Birdie's S2 changes seem very weird to me overall in the context of broader S2 changes. In S1, he had some of the weakest post-knockdown follow ups but some of the best reactive options (e.g., anti-projectile specials, whiff punishes) and neutral (AA as well as normals). This made him really unique in a really offensive/guess-heavy game. Now they say they want to promote character diversity, improve neutral, and make offense less oppressive. Yet, they improve Birdie's offensive options and hurt his defensive/neutral ones, making him a lot more like the rest of the cast in both of those respects. He also now has a safe ex bullhead in VT, which means you can just be a jackass and randomly guess with it and get in for free (even if you are wrong, you are safe and don't even need to hold the follow ups - just ex bullhead again! ... reminds me of more resource intensive version of ermac's ex push), rather than play smart and then react to something with it. So far, I don't think he's worse, but he does seem less fun and unique. Not a fan of the changes.

You have to do an instant jump into the ex air fireballs. The Stun with the juggle will give you enough time to follow up with an ex dp.

I want to know what happened to Ibuki and Alexs classic costumes that were suppose to be released. They announced them at EVO


New frame data is out already. Drop that 4f active st.lk on both wake-ups

And it was supposed to come with the Nostalgia stages too.

what's wrong with Dps now?
They're no longer strike invincible on wakeup on frames 1-2. They (wake up dps) only become active on the 3rd frame now. Gotta burn meter to use them as invincible wakeups now.

I have been preying on wakeup DPs forever and all the online scrub Kens used them non-stop. Now I not only have the ability to bait them, but I can also meaty them and hit them out of the first couple frames!

So I'm finding Akuma to be fun, but he's definitely the most complicated shoto. Ryu may be more technical, and Ken is just YOLO, but damn, Akuma definitely requires some execution! Otherwise, he's definitely fun to play, though I haven't put in much time with him at all other than the combo trials and his story. Gotta start learning pressure and setups now!

A bad option that the opponent has to respect is worth using just to keep people honest. If you're playing a character with an invincible reversal you'd have to be foolish not to use it at least a little bit. Even if you take the CC and lose the round they might back off and let you Wakeup in neutral 3 rounds later cause they remember that dp.

If you're playing a character with an invincible reversal you'd have to be foolish not to use it at least a little bit. Even if you take the CC and lose the round they might back off and let you Wakeup in neutral 3 rounds later cause they remember that dp.

i'm just trying to go to the update and see how she works now, specially with the changed jump arc

ninja glider now cancels into any air normal
gains more meter with raida.

I tend to agree here. They're so rare because they're so risky. High level play you rarely see wakeup DP. It's always quickstand, backroll or delayed stand.

Akuma is really fun to play with it. Which is a relief since they murdered Nash. And he is more complicated to play then the other Shoto but I like that. I like playing High Execution Characters since I learned Kabal lol.

You mean the guys who didn't win Capcom Cup? LOL I think part of the reason they used it is because it was invincible on wakeup. ST, 3s and other games had tradeable DP's that weren't invincible on wakeup either, and again, the only ones you saw were metered invincible wakeup DP.

I'm not saying you're completely wrong, I'm just saying that it's such a risky move and when you see guys like Daigo (and his infamous UmeShoryu) getting beaten by taking that unnecessary risk, you have to really consider it an option you use very sparingly, if at all.

You mean the guy that won capcom cup last year and got 3rd this year? Yeah I do mean him. Daigo also lost to back to back wake up dps into CAs. They're risky but powerful. Knowing when to use them is important.

Again, I agree, but only when the wakeup DP's are invincible. Now that they're not, I think the post knockdown meta will change drastically.

It's still just better than wake up jab so unless you think wake up jab is going away I dunno how you think dps are. They're worse, sure, but people are still gonna use em.

Been playing Street fighter 5 in training mode for the last hour with Matchmaking on, no games. I am guessing this is because of the ragequit icon. Thanks Capcom.
