Maybe this one homie?Sajam talks about this topic from time to time. I tried to find a video on it but he literally puts every stream on his Youtube in like 5 minute segments, and I ain't got time for that.
Technically NRS didn’t make games before MK9, that was Midway. A lot of similar people on the NRS team but yeah. And the classic 2D MK games made by Midway are largely the most respected MK games outside of the MK/NRS community. UMK3 specifically is still regarded as on of the best MK games competitively and ahead of its time. It also aged well since they used mokap and digitized actors.Because ppl think NRS fighters are poorly balanced, janky, dont cater to more traditional fighting game dynamics, and focus more on stylized gore and spectacle rather than a grounded competitive fighting game.
You have to look at NRS' pedigree. Their early games are NOTORIOUSLY bad in terms of artstyle. Balance, characters, etc.
They didnt start actually getting their shit together until MK9 and even those games were janky and only had niche NRS appeal once all the big shot capcom players left the scene to go back to their main games.
You can CLEARLY see that NRS was trying to rebrand MK11 as a more 'measured, footsie based, traditional' fighter while still trying to cater to their long time fans.
I dont think its working out well. The game seems like a mess design wise. They tried to please both sides and neither is fully happy.
Great games = happy communityI watched the video too. I think the most important takeaway is what he mentions about Unist and Tekken. About how their communities love their games so much, that it makes you feel like you're really missing out on something great if you don't play or missed a tournament.
Outsiders looking at us bitch endlessly about our game is just going to drive them away.
very true and very nice explained here !Technically NRS didn’t make games before MK9, that was Midway. A lot of similar people on the NRS team but yeah. The only truly bad taste in peoples mouths is the 3D MK’s. But I think that has very little to do with the lack of respect.
It mostly stems from people thinking NRS games aren’t that deep and that there’s not that much competition. And that it’s easier to be a top NRS player compared to a top (insert FG here) player. Which top players in other games have repeatedly tried to test that theory and the overwhelming majority have failed to “come in and dominate”. Since that has generally been the attitude, when the NRS community says pretty much anything back to someone claiming they will come in and dominate, they get butthurt and say we are unwelcoming, lmao.
Anyway, these days only ignorant people think it’s easy to be a top NRS player or that any top player in another game could easily come into an NRS game and dominate. We are slowly getting the respect outside of our community. I’d argue though that we don’t need their respect. They can think whatever they want. Until they prove the top NRS players aren’t that good or whatever it is they claim these days, it’s all talk.
They're messing up horribly now lolThis is not rocket science guys.
Criticizing valid points to improve the game: good
Surrounding the entire community with an aura of bitchiness and toxicity: not good.
Most fighting games have busted BS. I'd love for MK to be balanced, but not appreciating the good things about the game and bitching about everything DOES harm the game's lifespan.
If you guys wanna pin everything on NRS, fine. I agree they messed up horribly in the past. But not letting go of that isn't gonna take this game anywhere, no matter who's to blame.
very wise and well said, Uncle Beez ! I happen to agree with ! you have a point, sir !!They're messing up horribly now lol
But Imma keep it all the way live with you. Its a combination of both community and NRS. Lets address the elephant in the room....this community complains...ALOT! I see the shit on Twitter and here that people complain about issues of this game, yet continue to play. I even saw a post from Dragon posting a video on how busted the hit box is with Shang. Now we have to ask ourselves why we complain so much but continue to play the game. We love our own community and the undeniable because you muthafuckas are here everyday just like Uncle JBeezY. Even though i do not like the current version of this game, we have to let NRS know our concerns so it can get better. NRS fucked up bad from the beginning. Marketing, communication, having practically everything leaked, to nerfing characters negative day 1, and just giving us a game thats not 100. MK11 has potential to be the best fighter out now but NRS gave us great ideas but half assed to an incomplete game and bad decision making.
For the community to be stand proud by their game, the developers need to give us a quality FUN game we can stand by. MK11 is FAR from that and you cannot force people to like a game, especially when most of us paid over 100 bucks for it. When NRS fix these issues mentioned before, the community is happy. Cause and effect.
That's is entirely subjective, i'm having a blast and it's my most played game this year. They're messing up horribly now lol

Yeah I mean my biggest beef with MK 11 personally are the wake ups, breakaways(in the corner with both) and of course Scorp, Erron Black, Geras and perhaps a few other characters that could use some tweaks. Other than that I enjoy the game a lot. Oh and the hit boxes lol. Oh yeah ok, I thought he was french my fault lol I think I'm thinking of the dude with the mustache lol. That's funny on the mod. I'm going to look up how he looks in SF5 been a while. I did find it funny how Capcom has their own Fujin like character now that arab dude with wind powers? Forget the name. If I still played SF5 I'd use him.yeah if you'are excited for dlcs and future patches then you like the game, someone just expect from patches to completly change games lol. Alex is the US wrestler blondie poster guy in sf3 third strike, he's a fan favorite in the 3s community and in sf5 he's just.. i can't even explain how bad he looks (i remember using a mod on pc to be able to watch the screen without trying to carve out my eyes mk style)
Actually not. Tekken 7 went through the exact same shit. Their console version was a vanilla mess with nothing but internet issues, horrible lag, etc etc. But once it got better, the community became more happy with their game and look where its at now. And STILL growing. People LOVE Tekken 7 because their devs listen to its community. It took a long time, but they finally got it right! That's is entirely subjective, i'm having a blast and it's my most played game this year.
The community cares. Thats part of the reason why we complain so much about it. We want it to be a great game we know it can be.Because mk sucks as a fighting game but who cares
yeah, man, MK11 is like a very hot bombshell girl , that you enjoy to fuck all day long, but you are aware that she has a lot of defects inside, being such an annoying bitch that fills you up with a lot of complaining and silly talks .... but you keeping going because you enjoy anyway, heheActually not. MK11 has the potential to make it up there too especially since the devs plan on supporting the game for years. BUT they have to do their part in communicating better with its community and fix these issues.
That was the worst fucking analogy Uncle JBeezY has ever heard! LMAO!!!!yeah, man, MK11 is like a very hot bombshell girl , that you enjoy to fuck all day long, but you are aware that she has a lot of defects inside, being such an annoying bitch that fills you up with a lot of complaining and silly talks .... but you keeping going because you enjoy anyway, hehe
so, MK11 is good, is fun, but we know the problems its has , and we complain, we bark loud, and we cry out, but we keep playing, because we still like the game for others aspects , hehe

Oh, perfect. I was just about to start looking for this gif.
How having fun with the game is not subjective, seriously? me and even other people here already said they are having a good time, that's that, you cannot speak for everyone on that matter. Also, my online matches are absolutely great.Actually not. Tekken 7 went through the exact same shit. Their console version was a vanilla mess with nothing but internet issues, horrible lag, etc etc. But once it got better, the community became more happy with their game and look where its at now. Complains are completely legit. At this point most people is just asking for bug fixes that absolutely affect gameplay and character strength. That should have been a week one patch.I just watched Sajam's video about EVO entrants. He talked a lot about UNIST and how the hype generated by the game's own community made it grow immensely. He also talked about how important it is in general for a community to enjoy the game they're playing.
The exact opposite is gonna happen to MK11. We, as a community, are gonna kill this game if we keep going the way we're going. I don't wanna see anyone blaming NRS when this game dies, because it'll be our fault.
Outside of idiotic fanboys, I see no one from outside the NRS community talking shit about MK11. It's more of the opposite actually. The ones talking shit about this game and driving people away are ourselves.
