EX Ovi should launch
Buffing cage is a crazy risk, and i still dont think he needs anything but some hitbox love, as i love to express. I cba to keep on being this militant if you guys are gonna just come up with buff-ideas every couple of days, its obviously a huge topic and should be discussed. In my opinion I dont think anyone has the capability to analyse cage in any meaningful way until he is being played near flawlessly. My thoughts on the matter so i dont just come across being whiny all time, this is something im pretty strongly opinionated on and am happy to put people down for requesting cage be buffed when i know for a fact you need to level up because everyone does. Buffs dont help that they just avoid the point and let lesser skilled players get more for their money without having to develop themselves to do so. When Liu Kang flame fist got its silly buffs, this was the best example i can give as i learned 1 blockstring and combo and took games from a very strong day 1 liu kang main in the mirror.
Were not at a point where hes being played at the highest level, and it takes a higher amount of skill and thought just to be able to compete with less-technical top tiers, so he can seem like hes lacking something. Stamina, meter and resource management are all a lot more important for cage than most of the top tiers, as is execution and to some extent matchup specific knowledge (knowing your whiffs and who can get out of your frames). Cage is a character that repeatedly forces your opponent to play your game from a disadvantageous position, and has opportunities to condition you into slaughtering yourself or respecting too much and getting thrown or losing chances to get back to neutral. He doesnt have high/low mixups so your opponent doesnt lose 40% at a time from something as simple as blocking low or high after a jump in punch, so every single touch counts on hit or block, and until someone can capitalise on every single situation properly and safely with Cage I just dont think buffs are the way forward. Out of all the not-top-tiers cage is the only one that needs to be played to a stupidly high calibre to further develop, so until we get there i see no buffs that would make a difference without coming close to breaking him.
