Wong and Problem Wright both take Aderol.

cr.mp st.mk vskill w/kick demon flip punch.

Does like 6 less damage and 16 more stun than the lk tatsu into Dp with a little better kd pressure and builds V gauge.. You can end it with another Vskill into punch as well and build almost a bar if I'm not mistaken, but you take a much larger hit to damage and stun. IMO, VT is super important on Akuma, it makes several of his hit confirms painfully damaging by cancelling in to it (this can be said of most characters I guess, but Akuma feels like he's in the upper echelon to benefit) and turns his already high damage in to something just plain ridiculous, 360 damage off cr.mp x st.mk x lk.tatsu x hp.fireball x h.dp meterless is nice but *does* eat a ton your meter. In addition to his other benefits in trigger. I just feel like trigger is a priority on Akuma, which makes the VSkill version of his BnB the better choice of the two unless you know the extra 6 damage will kill or something, or you have, or are in, Vtrigger already.. I guess it could be used in Vtrigger as well to conserve gauge if you.. eh, didnt want to do all that damage? I dont know, I just take guaranteed damage where and when i can get it and move on with my life, but perhaps using the Vskill version of his combo while IN Vtrigger could be useful here or there? Shrug. It would probably be better to just drop the fireball portion or something if you wanted to conserve gauge.

232 375 Vskill x Demon Flip Punch

238 359 lk tatsu x DP

unless you know if a better one i haven't found yet. I dont claim to be some authority on Akuma.

Edit, the corner carry isnt as good, but you can dash-push them on the ground (it helps time your meaty as well) to get very close to the same distance. I dont think the DP ender does enough extra carry to really consider that a pro in its favor.

edit again because Im trying to be thorough. You can omit the lk.tatsu while in vtrigger and go for a mk.tatsu instead, it still links to DP, but you cant (at least I cant get it to work) fireball after.

310 447 - mk.tatsu x hp.dp (better corner carry and less V meter useage)

358 497 - lk.tatsu x hp.fireball x hp.dp

I like em all and I think they're all useful depending on the situation. I also like lk tatsu reset into lk tatsu for a cross up midscreen and a fake cross up in the corner. and lk tatsu into cr mp xx demon flip for mixups. I think akuma has a lot of variations of his "optimal" stuff.

Agreed, but I'm talking a bread and butter combo. To me that means a simple, always useful combo that is going to be a 'best choice' the VAST majority of the time. If you have an 'agenda' in neutral.and are trying for mix-ups and crossup and so on then sure, other options become better, but I wouldn't consider situational combos and resets and such a BnB. They are situationally optimal, but not Bread and Butter exactly, does that make sense? I don't mean that in a smart ass way I'm just trying to explain my angle here.

It makes sense. I just don't think akuma can ever afford to not have an agenda.

Thank you for the Christmas present of a rushdown/cushion argument with Myles. Also extra points for the Mika sprinkles in there. Most delicious! Merry Christmas everyone!
Bruh, I'm just talking to the dude about Juri. He feels the character has some bar of execution that's too high and I think it's just higher than most of the cast but still very much manageable.

Oh and I already told the thread to put some respek on my name. Buyacushun not buyacushion.
