Ayy Lmao
I think we should all just stop playing Inj and MK, and play the next best game. Bikini Karate Babes.
lmao , didn't catch that. Typing fast and not checking because I got homework , that senior in high school life.agreed, mk9 is the best mk9 to date.
Would you say that part of the issue is that NLBC and The Break tournaments are somewhat in competition (not directly, but that segments of the playerbase prefer one over the other)?Honestly the school season for most of the players living in the city is what I think is hurting turnout numbers. Couple that with the fact that me, kdz, fran, and darth live in Jersey and have to pay a 13 dollar toll before entering next level where there is sadly a deficit in numbers, it just isn't worth it. The break seems to consistently get ~15 entrants. Idk why it has been sluggish for NL besides school, but I am definitely saddened by it. Even MAHVEL has had nothing. Hmm maybe to get people to come out we can all put like 10 dollars into a pot for a 'pot bonus' to get people to come out? I really am stumped.
Yeah -- I just think you have to look at the whole picture. The reality of the situation is:i'm not beating ppl up about not playing both, but I find it quite hilarious that many were like (yeah we'll play both), then when IGAU comes out, many just pushed mk9 to the side. That's my problem (and I know it is the problem of others) with the IGAU and MK9 situation. If ppl want to play one game, go on ahead, but me and others are getting tired of the mk9 vs IGAU debates on TYM all the time lol, it's getting redundant, repetitive, and old now.

I'll most likely be coming.Savage Saturday is this weekend with Injustice actually
I'm going if Scoot's going.I'll most likely be coming.
true, but balance should be the least of people's issue because all fighting games have terrible balance issues lol. For every game, I've seen ppl complain about characters and certain things in multiple fighting games. Either way, yeah MK10 will be great of course and IGAU and mk9 are going to be great for NRS to learn off of.Yeah -- I just think you have to look at the whole picture. The reality of the situation is:
MK9, despite being an amazingly fun game, was on life support for a long time. We were begging people to show up to majors, begging people to pick the game back up again, begging people to preregister. A lot of people had issues with the game and the lack of a final patch, but they kept playing anyway because they had nothing else to play, their friends/community were playing it, etc.
Most of the best players had stopped showing up to VSM long before IGAU was released.
It's just that most people simply didn't feel 'at home' playing any other games.
Once Injustice came out it simply exposed the fact that not everyone was continuing to play our of sheer dedication and love to MK9 specifically, and that people did have legitimate issues; were dissatisfied with the way the game balance turned out or building a life lead to get reset for 100%, fighting iAGB+EXdash or Spirit Charges, the uneven distribution of armored footsie-destroying moves, etc., even though they love the Mortal Kombat franchise. So they found another game they liked in Injustice and played it, while people like you and your bro kept playing both.
Two factors at play:
1) The game style, swag, and underlying system, which most of us who were here for it loved, and-
2) Bugs, glitches, massively unfair character advantages -- which people didn't like (even in Injustice; and that's why it was patched)
So for MK10, think of it this way; first of all, it's Mortal Kombat and NRS; so that's guaranteed sales in the millions for a good game. Second, if people like the engine, the game mechanics, etc. and it's not held back by things that held MK9 back competitively then it's going to explode. It'll blow up regardless of what anyone is playing now, and regardless of what anyone says here today.
Dont sound ignorant saying NYC is s bunch of bitches and blah blah blah cause there are less then 5 people really crying and most of us has better things to do. The location and day of the week is terrible. If it remains on Wednesday I'll never get to go.If someone starts bodying the scene in sf4 the way chris g bodies people in marvel and rico bodies people in injustice nobody would show up for sf4 either. To me it just sounds like NYC is a bunch of bitches that would rather cry and complain and not show up than level up. Sabin being the exception.
Yeah. I mean balance is part of the story; but there were also specific mechanics that a lot of people didn't like playing against. This includes iAGBs accompanied by EXDash and NDC, Spirit Charge shenanigans, characters that could yoloarmor through all of your footsies even though they already had a full toolset while you barely had useful armor, or characters that straight-up didn't have useful pokes even though they need them, forcing them to be 100% unsafe yolo all the time to get damage, glitches that stole their meter once the finally got it, or made inputs come out in an f'ed up way that cost them matches, and lagging out frequently online.true, but balance should be the least of people's issue because all fighting games have terrible balance issues lol. But MK has been out for about 2.5 years, while Injustice has only been out for almost half a year. What cracks me up is people saying, "I don't have the passion for this game like I did for MK..."
And then they're not playing MK anymore either.
yeah true, even though we all got to admit, if every character was made with similar tools and the same "dirt" and what not, the game would be plentiful in how many characters that would be played, but not the best to watch because everyone is doing almost exactly the same thing. That is one reason why I believe virtua fighter hasn't exploded like street fighter, all characters in that game have different styles but none are doing anything that unique to be honest. Also who won WNF yesterday?Yeah. I mean balance is part of the story; but there were also specific mechanics that a lot of people didn't like playing against. That has more to do with 'game mechanics' than just sheer balance.
We ignored most of that stuff because the game was fun. But for a lot of people, Injustice is also fun And some of that stuff, they don't have to deal with to the same degree.
It's true that there isn't a perfect game; but anything with 'Capcom' on it has a little bit more leeway for people to keep playing it anyway. I think people have gotten used to the idea of Marvel being broken, but I'm not sure they always like those same qualities in other games.
You sure your from long island calling nyc a cesspool? Many parts of nyc are just as nice as long island and parts of long island are just as bad as the bad parts of nyc. Queens is basically long island...I live on Long Island and I want to see a scene build here ... I hate having to drive to the cesspool which is NYC everytime for a tournament.... any word on VSM again? or something further east?
Yeah I mean, look at what happened when Scorpion dropped; people were like "Hell no; we're not having that this time" and dag near revolted to make sure that same kind of crazy stuff didn't take over the game, lol.yeah true, even though we all got to admit, if every character was made with similar tools and the same "dirt" and what not, the game would be plentiful in how many characters that would be played, but not the best to watch because everyone is doing almost exactly the same thing. agreed, NEC is going to be the stepping stone (or whatever you call it lol ) for this game. It will be the first multi regional major for this patch, so it is going to be very important how many entrants NEC gets, how hype it is, and etc.Yeah I mean, look at what happened when Scorpion dropped; people were like "Hell no; we're not having that this time" and dag near revolted to make sure that same kind of crazy stuff didn't take over the game, lol.
But yeah, we'll see what happens with Supes as people adjust to the new post-patch opportunities for countering him (most people haven't developed new habits yet). To Tyrant's credit he used mostly Grundy last night and was swagging it up.
My responce dude.

keep it going strongI remember NLBC people shitting on the break, saying they'll leave our shitty little tournament to die.
...Hmm.

Who? Noone should be in the business of shitting on other tournaments. I wouldn't do that about the Break for instance since I basically got my start in the FGC there.I remember NLBC people shitting on the break, saying they'll leave our shitty little tournament to die.
